Strawberriesareawesome, if you're putting on muscle you're not going to lose weight. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. Muscle is denser than fats, that is to say, the cells that compose it are more tightly packed. So if you still weigh 140 but you look great and lean, you've won the battle.

Original Post by crzymonki0416: Thanks for saying something, crzymonki. At 13, kids don't need to be really focused on their weight. Just eat healthy, stay active and don't get overweight. Whatever you do, do NOT do diets. When you get to your upper teens and into your twenties you just might have my problems : I yo-yo'd weight-wise and dieted during my teenage years and now I'm 22. The max I've weighed is 240 and I started having to shop in the Plus sizes. I've had a really rough struggle with depression, in part, because of my weight and poor physical shape. Since I did those crazy diets as a kid, it's harder for me to shed the needed pounds for me to be a healthy adult. It's fine to keep an eye on your weight but don't get too worried about it while your a teenager. Don't let the media make you think you are ugly if you don't wear a teensy size. |

I find that those 100 calorie snack packs help me handle my cravings especially since they've got Oreo's to cover my chocolate fix. And if you want a little more from your cookies smear some PB on them.
I've just recently joined CC to help me keep track of my calorie intake and see how many calories I burn. I'm doing a plan based on a magazine but suited to me and my life. I'm 22 years old, 5'6'' and 230lbs. I have a soy or whey protein shake for breakfast and lunch and a low-cal dinner. I'm trying low calorie, high-ish protein and increased activity to get me down to my first redux goal of 200. I honestly don't care what I weigh as long as I look good and feel good.
I don't know how much of a buddy I would be but I'll try to check in and see if I can offer any tips or if you ladies have voiced some tips that'll work for me. I try to put up my food diary and activities everyday but I haven't gotten into the Community part of CC yet. I'll see ya around LC |

A snack I love is a small to medium apple with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. These days they have those convenient pb cups that you can tote around anywhere you go and many stores carry them. Another tasty snack I enjoy is a homemade protein bar that is meant for people who's lives are sedentary or only have light activity. I'm a big Food Network watcher and my favorite show is Good Eats. That's where this recipe came from - (I hope it's ok to post this link) http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recip e/0,1977,FOOD_9936_31336,00.html Here's the nutri facts: "We've got 154.01 kilocalories or calories, we've got 21.08 grams of carbohydrates, 8.41 grams of protein, 4.79 grams of fat, 2.14 grams of fiber, a measly 91.92 milligrams of sodium, and 17.7 milligrams of cholesterol." ~ Alton Brown I don't stick strictly with the recipe but it tastes great anyway. Almost every ingredient can be found at a Schnucks or Super Wal Mart. I just juiced my own apple for the cup of unfiltered apple juice, I had regular brown sugar so why buy dark to try a recipe, plain old Peanut Butter, and for my fruits I used dried blueberries, cherries, and cranberries. My family doesn't like raisins the way I do so I had to leave them out.
Anyway, I didn't really mean for this post to be so long but here it is and I hope it helps. |
