I have to laugh at the comment about the box method to reduce the size of the crate.  My puppy ripped up the box, ate half of it and went to the bathroom on the rest...

The Lounge Anyone read any good books over the holiday? Dec 02 2008

With the new vampire frenzy... including the movie Twilight and HBO's True Blood I went on a search to find a good non pornorific blood lust novel.  What I found was something worth reading...

I, Vampire:  The confessions of Vampire by Michael Romkey.

I read two more of his books, however they are loosely the same plot and I don't highly recommend them, however they are not a total waste.  All of his books are geared towards a 25+ crowd, however depending on your maturity you might enjoy it as early as 18.

Sounds to me at 5'10 144 eating 2000 calories a day would be for maintenance.  Try eating more fiber at the begining of the day (25 grams before dinner).  My sister is a nutritionist and she has done that for years and it seams like whatever she eats at night doesn't even count.  I just started doing this and eating healthy a year ago, and it has helped me too.  Just a suggestion, give it a whirl.

Sounds like vanity sizing is everywhere or this thread explains tight jeans and muffin tops.

On a side note... I NEVER purchase my costumes from a halloween store, they are expensive and cheaply made.  I use stuff I have and buy extras to make it work.  I also get a lot of compliments and usually end up winning prizes because it looks realistic and I don't go  with the less is more approach like most.

A gangster girl is easy to pull off and still be modest yet sexy.

Try a pinstrip to the knee pencil skirt or high waisted pinstripe trouser pant, with a button up blouse, suspenders (with a gun holster) or a tight little vest with a bright silk hanky in the pocket, a black fedora hat (you must wear it tilted on your head), sexy pumps or boots, don't forget the extra long/slim smokes (even if you are a none smoker), the deep red lipstick and don't leave your house w/o the right attitude.

If you have a significant other it's easy to dress him up too, most men have a suit, and you can figure out the rest.

Assuming you can even fit 12 beers into your belly!  I know I can't.

Becks light also has like no alcohol in it.  Go for the fuller beer, just drink less.  If you can down 7 beers (a lot for a chick) then you would need 12 or more of the Becks Light.

Weight Loss So You Think You Can Dance... the weight off? Jun 26 2008

I love LOVE that show too!  Last night was great, a few really solid, entertaining routines.  I dance around in the morning, also while I'm cleaning, or whatever else I might be doing.  However I did start taking a partner dance class for beginners that takes you through all of the styles.  It's a lot of fun and a great work out.  My body isn't 'there' yet but the dancing is helping, I know that.

Oh and when you have passion, or REALLY enjoy your work out, I think you're going to have better results no matter what you pick.

If she wanted to vent in peace she would have wrote it in a journal.  However she wanted feedback (negative and positive). When writing in an open forum that means you are opening yourself up to ridicule.  Also, if I don't agree with her so called vent then I have the choice to state my opinion or leave it.  My choice is obvious, only because I think she needs to see that their are two sides of the coin.

It sounds like it goes both ways.  I'm sure her sister is online in a different forum saying the same thing about the poster.  I think it has nothing to do with sinking to 'that' level, they both do it.  Truth is in the post.

You just called your sister 'largish' and she is 5'6" and weighing in at 150lbs.  Check that on the BMI...

Sounds like your sister has a good idea of what a healthy woman should look like, and maybe a tinge of jealousy.  However that is most likely because she has a sister who obsesses about weight/food and calls her 'largish'.

Weight Loss Losing Pounds Not Sizes??? Please Help!!! Jun 23 2008

This may sound harsh but it sounds like at 258 you must have been VERY uncomfortable in a size 18.  235 sounds like a more comfotable 18 depending on your height and that still might be a little tight.  Do me a favor and take your honest measurements, don't pull the tape tight and then compare the measurements to the sizing charts, you might find out that you have lost a couple of sizes.

I'm going to be blunt and honest. It sounds like a horrible idea. This is how you come across, "I ate like a porker all week so I am going to starve myself (fresh start) so I can pretend it never happened."

Sounds like you have deeper issues with food.

I hate to say it, but this will not be the last time you binge and fast (same as binging and purging in my opinion).  It will never be the last time until you understand it's not healthy and see it as a roller coaster ride with no seat belts.

If you just give your body what it needs on a daily basis you will better control your binges.  However you fast... so after the so called 'safe' coffee/juice/tea fest you're body starts screaming for nutrients.  Also the multi vitamins do NOTHING for you while you're fasting, it will go through you rapido.  Please take some advice and just eat your steamed veggies and fish (the meal you thought of if it gets out of control)- From the outside it sounds like you are.

If you didn't mean to sound that way I apologize now.  Living with an eating disorder is not attractive to anyone, it controls your life and relationships.

Eat clean, drink water, stick with 1200 calories, you'll feel much better.

Weight Loss Help!! I cannot eat enough Jun 19 2008

Well I don't understand how anyone can eat a dinner of spaghetti and meat sauce AND a salad and still come in under 600 calories, unless your portions are tiny.  I'm assuming you are measuring.

1 cup of cooked pasta is 300 or MORE calories.  1/2 cup of spaghetti sauce is 80 calories or more (100 is average).  Plus the meat, add at the very minimum  100 calories and if you added cheese then add that up too.  So for a very smallish portion of spaghetti with meat sauce (ONLY 1/2 a cup sauce) you are looking at 500 calories.

Now please tell me the brands you use, because I love spaghetti and would love to enjoy a spaghetti dinner without the guilt!

Weight Loss Measuring calf size!!! Jun 09 2008

16 is big for a thin person.  I am average and athletic with muscular calves and mine measure 14.5 around the biggest 13 at the top.  I fit nicely in most knee boots of average width.  I would assume anywhere from 12-15 would be a good goal for you.  However if you're body is made that way there is little you can do to change it if you are already thin.

I'm happy others agreed with me.

You can't put a time limit on a lifestyle change, and you will not get the body you want (maybe the weight) if you sit on the couch and eat 1200 calories.

That's only my humble opinion.

The Lounge underwire bras - why did no one ever tell me! May 30 2008

I'm a 36DD or 34E in euro sizes, My boobs really are not that huge, it's hard for me to think you are a B cup judging from your pictures.  However my bra fits correctly, my boobs sit in peace, and there is no side fat or  anything.  I was way off in my measurements before I got a bra fitting at a high end boutique (do not get it done at victoria secret or a store that sells bras and clothes).  Even if you can't afford the bras there you do not have to purchase them, just get the fitting (that's what I did).

Weight Loss Once a week. May 30 2008

Cheat days are tricky for me.  On the weekends I don't count... well I admit I do try to estimate in my head (only so I don't eat 4k cals w/o knowing it).  On cheat days I can not eat until I am full... because lets face it, I may not be full until I eat two bowls of ice cream for lunch.  So what I do is I eat whatever I want, in moderation.  My cheat day may look like this:

I start with my usually breakfast, healthy and balanced, around 300 calories.  Breakfast is the easiest meal for me to stay on track with.

Lunch, I eat whatever I want, which now seams to be healthy things.  It always depends what I have but I keep it 400-700 calories.  I don't limit myself, only on the portions and stop eating right before I am full.

For dinner I do the same as lunch, stop eating right before I am full but pick out whatever I fancy.  I also might ride up to get a small cone somewhere or have a few glasses of wine.

Anyways I look at a cheat day as a maintenance day.  I don't want to over due it because I am no longer someone that eats until I am stuffed.  I also care what I put into my body now, balanced nutrition is key.  A cheat day to me is not feeling full all day (who likes to feel bloated?) it's enjoying foods that I haven't in a while.  Nothing is wrong with enjoying food, and it feels so much better when you can enjoy some without feeling like a failure after.

I have been losing just fine, no stalls.

nat620 - I thought I had it bad... guess I was wrong!

rebepi - My pup also makes me feel horrible if I get upset with him.  He will go to another room and actually shake (I HAVE NEVER HIT HIM).

The most memorable time for me was when I first took him home from the shelter.  After reading the lovely note from his foster mom...  Diesel is a very nice puppy (for a male) however I must warn you about a few things... he doesn't like his kennel and will cry all night in it, he can jump a 3 foot gate (at 6 weeks old), don't trust him with shoes, toilet paper, or your molding.

The list went on but when I finished reading it he was sleeping on my lap.  I ended up sleeping on the couch with him that first night and in the morning I snuck away for a shower.  When I was finished I listened and could hear him chewing on his puppy kong.  When I came out ten minutes later I noticed it was not his kong keeping him entertained it was my $500 dollar pair of glasses.

In the first six months I went through designer shoes like crazy and a lot of toilet paper.  However it was I who needed to adjust to him.  Once I figured everything out we now live in peace.

Isn't it awesome when people you see all of the time start to notice!?

I remember when my boss said... "You're looking different lady, good job!!"

I was like... "ugh... thanks :)"

I think he has no idea what to say... I'm the only women in his department so I think he tries to word things right and then they end up sounding all wrong.

Oh and my muscles feel much better today, so I am confident that I didn't do anything major... the doctor was actually correct!

The added water, lean proteins, potassium and magnesium really helped.  I didn't even crack open the muscle relaxers and pain meds.

We lost our game the other night too.  Our hitters didn't come out to play.
