Sorry couldn't help myself.  I watch much too much Bravo.

Ah don't worry Antika, my weight fluctuates so much but still moves in a downward way (when you look at it from far away).  You should see my weightloss graph, it's crazy looking, hehe.

I feel ya though about wanting to eat.  Whenever my weight starts to go up (probably just from not enough water the day before, etc.) it makes me want to sit down and eat a whole bag of baked cheetos (oh baked cheetos my arch nemesis!!!).  Be strong and stay away from the cheetos :)

As far as what you and Kristagail said about sports bras and fat-sucker suits- that reminds me SO MUCH of me trying to get in my strapless bra for the wedding I was in last month.  It's a long one that goes from my boobs down to my belly button and it probably has 15  hooks up the back.  At first I would make my boyfriend help me but then for the last few fittings he couldn't go with me and I had to get it on myself.  It was hilarious!!  I definitely couldn't close it behind my back so I tried it in the front and then to spin it but of course I couldn't no matter how much I grunted and sweated.  I even tried powdering myself up with baby powder first (how embarassing!!!).  Finally I figured out that if I snap it on the side, then fold it over, then turn it the right way, then unfold it, it somewhat resembles a bra afterwards.

Just another reason why this weight has to go!

I only started watching halfway through the season and I guess I was hoping Rock would win but honestly neither of them really did it for me.

I definitely prefer Top Chef to Hells Kitchen- there might not be as much drama (still plenty though) but I think the chefs are much more talented. You guys think so too or no?

I actually just cleared out my largest sizes yesterday!

Last Christmas my dad gave me $250 in those american express gift cards and I still haven't spent them because I wanted to buy clothes with them but not at size 18!!!

I have since lost about 22lbs (still a lot to go) and am down to a 14.  Today (in about 15 minutes actually!!) I'm going shopping with my boyfriend (who has also lost weight) to spent that money and get some smaller nice clothes for the new school year.

I threw out 2 large garbage bags of big, ugly clothes that I was holding onto "just in case" I gained the weight back.  THAT IS NOT AN OPTION!!  I refuse to gain it back so the big ugly t-shirts and shapeless sweaters are gone.

Get rid of them if they don't fit!
Foods mercury and fish Aug 13 2007

I'm not completely sure but I don't think any particular ocean is worse off for mercury than another.  Maybe someone else knows for sure though.  The reason I think that is because the majority of mercury enters the water from rain which contains pollutants from the burning of fossil fuels, particularly coal.  Maybe smaller oceans have more concentrated amounts?  It would seem though that currents would travel it around and spread it out everywhere.   As you can tell I'm just musing here and none of this has any scientific fact backing it!

As for eating fish from foreign countries, as a general rule I try to stick to USA and Canada (a bit easier for me though living on the coast than others in the middle of the country) and refuse to eat any fish from China.  You can't trust the food safety of items from China and the fish is especially LOADED with antibiotics and hormones.

Enough blabbering for me!

I'm from Massachusetts which has a million rules about insurance, etc.

Now I live in New Hampshire (which is like the wild west, Live Free or Die!) you don't have to have car insurance at all- it's kinda crazy.

I needed a "fat sucker" for the wedding I was just in and I got a long line strapless bra that worked really well.  It was pretty comfortable (hot though) and it held these puppies up and sucked the belly right in.  Because it had boning from the boobs down to my waist, it has something to sit on (my hips) to keep the boobs up.

I forget where I got it from, but I'll look around a bit if you're interested; I think it was about $50.

I like the fat-free half and half (so far have tried Simply Smart and Land o Lakes).  I haven't noticed the chalky residue- maybe its the brand or maybe I am less sensitive to that?

Hi everyone, is it too late to join this group?

I was just a bridesmaid on July 21st and was not happy to be wearing a size 18 with 4 other girls of size 6 and under. UGHHHHHHHHH (davids bridal, 81123 color latte)

I am the maid of honor in a wedding next June and would like to be more like a 10 or 8 (oh the joy).

My name: Kate
Maid of honor of: friend, Lia
Date: June 22 2008
Goal: 80 lbs (lost 20 so far)

This is a link to the dress (so far anyway, she may change her mind):

www.davidsbridal.com
  Dress style #8567
  Color: persimmon

I actually like the dress, even though I will never really have cause to wear a full length strapless ballgown again!

Edit: the link because it won't work!

Health & Support Not strep and Not Mono.... Jul 30 2007

If your strep test came back negative then for gods sake DO NOT take antibiotics!

You probably have a viral sinus infection which is causing post-nasal drip.  Post-nasal drip is enough to give you a sore throat because all that snot is draining down there and is full of virus and bacteria (the normal ones).  Your immune system tries to fight it off which is why you are irritated in your throat and have a small fever.  Colds can last a long time, just let it run its course.

Don't panic! You'll be fine.  Drink OJ (or otherwise get a lot of vitamin C), eat enough especially protein and get a lot of sleep.

This is pathetic but, today I went to the gym because it was so hot outside and at my house that even being hot (working out) in an air conditioned gym was cooler than sweating sitting on my couch.

whatever works I guess!

I can't stand when people quote the bible-  it is NOT the word of god but the words of some old geezers with agendas of their own.  It's like one two thousand year old game of telephone with the message and stories changing and adapting each time it was copied over and translated.

ugh!!

Gah!  I LOVE M. Night movies, especially The Village- that is one of my favorite movies!  Lady in the Water was also good but not as good as The Village.

Just because the ending wasn't scary doesn't mean there isn't a lesson there.

Hi Girls!
I don't want this thread to fade to oblivian so I am posting again :D

I'm going to that wedding this weekend; we leave tonight and come back on Sunday night.  That's 3 full days without calorie counting (won't have time or computer access).  I'm going to do my best to count in my head but with the bf's family cooking and wedding food, etc., this is going to be hard!  The magic number is going to be 2100- maintain, maintain, maintain.  I can deal with that!

Let's get some progress reports from everyone else :D

I'm with you spirochete-  That whole "i got pregnant on the pill twice" thing made my heart race faster than an hour on the elliptical...ugh!

Baby would not be a good thing for me at this time. I am also in grad school but I can't be pregnant in the lab I work in since we deal with pathogens- I'd have to take the whole year off before hand and then whatever time after- just not possible!

Well Kewinters-  I'm sorry if you were hoping for a baby, and congrats if you weren't :)

Fitness amino acid for muscles Jul 17 2007
17:02 (UTC)
1
Just eat something high in protein.  Protein is made up entirely of amino acids.  Your body will break it down and recycle the amino acids into protein of your own (muscle!).

You can also buy supplements- I don't have any of those except some GNC whey protein that my boyfriend bought a while back though I don't really eat it.  The container says it is high in branched-chain amino acids which are supposed to be extra super duper awesome (can you tell I don't have any idea what they do specifically?  Maybe they are difficult to get from food sources.)

I'm sure someone else can give you some suggestions if you are looking for a supplement.

Sometimes I am, but sometimes when things just aren't going well I'll spend some time here escaping from the harsh reality that is my job (why did I decide to do this exactly?)

I do the same thing as you Rufftumbler- I like protein for breakfast.  Its worth it to me to have a small lunch if I can eat a lot for breakfast.

I have NEVER been one of those tiny or no breakfast people.  I love eggs! (now eggbeaters, hehe).

Also, if you exercise some (or some more) you can eat more!

I just do 30 min on the elliptical at my school before I head home for the day, it only adds like 45 minutes to my entire day including getting in there/dressed/etc. and it burns 350/400 calories, about 250/300 of which I will eat back.
