Good job everybody!

This week I really slacked off, I had been sick for 2 weeks and was just to tired.  It showed on my scale.  181.2, so it could have been worse but it also could have been better.

My four year old daughter almost beat me in a race to the park yesterday so I'm starting with a new determination.  Off to do shred in the basement where it's cool.

I'm finally starting to feel better!  I'm sorry I haven't been posting much, I've been sick as a dog (actually started thinking I had H1N1).  Now just a cough remains.  I'm now at my lowest in 20 months (since the birth of my son)!  It would be sweet to be in a size 10 by the time the in-laws (very superficial people) come to visit mid-August!  I'm a 14 right now so I think it just may be doable!

When my shins start to hurt I modify the jumping jacks by just jumping straight up and doing the arm motions the way they're supposed to be, if that helps anyone.

Oh and have any of you noticed that Jillian always yells at you not to quit when you're considering it?  The first time I did the DVD I was like, well that's about enough for today and then she scolded me right on time.  I've never quit in the middle because of that.

Anyways I hope you all are having a good day, stay healthy!

Sorry I haven't been posting, I've been terribly sick (still am) and barely able to get on enough to post on the thread I started.

I'm at 180.8 (Lowest I've been since having my son 20 months ago!) down from 186 when I started less than two weeks ago.

I was baffled and overjoyed when I looked at the scale, and I've been racking my brain trying to figure it out, and now I have.  A year ago I was working and trying really hard to lose the weight and couldn't get under 182 lbs.  Now suddenly in a week and a half I lost 5.2 lbs.  This has been my second week of sleeping through the night.  My son has just started sleeping more often than not.  Before this I hadn't had more than 3 hrs of sleep at a time to a maximum of six in a night (usually more like 4 total.)  Now that I have the all important sleep on my side I can do it!

Hurray!!!

Has anyone tried the free 30 day trial of the Jillian Michael's site?  I was stupid and started just before I moved and didn't really get to use it much.  My 30 days ended today so I can't go on it anymore.  A couple of the recipes on there are amazing.  My husband the junk-a-holic even loved the barbeque chicken burritos.  Mmmm...Oh and to be even healthier I used yogurt instead of the sour cream she allowed for, that way I could have a little more chicken and beany goodness in my burrito.

dawgs- I don't have a dvd player, I use my daughters laptop.  I had one but I think it lasted 10 uses.  (We got it on sale for $10 brand new...)  I downloaded it because I figure it's not stealing since I already paid for the DVD.

I do it once a day.  I'm going to try to add pilates (I like the way my balance and form improve the more I do them) and jogging as well.

Glad to see you all, I'll put all the start weights in the first post tomorrow.  I was just watching Biggest Loser Season 7 Episode 1 (I haven't had TV in a while but I just got the first bunch of this season from a friend) and I had to take a break because it's so emotionally draining.  I like to watch it for motivation, but it seems I end up crying my eyes out the whole time.

I woke up sick as a dog this morning, just a nasal thing now so I'll be doing my shred workout in a bit (I had to wait until the pounding stopped.

Just a word of advise (a little late but better late than never) don't forget to drink as much as you can before and after.  It'll really help out preventing the screaming, seizing, next day muscle soreness.

Have a wonderful day everyone and be proud!

Javy83: I never moved on to level 2 yet, the first time around when I was doing the workout I also mixed in pilates.  I find they helped me with some flexability and muscle control.

I'm coming off a plateau as well.  It got so discouraging that I gave up for a while.  Right now though I'm highly motivated to get the weight off, it'll help to have other people with me so I have some accountability.

Nice to have you with me!

Pregnancy & Parenting How do you instill healthy eating habits in young children? Jun 05 2009

I would explain to them that as their mommy you are responsibly for making sure they are the healthiest they can be, that means asking before grabbing a snack.  If they still grab when they feel like it the fridge lock might not be a bad idea until they understand that they have to ask first.

To get my daughter to eat a variety of healthy foods I taught her that food fuels her, like the gas in the car or the batteries in her toys.  For her body to feel good she needs different foods because they fill different needs.  When we sit down for a meal she makes sure it has all food groups so that she can be fueled up for play.

Hope that helps.

To get the ball rolling I'll start.  I'm Rachel a mother of 2 under 5.  I stay at home but I'm always busy running errands or with the kids.  I do over 50 hrs of volunteer work a month, so I have very little spare time.  I have the skinniest husband in the world who can eat whatever he wants and not gain a pound.

My weakness: snacking which my husband does constantly, and I always want to join in.

My game plan: I'm going to start with 3 pound weights for at least the first three days and work my way up from there.  It's been a while since I did any strength training and I don't want to hurt myself at the beginning.  I have not tried level two yet and so at the end of ten days I'm going to move on to level two, and then level three for the last ten.  During the next 30 days I'm also going to detox -- cut out all the processed foods and snack on veggies.

My goal: I really want to lose that 20lbs that the cover says is possible.  I will settle for 10 though.

Thanks for all the welcomes.  Hopefully I'll be able to keep myself in check this time.  I've just got to start eating the way I feed my kids.  I hide the junk from them because I don't want them to ever have to battle weight.  Plus they both love to exercise.

team_malone:  Feel free to pick my brain anytime!  There's nothing I enjoy talking about more than homeschooling.  I don't specifically use any online program, this summer I'm going to start supplementing my normal curriculum with Kwiznet Math and English.  If it's any good I'll let you know.  It's amazing how much young minds can pick up, and by nurturing a child's nature inquisitive nature you get a child with the desire to learn anything; that's been well equipped to continue exploring and learning from anything he or she comes into contact with.  At three-years-old my daughter ask to learn to read, and she learned to read before her fourth birthday.  I take all my cues from her and it's amazing what she manages to teach herself when I'm busy with housework or her brother.  (Anyways you can see how much I love talking about it, this isn't even half of what I'd say about it to someone considering homeschooling.)  So feel free to ask me anything anytime about it.

Hello,

I'd like to join this group.  It's been a year since I logged on here.  Things had been going well the last time I used CC I went down to 180 from 220 (what I weighed after I had my son).  Since then not much change, I weighed in this morning at 186.  My long term goal is to get down to 135.  I want to get down to around 160 for my anniversary (August 6th) so I really need some help keeping on track.

As for my mommy status, I have a 19 month old rambunctious boy that I am desperately trying to get to talk.  I also have a 4 year old daughter I'm homeschooling.

A year ago I started to struggle because of a serious knee injury.  I'm feeling better now, but it'll never be 100% again.  Then there was troubles with finances and we ended up moving for work and so now I'm way up north in Flin Flon, MB, Canada.  Now things are semi-settled but I know I can't wait for the peerfect situation because that's never going to happen.  So I really need the help of a group to get back into the swing of things.

My Start Weight: 186

Goal: 135

Plan: Cut out junk food and increase daily activity.

My advise is keeping a journal of your thoughts.  You don't have to start it with dear diary or anything like that.  Anytime you're emotionally charged start writing.  I really recomend writing when you're feeling that your self worth is particularly low.  Then you can work out those thoughts and build yourself up.

I absolutely love the 30 day shred.  Yeah it's hard but it only takes 20 mins.  If you want something fast it's perfect.  I've only been doing it for a couple of weeks and have noticed a difference (especially my arms!).  If you're going to see results it has to be challenging.  If you're busy like me I suggest giving it another try and remember to drink lots of water before and after, even during while switching exercises.  That will help your muscles repair faster and you won't be so sore.

Today I packed up because I'm going away for a week.  I packed my exercise DVDs and some of my weights so that I'll keep exercising while I'm away.  I've also called ahead and told my mom she has the week off.  I'll be the one cooking and preparing everything so that I'm in control of what I'm eating.  We're going to stop at a farm on the way there and get a week's worth of fresh veggies.  Today when I weighed in I was at 180.2.  I am so close to my first goal.

So today I'm proud of not using going to my parents as a "break" from my new healthier lifestyle!

I'm almost in a 14, it's still a little tight.

Like someone else said it depends on the guy.  I know my husband wouldn't like me less than a size ten.  He's seen me anywhere from 6 to 22.  He likes curvy women.

Thanks tattooed kitty.  I know what it's like to have a knee injury. Yell  At the beginning of the year as exercise I was running up and down the stairs and fell and my knee was hurt bad.  It still hurts when I do certain things.  For a few weeks I couldn't even walk on it.  I used to go to the mall and speed around on a wheel chair for exercise.  It also felt good to get around by myself.

Today I made myself proud by getting up early and organizing my day so that I can get some exercise in today (my busiest day of the week).

I'm so happy to be joined by so many others!  I'm definately going to check in everyday.

Today I realised that no matter how others treat me, including those that are supposed to love me, I'm worth something.  It's the first time in my life I realised it.  While writing in my journal I came to the point where I'm not going to take life lying down.  I'm worth something, and if no one else loves me then I love myself so I am not unloved!

This was always the point where I would give up my weight loss goals.  Not today, never again!

letsgetitstarted-  I'm very all or nothing too, that's why I have to keep junk out of my house.  I'm glad to have inspired you, that's helps me a bunch too because now I have to stick to it!

kjmadill - I hear you, it was alot easier when I was living on my own and controlled everything that came into the house.  That's the only time in my whole life that I was the perfect weight.  Alot of restaurants have bottled water now.  I order that or white milk when I'm out.  I'm fortunate that I never really liked pop.  The only one I liked was the vanilla coke but I haven't seen it in a while.  I don't like the way my teeth feel after I drink it though so I never found the flavor worth it.

Well, I'll give up chocolate starting today.  Last night was just not good.  I cried from 6:30 last night until this morning at around 8:30.  At 10:30 Dean got me some Dove chocolates to relax me a bit.  With the help of lots of hugs and chocolate I was finally able to sleep.  Sometimes I just want to be a hermit because it seems that friends can be much more grief than they are worth.  As of this morning I've used this whole unpleasant situation to my advantage though.  I'm that much more determined to get to my goal weight, I'll have a better self esteem and I will get rid of all the friends that use me and make new ones.

Sorry about the rant and the lapse of judgment last night.  It wasn't too bad though because I was still within my calorie range.
