I am in week 3 of this program and I LOVE it! I also was never a runner, but this is perfect to set realistic goals. My husband and I are having fun talking about our days during the walk time. I unfortunately have developed shin splints and have to delay the program, which is annoying because it's not like i'm out of breath and can't run! Anyone who gets pain in your shins, DON'T try to run through it! This is a typical novice runner problem and must be taken seriously so you don't fracture your tibia. Otherwise, I hope to reach my goal of running a 5k with my husband and father in june! |

No change. I will admit that ever since I left my temp job, I haven't been doing the CC website at ALL. I think without a routine, it's tough to do it, don't know why since all I do is apply for jobs all day! I have been good with portions, and I think that's why I haven't gained at all, ugh. Once I finally get a job things will improve on the weight-loss front as well. Great job everyone! |

Well, since this week was a major cheating streak, one pound down is pretty good although I feel bloated because of all the beer i've been drinking :( I'm back on the job search and it SUCKS! Now I'm off to CT for the weekend to unwind. Yay to everyone staying on track |

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been missing this week. My temporary job assignment is ending today and I have been trying to secure a permanent job at the place I work, so I've been interviewing, stressing, and trying not to eat too much! I don't think I really watched what I was eating but how much. So woohoo for numbers going down! I've been able to (pretty much) stick to my alcohol rule, but of course there are exceptions. Great job everyone on LOSING, yay! I'm still 10 pounds to my goal, but I'm ready to do an Irish jig on St. Patty's day already, I feel great! |

johgar, I totally sympathize with you.. I have been a major fan of beer for my entire adult life. I think I can attribute my belly to all of those ambers, pale ales and Miller Lites. It was the norm for me to just start drinking after work to unwind. (hey, I lived in Louisiana most of my life, they know how to party!) Since I've started this calorie counting thing I've realized that a HUGE part of my weight issue is drinking. I am trying to set limits for my drinking... I started with twice a week. Now it's weekends only. I think that's alright as long as I'm not totally going crazy and being more limited about it than I would have before.. So I guess my point is that I'm in your boat too! |

i am also having issues.. All I can see when I look at the spreadsheet is stewmama's info.. anyone seeing the same thing? I've filled out the forms for 2 weeks but I was thinking she had to approve it being put onto the spreadsheet since she is the creator..but then again I know nothing about google docs! |

Just thought that since the scale was much nicer to me today, I'll update my disappointing Friday weigh-in... SW: 177 CW: 171 GW: 167
Anyone wanna share some foods/drinks that are your go-to's for dieting? For me: -yogurt for breakfast accompanied by chunks of pineapple -low-sodium soups to go with lunch have helped me feel fuller -baby carrots are a great munching food -water water water! |

| Weight Loss | Gaining 14 pounds as a newlywed!!! | Dec 03 2008 15:09 (UTC) |

Yes, I called it my "downward bliss spiral".. eating and being happily married! It's been over a year now since I got married and I think it only took a couple of months to put 30 pounds on. (i know, i know) So now we are both watching our calories. We've had a change in scenery too- we moved from Louisiana to Brooklyn, NY. It's been awesome because we have lots of opportunities to walk walk walk! Nothing wrong with being happy and eating merrily, but I find that we are the happiest together when we also feel great about ourselves :) |

| Foods | What do other cultures have to teach us about food? | Dec 03 2008 14:49 (UTC) |

I am an American and I lived in Japan for a year (teaching English). I lost about 30 pounds over that year and I didn't diet at ALL. I would say that I walked about 1.5-2 miles a day to and from train stations to get to work (usually a brisk walk as I was late most of the time). I ate whatever I wanted (ramen soup, chicken and rice, cheeseburgers, donuts, etc.) and drank beer, and the weight kept coming off. I am convinced that the ingredients were fresh and organic, so therefore better for my body. While I was there, the Japanese were boycotting American beef. They are very strict about their food standards and I think it has a lot to do with their long lives. (they also usually buy fresh ingredients everyday from the market to make their food-- not every 2 weeks) Needless to say, when I came back to the US, I gained it all back plus some. Now I'm doing it the right way (counting calories and exercising), but it is harder in America to accomplish the level of food quality and freshness that they have in Japan. |

I think I'm similar.. I'm 26 years old 5'4"/5'5" Current weight 174 I don't have a high stress job, but I'm working as a temp in New York city trying to find permanent employment. I generally work in the academic field in administration. I gained about 30 pounds this past year after getting married and being a happy eater. Why are you looking for someone similar? |

I, too was shocked to stand on the scale this morning. (After last night when I cheated a bit with some high-calorie cocktails!) Looks like I'm finally following through with a non-fad diet and it's working! Everybody keep up the good work! Next week will be a challenge!
Start: 177 Current: 174
I haven't been running in the morning, but I live in a big city, so I think the hustling around has helped. :) |

I'm 5'5" My lowest was when I came back from a year in Japan (such healthy food there!)... 135 Highest was 9 months into my happy marriage ;) 180ish Currently, I believe I'm near 175 Alcohol gave me a nice belly, now I'm trying to slim it down! Trying to find a happy medium.. maybe 140-150 would be nice, at least a good maintenance weight.. hopefully I'll get there before I'm pregnant, just to gain it all back! haha
