| Foods | Sweet Egg Whites! | Jan 04 2009 06:35 (UTC) |
4 |
For some reason I cannot gag down savory food in the morning. After yogurt and/or cottage cheese with fruit in the morning was giving me horribly bad stomach pains, I realized I probably had some allergic reaction to dairy. So, I switched to egg whites. I tried it with veggies, but couldn't do it. Then I remembered that I read somewhere on here about sweet eggs. I mixed pumpkin and peaches with a half a cup of egg whites and cinnamon and a tiny bit of splenda. It tasted so, so good and so much protien and fiber. It looks a little bit odd and people make fun of me, but I really like it. |

trendstudent: I'm glad to know that the video was your favorite gift because I am making my father the same thing. A montage of video footage of my brother and me when we were little. I really hope my dad likes it.
Every gift I've gotten from Santa... my mother... has been wonderful. Especially the years right after my father and mother got divorced. We were on the edge of poverty, but my mom always made sure Santa brought exactly what I asked for. Even though they were just things (American Girl Dolls, ect.), the thought that she put her children before herself just brings tears to my eyes. |

| Fitness | Alternative to running in the rain | Dec 16 2008 04:31 (UTC) |

Yeah, I do a lot of running in the afternoons. But in the morning I work as an aide in a special ed classroom. I do a lot of jumproping with one of the girls during their recess time. I want to die by the end of it, it's so hard! But it's fun and doesn't feel like exercise. Between that and the one on one basketball I play with her, I get a lot of exercise in at work.
Sorry to stray off course, but she's right. Jumproping is a great alternative and they are relatively inexpensive. And yeah, you did a lot of exercise! |

I found Jesus Camp to be horrifying as well. It made me throw things at my TV. Not really, but I did end up yelling a lot and my boyfriend got a little annoyed. I also liked Thin. Transgendernation is quite interesting. It was a series of documentary type shows. I liked The Buisness of Being Born. Deliver Us From Evil made me want to vomit, but it was a good documentary. For the Bible Tells Me so is wonderful. I am a big documentary person. I can barely get through a movie, but put on a documentary and I'll watch the entire thing. |

I'm not going to lie, I don't even remember the last time I shaved my legs. I shave my armpits all of the time, but my legs are too time consuming and my shower gets cold too fast. I'll have one leg done and the shower turns way too cold and I have to hurry and do the other one. My leg hair is extremely fine and nobody can tell if my legs are hairy. I feel pretty lucky in that way. |

I am absolutely in love with Edward... in the book. I thought the movie was terribly cheesey. But that's because the book is cheesey, it just doesn't seem like it when the words are in your head and not on the movie screen. I thought that the acting was terrible and the lighting was awful. I really hope for the second movie someone big will pick it up. I am still planning on seeing the next three, simply because Edward is my husband. ;-) Part of my problem may have been the fact that I was watching the movie at 1am.... but I thought it was terrible. I did, however, find myself wishing the whole entire time that Edward was real and I give them props for sticking mostly to the story. |

I'm 20 and my boyfriend is 25. We began dating when I was 18 and he was 23. My parents had no problem with the age difference, it is only almost 5 years (his birthday is in August, mine is in December). My father is 62 and his wife his 42... so I don't think age has a whole lot to do with any thing once you are both of a mature age (ie- 14 and 25 would not be okay). |

| Foods | subway and sushi | Nov 08 2008 20:30 (UTC) |

Well, I can't help you with the subway question, but as long as it fits in with your calories and you still have a deficit, it shouldn't hurt you at all. Now sushi is my very favorite food. I could eat it night and day. The white rice is empty calories, meaning it doesn't have much nutrition, plus sushi rice has a lot of extra sugar mixed in. To make it healthier, I make my own. I actually prefer it over resturaunt sushi. That way I can control how much sugar goes into the rice and how much rice goes into my rolls. Then I load it up with the good stuff (vegetables, fish, shrimp, ect.) and I'm good to go. My favorite thing to do with friends is have a sushi party. But, I've lost 30 lbs and I eat sushi like a madwoman! :-) And you can eat the tempura and still lose weight as long as it fits into your calories. Good luck!

| The Lounge | Does anyone (particularly females) like their mother? | Nov 06 2008 04:56 (UTC) |
14 |
I'm 20, almost 21. I am a daughter and my mother is my absolute best friend. She always has been. I've never been embarassed by my mother. I wanted her to do everything with me. And she did. She made sure that her schedule fit around me (and my brother), so for a very long time as a child, we were poor. But, every memory I have involves my mother doing something with me. She never missed anything I did. I knew I was loved. She tucked me in at night and sung me to sleep. She woke me up with a song. When I was a teenager, I still loved her. She had rules, but they weren't too strict and they weren't too loose. She knew when to be a mom and when to be a friend. Then I moved away for college and I couldn't stand it. It was then that I realized that I did not like being 600 miles away from my closest friend (it also didn't help that my boyfriend was here at home as well). When I moved back, I lived in my boyfriend's house, literally one mile away from her house, I would walk there. And I would be there every single day. Then we moved to a different house (not one that my boyfriend owns) about 4 miles away, and I was sad that I wasn't going to be living so close to her anymore. I thought I wouldn't be seeing her as much, but sure enough, I am there every night (except Sundays, that's my dad's day). I am terrified to have children because I don't think I can ever been as good of a mother as she was. She is selfless. She always put her children (which now includes the boyfriend) first. I think that is the reason that we are so close now. |

I hope somebody challenges it. It's so close! 52-48! I cried when I got up. It doesn't even effect me and I cried. I am just so saddened by all of the people who are devastated by this. I know plenty just at school today who will be completely upset. It's not fair. We're all humans, we all deserve to be treated like a human, no matter who we love or what we look like. |

I don't know the details of the states and such, but it's true.
I read your earlier post that you didn't think Californian voters could be so bigoted. As of right now, it seems that way.
Please don't judge me. I didn't vote for it. I made sure about 45 times that I didn't vote for it. |

I'm with you, I don't want to go to bed until I find out how it turns out. It looks not so good right now. At least four is losing....................... BOOOO California! I'm upset with you right now. Thank you for voting for Obama though. I knew we'd do that! |

Oh, I'm not worried about it in the slightest. But thank you for letting me know. I just have a feeling that my low blood pressure plays into the fact that I am so incredibly cold all of the time. |

I've only lost 30 pounds and I am terribly cold all of the time. Last night I was at a friend's party with about 25 people in the house and I was wearing my peacoat and scarf the entire time while everyone else was saying "You've been bundled up this entire time, aren't you hot?" Hahaha, no, actually, I had goose bumps. I think a large part of it for me is my blood pressure. It is terribly low (90/60 generally). I am always wearing 4 or 5 layers and even then, I NEVER get hot. It is probably the most annoying thing in the entire world.

| Health & Support | I'm starting to freak out. | Jul 23 2008 04:58 (UTC) |

I was wondering because I get migraines a lot and the way I for sure know I am going to get one is that I get a sharp pain on the right side of my head. It lasts about 1-2 seconds but it's so bad that I have to stop what I am doing and hold my head. Sometimes if I move my head too soon, I'll get another pain. I, like you, am a major hypochondriac, so I thought it could be a brain tumor. I looked it up and apparently they are called "ice pick" headaches because it literally feels like you are being stabbed in the brain with an ice pick. All of the stuff I read said it was common and people with migraines usually suffer them the day before they get one. Once I read that I was curious and sure enough, every time I get that sharp pain, the next day is hell.

Is it a constant sharp pain? Or does it just come out of nowhere and catch you off guard and only last a couple of seconds if that? |

That is exactly how tall I am and exactly how much I weigh. I am ten years younger than you. I'd say you are an awesome weight and you are in no way, shape, or form ROUND. If you want to tone up, use the harsh words as motivation to go to the gym, not to start eating less. I'm sure your mother didn't exactly realize what she was saying when she said it and I'm sure she probably felt extremely embarassed/upset after she said it. I'm sure you are beautiful and please do not resort to an eating disorder! |

I think it's a wonderful idea. I wish more people would do it though. My entire life my family and I pay for the person behind us on bridges when we cross them and only ONCE have we ever seen anyone hand their money over for the next people and not keep it.
It's sad really. |

| Foods | Too much fruit | Jun 02 2008 04:45 (UTC) |

I know I overeat fruit. The average person eats 8 lbs of grapes a year. I swear I can eat 8 lbs of grapes a week. They are my biggest weakness at the moment, so I am going to finish the two bags I have in my fridge and not buy anymore. I am trying my hardest to limit fruit now because it bloats me. It's going to be the most difficult thing yet! |

Thinking about this, I realize I don't really miss these foods. I think I might actually get physically ill if I tried to stomach them, just because my stomach would wonder what the heck I put in it! 1. French Fries 2. The 7 lb chocolate cake from Costco 3. Mac and cheese with the squeezie cheese that is so terribly rich and creamy 4. Alfredo sauce 5. Ranch dressing. I used to not be able to eat salad without it. Now I can't imagine eating salad with it. Takes away from the deliciousness of the veggies. |

Original Post by josielynn: I am exactly the same way. I've never smoked either, but I did suck my thumb until I was nine. I believe I have an oral fixation and I think it came from sucking my thumb for so long. I spend A LOT of money on gum just so that I don't shove food in my mouth constantly. I find I always need something in my mouth or I don't feel right. I chew straws, waterbottles, plastic cups, ect. if I don't have gum or am not eating. It's terribly annoying. I just thought I'd let you know that you're not the only one.

| Fitness | Giving blood -- when can I start exercising again? | May 07 2008 16:47 (UTC) |

You are supposed to wait 24 hours before doing any strenuous exercising. I worked at the Blood Bank for a year, so I know all these weird things about donating blood. But, do what you want. If you start to feel strange, stop. One time I donated blood and then had to run a half a mile (this was, however, about 3 hours after I gave blood, not 24) to the bus stop so I didn't miss it. When I go on, I felt like I was going to die, and there was nowhere for me to sit, so I had to sit down on the ground in the middle of the bus otherwise, I'm pretty sure I would have passed out or thrown up on the public bus. Neither would have been a good thing. I just say, try to work out and if you start to feel strange, stop. Listen to your body. |

| Foods | Frozen grapes ~ Now with more fruit! | Apr 22 2008 15:27 (UTC) |

I am addicted to frozen grapes. Every time I go to the store I make sure I get at least two bags to have on hand because I don't know what I would do if I ran out. Like a previous poster said, they are my substitute for ice cream. Actually, I eat most of my fruit frozen, but grapes are my number one. I've been trying to cut back, but it's terribly hard. They are like little sorbets in your mouth.
Mmmmmmm. |

| Foods | I want to cut out sugar... who here has done it? | Apr 22 2008 06:03 (UTC) |

The only sugar I eat now is in fruits. I'm like snotbubblez and have not eaten candy, cake, ect in over a year. I don't even want it anymore. I think I would die of the sweetness. I cut candy from my diet and lost 10 lbs doing absolutely nothing else. Not even cutting ice cream, so there's a lot to be said about that I think. It really is a state of mind. When I first started not eating sweets I would think to myself, "Are the calories swimming around in your body really worth the 2 seconds of pleasure you get from the taste?" One hundred percent of the time the answer was no. Now, vegetables and fruits are sweet enough for me.
