peaches - I've heard you can drink a little OJ before the u/s. It will help the baby to be more active. I'm pregnant now with my second, but with my first she was so active I didn't have to worry about her being shy! I won't be able to find out the sex till the first of the year. :( Good luck

thanks iz I'm doing much better. Got my energy back, well what it was before I was sick, still not what it was b4 becoming pregnant.

I can't say that I can offer any real advice on what to eat to stay full longer. I'm going through the same thing. Always hungry. Not wanting to eat anything really healthy. Like last night I made meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and some veggies. I couldn't even look at the meat. I made myself cheese sticks and a mini pizza. Then I had ice cream after that. :) I was up about 2 pounds today. So that makes 4 pounds for me. Hopefully this is water weight.   I think once you get your energy back you should be able to hold steady or at least stabilize the gain. They say when you average it out you should gain about a pound a week. Like if your 25 weeks pregnant, then you should of gained about 25 pounds. Remember you loose in the last few weeks, most of the time. Have you tried any protein shakes? They seem to keep the people trying to lose weight full for a long time.

Thanks meryl it was definitely scary. I hope it doesn't happen again. I just need to stay calm if it does and trust that everything will be okay. My little bean is pretty strong already! When I saw it yesterday it was so active, moving its legs and arms. You could make out the nose and mouth. Heartbeat was 158.  On a good note I haven't lost any weight. I've gained 2 pounds since my regular checkup this past June.  I think once I get past the next couple of weeks and enter the 2nd trimester things will be much better.

hey ladies glad to hear everyone is doing well.

I've had a rough few days. I think i had a stomach virus sunday. i woke up around 6:30 sunday morning throwing up and running a low grade fever. That went on until about 9:30 that night. I couldn't keep anything down at all. I was really scared that I was going to dehydrate. But, as soon as I would get sick I would sip on some gatorade. Monday morning I was laying in bed and felt this gush, went to the br and my panties were full of bright red blood and it was pouring out (sorry if TMI). I think the worst, call the doc crying and my husband. He comes home and we go to the ER. They check the baby and it's fine. whew. I went to the dr this morning for another u/s and the little bean was waving it's arms around and moving and was fine. I'm still bleeding but not nearly as bad. The doctor checked me and she doesn't know whats going on. I'm just going to take it easy for a few days. I hope it's not a sign of something awful to come. But the doctor said some women just bleed during their pregnancy. I'm 11 weeks and 4 days today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks meryl I think I'm just being paranoid.

I went into this toy shop/monogramming store a few mins ago. They had the cutest baby items. I wish I knew what we were having. I wanted to buy something sooo bad!!! It will probably be the first of the year before we find out. :(

Thanks, I'm sure your right. No, I'm not taking any of the medicine anymore. Just my vitamins.  I need to get my eating in line as well. Sunday morning at mass I felt like I was going to pass out. I got really hot and things were going black. I had a couple of waffles beforehand but I guess it wasn't enough. OMG the peeing at night is driving me insane. I'm getting up 4 times a night to go, already. I stop drinking right after dinner and have maybe only 4 ozs before going to bed.

izjohnston - we live about 45 mins from the beach, so he said they were usually at the beach for his birthday or went there. He's one of 7 children so I don't think it was a big party. Just mostly family. Now that he's older I try to make him his favorite cake or pick up one for him and we try to always get to the beach as well. I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I wish I could say it gets easier. I too had one. Mine was about a year before my 3 year old was born. I've been worrying a lot lately. My nausea and sickness has just all of a sudden stopped. I'm almost 11 weeks so i'm not sure if it's normal or not. I go back to the doctor on the 24th and I can't wait.

Meryl - we are definitely going to find out the sex asap!  I can't wait to know. I want to start shopping especially if it's a boy since all my stuff now is for a girl.

Becky my husband is a fourth of July baby. That's awesome.

izjohnston-I'm pregnant with my second as well and I feel like i'm eating more than I did with my first. I'm trying to start drinking more water, it was making me sick at first. And, stop eating so much junk. I hope to start walking again soon. I know what you mean about the nausea reassuring you. Hopefully you'll get your energy back soon.

okay so I talked to my boss today. I had no idea he was coming in this week he just popped in. He's leaving tomorrow for Cali for 2 weeks so today was my only option to get some relief for a while. WELL I'm still in the dark. He basically asked me to give him a padded figure that I can live with while I'm out and we would go from there. Come June when I'm due if we're doing better as a company he would pay me more, but right now he can't offer 100% pay. As for the time off I told him minimum 6-8 weeks and he was fine with that. uggh I guess this is a lot better than nothing. I'm just not used to working for such a small company where nothing is set in stone.

Thought I'd post the words so all yall gator fans will know what's constantly playing, and stuck in your brains during the SEC Championship Game!!!! Laughing

Yea, Alabama! Drown 'em Tide!
Every 'Bama man's behind you;
Hit your stride!
Go teach the Bulldogs to behave,
Send the Yellow Jackets to a watery grave!
And if a man starts to weaken,
That's a shame!
For 'Bama's pluck and grit
Have writ her name in crimson flame!
Fight on, fight on, fight on, men!
Remember the Rose Bowl we'll win then!
Go, roll to victory,
Hit your stride,
You're Dixie's football pride, Crimson Tide!

I'm definitely not going to offer to work, even from home. I want to spend every second I can with my new one or asleep! ha I should know today if he's coming into town this week. If he is I will tell him we need to clear this up by weeks end, and give him a couple of days a times to choose from.

Thank yall!

Aww, I can't wait to see my peanut moving about! I'm so glad everything is going just as it should.

My first scan was at 8 weeks and it was internal. I have one at 12 and I have no idea if it will be external or internal. I think by then it should be external though.

Thank you all for the wonderful and helpful responses. I have a lot of research to do. It looks like FMLA doesn't apply to me, since we have less that 50 employees. But, I will make sure I inform him of FMLA, if he doesn't already know.  I'm definitely going to check into changing my W-4 deductions maybe starting in January. I really don't think he's going to pay me much of anything, but we will see! I will let everyone know what happens. We will probably talk next week sometime. I will send him a few different options on when to meet, after I find out his schedule for next week.

Thanks mfonzie for all the information. I'll do my homework before he and I talk again for sure. Unfortunately there's no one else in the company that's ever been pregnant, and most likely I'm the only one that would ever have a baby.

We do have Aflac, there was a guy out here over the summer talking to us about it, but I of course didn't enroll in anything. It's probably too late, I can check into that though. Not sure if being pregnant now would be considered a pre-existing condition.  I just have a feeling I won't be offered any pay. He's laid off/fired a couple of employees in the past few months and is cutting cost wherever he can. I almost feel guilty asking for full pay but I think I'd be stupid not to ask.

I know for sure they have to give you 6-8 weeks, position is guaranteed or similar position, but pay is not guaranteed.

Just got back from my OB, everything looks fine with the baby. I was relived. Only one in there too! whew! Got to hear the hb it was 156. The baby is mesuring 8 weeks 4 days. Gives me a due date of June 4. So we'll see when it wants to show up. :)

I do go back for another u/s in 3 weeks. My doc just wants to check on the baby, I had a few problems with my last and before that I had a miscarriage. I don't mind at all, that means I get to see it again soon! She did write me a Rx for zofran (sp??). To help with the sickness. It's really been bad lately. I can't even eat at night, meat or no meat. I tried to eat a little toast last night that went down okay, but for some reason when I laid down to sleep, I had to run to the br, I almost didn't make it. Thats the worst it's been so far. I hate feeling like that. I'm just glad it's not happening at work. Hopefully it will ease up for us all soon!

mandy--I've been getting winded lately, and that's not like me at all. I work up stairs so I have to climb the stairs a lot, and thats tiring me out quickly. I get really tired around 8 every night. I just want to crash. I think it was worse with my first though. I do remember even calling into work with her, just so I could sleep in.

meryl-have fun tonight. Enjoy it. I know how you feel about missing out on the drinks. I was around some friends a week or so ago and they were drinking. I wanted one so bad, and I don't drink much at all. I think I just wanted it more b/c I couldn't have it! :)

Yall have a good afternoon and night!

I had this problem with my first pregnancy but late in the game. I'm now 8 weeks preggers and it's kicking in again.  The only relief I can find is keeping a pillow behind my back. Especially when sleeping. Sometimes I will get an extra blanket and shove under my back, that works well. Anything to keep my back straight.  The heating pad works well too.

Hope you ladies had a good weekend. Mine was pretty good. Watched a lot of football with friends. One of them is pregnant with twins!! She's only 12 weeks along and is already miserable. Poor thing. We find out tomorrow how many is in my tummy! God I hope only one. Twins don't run in my family or his, so I think we're safe. It's just a scary thought, to me anyway!!

Mandy - I'm sooo not loving meat right now. I can't even look at it. That just started about a week ago. YUCK. Cooking it just grosses me out as well. I hope it goes away soon for my husband and daughters sake.

Oh yeah...

I was going to ask yall, are you using coco butter on your tummies yet??

I started using it while we were trying! I used it during my whole pregnancy last time and no stretch marks! We'll see if I'm that lucky this time.

Hey merylwhite I was lurking around on the april-may board and saw you over there.

I'll be 8 weeks on Monday. Congratulations! I haven't had too many run-ins with the toliet-hugging until last night. I left work around 3 and I was sick the rest of the afternoon and throughout the night. I think I'm going to have to eat more often to keep it at bay. I too have been eating tons of carbs, fatty and sugar ones too. This morning on my way in I had to stop and get a plain biscuit. :(

The scale hasn't said that I've gained any weight but I feel bigger. My clothes are getting tighter and my boobs are getting massive! lol This is my second. I'm already showing. I'm not in my maternity clothes yet, but not far from it. I'm as big now as I was 4 months last time. It maybe bloating but my tummy is still poking out!

I think babies decide when they want to come as well. I know a few who got pregnant on the pill.

Hope you feel better soon.
