Women's Health Magazine's website has a bunch of workouts that require only limited equipment such as bands and hand weights--they have some designed just for working out at home too!

That's a deal Melinska...I did horrible last weekend (including Sunday)...did kinda bad on Monday...was good Tuesday...kinda bad Wed...great yesterday.  Today--so far, so good!  I am working tonight which is what is always so hard.  I am going to bring a snack so that when hunger strikes around 10 (because I eat before work around 3:45 or 4) I can eat something healthy and then forget about it...and when everyone sits down for a glass of wine after the shift--I am gonna say no!  I will think of you too!  Good luck!

Melinska-you and I have too much in common!  I messed up big time this weekend two...that's two weekends in a row!  and I promised myself on Sunday I would be good...then went to a baseball game and out to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants for 1/2 off bottles of wine--bad news.  I am working a lot this weekend...so hopefully that will stop me from going out and drinking...which is what usually leads to my over-indulgences.......wish me luck

So--I posted last week asking what everyone was doing for their fitness routines.  I had hit a place where I dreaded the gym and found any excuse (even working longer...) to avoid going to the gym.  During the day, I have a desk job, at night a serving job at a restaurant.  I knew that if I made it to the gym, I'd be happier and more motivated...so I went out a bought a membership to a Gold's Gym (instead of using the somewhat run-down gym available to alumni at my college).  So far--I am loving it.  I think taking the classes there is really motivating me and keeping me interested!  I am not getting bored and I look forward to the gym!  I am trying Body Attack today for the first time!

Melinski--I love that you play hockey!! I try and play once a week...but lately I have had a really hard time making it just because it is Sunday nights (usually one of my only nights off) and there have been conflicts.  Where do you live?  Also...I don't know much about the Body Shred thing you mentioned.  Is it DVDs or what?

One more question for the group!  (And sorry for the long post!).  Has anyone tried a personal trainer?  I had a free session at the new gym and kinda liked it, but the price is kinda outrageous so I am not sure its worth it! Any good/bad experiences?

I would really like to join too!  My goal is 10 lbs...and like melinska said...I am not the best at sticking with groups!  I did CC about a year ago and lost about 25 lbs then gained 17 back.  I have dropped a few...but I need to lose about 10 more to be where I want to be!  And I know my obstacles--lack of motivation to work out, alcohol (I just love my red wine...), and late night binging.  What is everyone's exercise plan?  I have not been to the gym in weeks...

I kinda lost this group after joining and found it again today!  I am weighing on mondays....what about everyone else?!  Last monday I was 119.7 and I weighed today at 114.8 (I know its only Friday but I've been good all week and couldnt wait til Monday!).  I am sure this is just water weight so I am not recording anything officially until Monday.  I am having trouble getting motivated to start exercising again though--any tips?

There is a great sushi/fusion kinda place in Dunnwoody I think...near the mall.  Its called Goldfish.  I really liked the food and atmosphere the one time I went (be careful though, its right next door to the Cheesecake factory....)

These are all great suggestions!! I personally love sushi so tuna and salmon are how I get a lot of my good fats---oh and avocado and peanut butter too!  The best peanut butter for you is the all natural kind--some health food stores let you grind your own!  That way there is no added sugar or sodium.  As for the sushi, tuna isnt as "fatty" as salmon but both are delicious!  Try White Tuna too, its like butter!  My favorite thing is a sushi roll with tuna, salmon, red snapper, avocado, brown rice, and soy paper.  Delicious!

I was bad Friday  night so I waited until Sunday to weigh in, and didnt like that number so I went for a good run and did really good yesterday and weighed in last night...still cant believe how much I fluctuate in just a day or two! overall down about 1 lb.  not sure if it is real weight loss though--but I am trying really hard on the no drinking thing and trying to eat healthier when I eat late at night (like no spoon fulls of peanut butter).  My goal is to avoid alcohol until Dec 23rd--wish me luck!  I am determined to look good for my 23rd in Feb!!  I think we are renting a cabin with some friends and there is a hot tub involved.  There is no way i would put on a bathing suit now--but knowing I have to soon is good motivation!

I am with you Janay...I was working out like 5 days a week and then got super busy with work and other things and was only able to make it a few days out of a few weeks--not good.  Trying to get back into a work out routine now!  oh...and went out to dinner with the bf last night which meant wine...but I was able to do good with dinner (salad with smoked salmon and light vinaigrette)...but desert was bad news!  I couldn't talk the bf out of ordering it, but when I was trying to sleep and felt too full and gross, I was able to recommit!  I hate that feeling but its good motivation to avoid eating/drinking so much next time~!

How is everyone doing?!  I have decided that if I am serious about this...I am going to have to give up drinking--I tried the "I'll just have one glass of wine" thing, and it didn't work.  Then drinking makes me not care about what I eat and it turns into a mess!

Anyone have any other obstacles or strategies?

So I weighed in yesterday...but since I have been avoiding the scales for a month now I dont have any proguress to report.  Yesterday will be my start weight I guess--unfortunately the highest its been in a year (which its when I started CC for the first time...and stuck with it for about 6 months then stopped and did it on my own...then started eating bad again and gained half of the weight back--at least not all of it).  Anyway, now I have a start weight and am hoping to lose 8 lbs by my bday Feb 8th!  Good luck to all!

and Laeisha...if you are craving a salty snack when you give up your pork rinds...you can try lightly salted rice cakes for only 25-30 cals each!  When I did cal count the first time I did really good snacking on carrots with low cal balsamic vinaigrette (25 cals for 2 tbs) or salsa or snacking on fruit.  Also--I realized that half of my snacking was just boredom, so when I had the urge to snack but I knew I wasnt hungry (only bored), I made a cup of hot tea (different flavors like peppermint, orange spice, pomegranate, etc) or low cal hot chocolate (30 cals plus added calcium).  Maybe that will help you!

Hi guys...your weekends weren't as bad as mine!!  It was a vacation weekend to Atl for my boyfriends birthday!  Romantic dinner (we did the same thing...no thanks to desert and then they brought us something free)...lots of wine...pizza Sunday pm....beer at the football game sunday!  Not good at all!! I am going to be extra good today and tomorrow, enjoy dinner Thursday without over-indulging (I hope) and then be extra good Friday-Christmas eve!  I haven't been good so far...just been maintaining.  After being stuffed like a Turkey all weekend (and regretting it/feeling uncomfortable) I am motivated not to do that again!  And I am sticking to salads when I have to eat dinner late!  Good luck to all!

Thanks for the advice...I dont really get a dinner break at work so I can just push off lunch until 3ish and then get to work around 4.  Maybe if I make a snack/dinner and put it in the fridge and know that that is exactly what I will eat when I get home will help. thanks for your advice!

I have the same problem! You are not alone!  Especially when I dont get home from work until 10-12 at night!  Then I eat some "dinner" but nothing hits the spot...if I eat salty I want sweet, if I eat something soft I want crunchy!  I go to bed stuffed and miserable and say well tomorrow is a new day! I am going to try to come back and check this forum later tonight when I get that urge! maybe it will help!

Urgh!  I was so excited when we started this group but I have been avoiding it as of late because I have been terrible!  Eating bad and not making it to the gym...I work crazy hours (desk job from 9:30 to 2:30 ish, restaurant job from 4 to 11-12 in the am).  I am eating late at night, and for some reason, crave carbs like crazy!  I am too tired in the morning to go to the gym then regret it all day.  I really want to recommit to this group though.  I just figured if I wrote this post it would force me to hold myself accountable! wish me luck and post any tips you guys might have for my late night eating...I guess tonight I will try and reach for the carrots and celery in the fridge instead of bread and peanut butter....gym tomorrow am!

Motivation fellow emotional eater? Nov 18 2008

I am definitely an emotional eater...especially late at night which is when my  binges occur. ):  I dont get home from work until 11-12 at night and havent eaten since like 3 so by then I am starving.  Often times, I am stressed from work and eat to make myself feel better.  I am trying to convince myself that the temporary happiness from the food I am eating won't last! I spend the whole day after a binge regretting it--so, if I remind myself that food=temporary good feelings and a whole day of bad feelings and regret, then maybe I can beat the binge! good luck...I know I need it too!

what are everyone's exercise plans for losing that last 5-7?  Focus more on cardio, more on weights, or a balance?  I am trying to make it to the gym 5 days a week--made 4 last week and 2 so far this week!  Some days are better work outs than other, but I feel like I need a plan!

Santana...I am totally with you!  I do pretty well Monday through Friday (which is hard working in a restaurant and sometimes not having dinner until LATE), but when it comes to the weekend--I struggle.  A few drinks leads to munchies or a late night sober up snack, and its never good!  I am trying to cut back on drinking, which should be a little easier now that football season is almost over!  good luck to you! any other ways you all are trying to reach our goal?

I have been wearing the same pair of Asics for a few years...and I really like them except I feel like they are heavy.  I was interested in the nikes that can hook up to your IPod and measure distance for you, but I knew they were expensive, and I heard a lot about Shox but more just their appearance.  I am glad I read these posts before trying them!  I think I will most likely stick with Asics, but I didnt know if there were brands out there I am not aware of.  I was kind of curious too if people wore the same shoe everytime they run or if they mixed it up.  thanks for all the responses!
