Pad Thai

- Shirataki Fettuccine Noodles: 40 calories

- Light Firm Tofu: 40 calories per serving. I usually use half the block (2.5 servings), so it's 100 calories.

- Store-bought Pad Thai Sauce: Thai Kitchen or some other band. They're usually about 60 calories for 2 tablespoons.

- Egg Beaters

- About 10-13 Peanuts, ground, or crush and then chop them using a knife.

- Bean Sprouts

Drain and rinse the noodles before adding them and the tofu to the pan. As they cook, they will release a lot of water, so turn up the heat and spoon out the water. Cook until all or almost all of the water evaporates. Push all the noodles and tofu to the sides of the pan, leaving a big empty circle in the middle. Spray it with Pam, add the egg beaters and some salt, and cook until the eggs are just jiggly on the very top, but cooked on the bottom. Mix everything together and add the pad thai sauce. Top with with bean sprouts and the ground peanuts and enjoy =)

"pizza" !!

Ingredients:

- One 10'' whole wheat, carb control tortilla. I don't know if you have it your your supermarket, but it's this type of tortilla that has 21 grams of fiber, 8 grams of protein, and 200 calories per tortilla. The 21 grams of fiber definitely makes it worth it.

- A little bit of pizza sauce. The serving size the jar I have says 1/4 of a cup is 30 calories.

- Reduced Fat Provolone Cheese- 50 calories a slice. I use 2 slices, which I cut up into little pieces sprinkle them around.

- Tomatoes

Put all the ingredients together and put it in the oven until the cheese melts and the tortilla gets nice and crunchy. =) It should be around 330-350 calories per pizza.

Make sure you rinse it really well under cold water before you cook it or else you will get a really gross, bitter taste. I usually make stuffed peppers with them. After cooking it, I mix it with diced canned tomatoes, spinach, onions, and garlic before stuffing the mixture into a bell pepper or two and then baking it.
Young Calorie Counters another thread made me think of this... do you use tampons or pads? &why? Feb 28 2008

Original Post by amberrr:

I use both! a pad kind of feels like a diaper.. and i hate that "oh! there goes the fountain again!" feeling hahaha. However i've always been nervous about seleeping with a tampon in, so i wear a pad at night. I think switching between the 2 prevents over irritation of the outside (diaper rash), or the inside (dryness).

I hope for their sake no males enter this topic Yell AGH!

I concur. Sleeping with a tampon freaks me out, especially after reading so much about TSS when I was younger.  I only wear tampons during the day and I change them every 4 hours, whether I need to or not. There's nothing that grosses me out more than using a tampon for longer than a few hours. I hate the feeling of wearing a pad, but if I'm sleeping, I won't feel them anyway.

Sorrento's low-fat ricotta. I use it to make eggplant parm. yummm

I also like soft goat cheese. 1 ounce is only 60-80 calories, depending on the brand. My all time favorite it just fresh mozzarella. It's normally pretty low-fat relative to other cheeses and it always tastes good.

And yes, when I try to run they bounce all over the place and I can't find a sports bra that fits my back AND my boobs at the same time. grrrrrrr

Go to Dick's Sporting Goods or some other big store that specializes in sporting goods and apparel. They should have a huge selection of sports bras. I find that the sports bras with "cups" to accommodate large boobs work the best. I currently use a few from Under Armour because they have ones that are designed specifically for D cups.

I'm a lightweight and I don't like to get insanely drunk, so I tend to only keep it to 3-4 drinks MAX. I don't drink very often, but when I do it's when I go to visit my bf at another school. I go to Georgetown, which is a catholic school, and it's very, very strict when it comes to underage drinking. I've already gotten written up once and two more times will get me suspended (along with the heavy fines I'll have to pay and the work sanctions I'd have to do after the second write up).

However,, I still love my Irish car bombs.  I can drink that stuff any night of the week (not that I do).

EXFOLIATION !!

I use Bliss Sleeping Peel at night. I'm not sure if it's working for the hyperpigmentation, but it's definitely working at making my skin feel super soft and smooth. I'm going to try Clinique's Even Better Skin Tone Corrector next, since it was made specifically for dark spots/patches and I'm considering micro-dermabrasion.

The key to acne scar treatment is to let the existing ones fade without generating any new ones. If you still get acne popping up, no amount of treatment is going to work on your scars because you'll always be getting new ones. I would go to a dermatologist. He/she will be more knowledgeable in acne prevention and post-acne mark treatments.

Rather than juggling school work, a job, and an internship at the same time, you can try just doing work and a part time job during the school year, and PAID internships during the summer. You can even take a whole semester off school to do a co-op (an internship that lasts for the duration of an entire semester). I'm planning to do that for Spring or Fall 2009.

It's not that hard to juggle everything if you have good time management and know how to do all your work efficiently.

Even though college does cost several limbs in tuition, it's always worth it to go. If you don't have enough money, there are a lot of scholarships and loans you can get to help cover tuition. You can always work to pay off those loans after you graduation, after which you will probably be making a ton more money than you would if you were just a high school grad.

Vegetarian Does dairy make your skin break out? Feb 16 2008
02:54 (UTC)
7
YES !!!! I used to break out a lot from drinking milk and having milk with cereal. I've stopped for about 8 months now and I rarely break out anymore and when I eat even a moderate amount of dairy (usually yogurt and cheese), I get a pimple within 2 days.
Foods to much fruit? Feb 16 2008
01:21 (UTC)

i don't think you can ever have too much fruit. i can eat a whole cantaloupe while watching a tv show. =)

i don't count calories when i'm eating raw fruits and vegetables because i think it's like creating an "allowance" for eating something that's actually good for me.

Motivation I really need some help and advice.... Feb 15 2008
02:37 (UTC)
i tend to only get those kinds of cravings when i'm here in front of my computer between classes and at night, so i usually just log onto here when i'm craving something super unhealthy. it's really inspiring to read about so many people trying so hard to lose weight, so i literally just forget about my ridiculous chocolate mousse cake cravings. also, i just think about how healthy i've been eating and how much i want to keep it that way. i ask myself if that (insert junk food here) is really worth undoing any of the hardwork i've been putting into this (mostly)healthy resolution. try taking it one day at a time. after two days, go for three days and after the third day, try for the fourth day. it gets easier.

Foods healthy breakfast ?!? Feb 14 2008

a thomas' light whole wheat english muffin and peanut butter. make sure you get the english muffins in the kind with 8 grams of fiber per serving. =)

for a treat/unhealthy breakfast, i make grits and eat it with "fried" egg whites (cooked with a nonstick spray), and some bacon with most of the fat taken off before i cook them. it sounds really unhealthy, but it's less than 300 calories. =) my mom's bf is from north carolina, so he got us into the whole grits sensation.

Mine has a salad bar with 3 kinds of leafy greens-- spinach, lettuce, and mixed greens. it also has an assortment of other veggies, along with olives, chickpeas, tofu, tuna, different cheeses, hummus, etc. there's usually 2-3 kinds of fresh fruit besides the usual apples, oranges, and bananas, but since it's the middle of winter, we've been getting only fresh melon and canned fruits (gross).  there's also a sandwich bar with a variety of breads that include a semi-healthy whole grain bread with satisfactory amounts of fiber and whole wheat pita. Other than those, there are unhealthy already-made options like chicken tenders, fries, pizzas, pastas, burgers, etc. There's also a stir-fry station and a custom-pasta station and a make-your-own pizza station. i actually don't mind the make-your-own pizzas because the crust is really thin, like a tortilla, there are a lot of veggies you can put on it, and the pizza always comes out really crunchy and delicious. =) i also loovee the frozen yogurt machine <3 my favorite flavor is the alpine strawberry

however, i don't go to the cafeteria a lot. i usually cook for myself because it's just healthier and i know everything that's in my food and more importantly, what's NOT in it. whole foods is seriously my life.

just eat more fiber. berries have a TON of fiber and are DELICIOUS and HEALTHY so eat a ton !!!! also, a lot of the weight you gained is probably from water since not going to the bathroom  24/7 makes you retain a lot more fluids.
Foods Sushi??? Feb 13 2008
15:59 (UTC)

GOOD quality sushi only has a really thin layer of rice on it. places that don't really know how to make it will just pile on the rice, leaving a much thicker layer. if you don't want to eat too much carbs, but still want to fill up, order edamame, one roll of sushi and some sashimi (raw fish without rice).

When I'm not hungry, but feel like eating because I'm bored or if my favorite junk foods are just staring me in the face, I just go into a coffee shop and get an iced coffee or tea. It's not as satisfying at a piece of cheesecake, but I know I will feel a lot better once I realize that I saved myself about 500 calories. However, an iced coffee does NOT replace a meal or a snack if I really am  hungry. It's just something I use to get my mind off of eating something really delicious, yet terrible.
