I have a couple friends who are Ashley and Austin (which are pretty common names here) who combined their names for their son Ashtin.  I love it.

There are several unusual or uncommon names in my family or my husbands family too.

My niece is Lydia - fairly old fashioned but I like it

My cousin - Darla Gay apparently these were pretty common when she was named but I never hear them used for anyone else

Different cousin has a daughter named Tayden. Her hubby is American Indian and I guess that is where they came up with this pretty name

Hubbys niece - Tiara, her son is Cade

Another niece has a son named Shaden

What I don't understand is the way my family acts.  They would never have called me fat or overweight or said you are going to have poor health if you dont start to control your weight.  Now that I am 8-10 pounds from goal they keep saying "you can stop now or How much are you planning to lose?".  I wonder if they even realize that I am at a healthy weight now as compared to before?  Its not like I lost the weight overnight.  It came off slowly and I have tried to be as healthy about it as possible.  I think they have backwards thinking.  sigh...

I can still find the light & fit 60 cal here in Iowa.  I think the important thing is to take the reported calories with a grain of salt....  You know they are allowed a certain amount of leeway.  I to try to be religious about counting too but some things are just never going to be what is reported.  So "packaged" foods I expect some variation and the stuff I prepare myself I weigh.

I am not sure of my weight at my heaviest but when I started CC in Feb I was 166.5.  I have lost 38.5 since then and am at 128.  My goal is 120.  The last pounds are coming off slowly but that's ok, I want them to stay off.

I tried to look at both of your pic's but didnt see any in your profile.  But 9 and 12 pounds are pretty close just as I am.  Good work!  Its is aggrivating when we don't notice our losses as much as others isn't it!

No, you will still lose, but its just like every other part of getting healthy...the better you are at it the better the results.

Unfortunately I rarely get in my 8 hours, but I do agree that it is important to try.  I definitely notice better weight loss results if I get a regular 8 hours for several days in a row.

10.5 to go.   I was down 2.5 more than today but I went on vacation and it was worth it!  Besides I know I can do it now!

I actually gain more in the summer (until I started CC).  I tend to go to more parties and drink more alcoholic beverages than in the winter.  I do eat too much during the winter months/holidays but that is only a few weeks and my family doesn't drink during the holidays so at least it is only eating not drinking as well.  I have learned moderation this summer so I am close to goal but I am positive I would have reached my goal by now if I could have stayed away from drinking.  I just figure its worth it to take longer and still have fun!

I don't eat the lean cuisine meals but I do have smart ones usually 5 days a week.  I have been using cc since Feb and and I have been losing at a healthy rate while eating them.  I am currently 9 pounds from goal.  Also I recently had blood pressure and cholesterol checked and everything is good on that end.

Like Peaches mentioned if you watch how you eat the rest of the day I don't think the sodium amount in the boxed meals will hinder your efforts.  While I do think it is important to watch your sodium intake unless you eat boxed meals for every meal you should be fine.  Of course many people disagree with this but in my experience they have not had an adverse effect on my weight loss efforts or my health.

For me it works with very little exercise.  I started at 166.5 and I am now 10 pounds from my goal of 120.  It definitely slows down the closer I get to my goal because being lighter I am naturally burning less calories...hence slower weight loss.  Which is fine with me, because from what I understand the slower it comes off, the easier it is to maintain.

I have done very little "regular" exercise.  I do a weekly ride that is about 30 miles total (15 down and 15 back).  This ride includes a stop at the bar in the middle of the 30 mile ride and I can guarantee the drinks and occasional fried "bar food" we eat more than makes up for any calories I burn.  Anyhow, my point is, I did not have to maintain a regular exercise program during this time and have continued to lose weight by counting calories only.  Good luck!

Not trying to hijack this thread or anything but..... I cannot find bananas that are worth eating this month.  I don't know if I have terrible timing or what but I generally go to the grocery store at least 2 times a week and the bananas have all looked way over ripe.  And I like mine pretty ripe.....not green at all.  At this point I feel like I really need a few.

I love tea...  I am trying to break from diet sodas too and it is helping.

I have been drinking hot tea almost exclusively mainly because it is so warm and soothing.  I work in a data center so it is cold and low humidity and the hot tea hits the spot.  I like to mix it up so to speak.  I will make a big glass using Bigelow spiced chai and cinnamon teas (1 bag each).  Its really tasty.  I also like earl grey quite a bit.

On 7 grain bread with turkey lettuce and onions!  If you feel like splurging add a bit of turkey bacon.   MMMMMMM

Wow! Wow!! WOW!!!  You look so good, quite amazing.  I am so happy for you!  I have been thrilled with my progress so far so I can just imagine how you are feeling about now.  Talk about the natural high you must be on!  I can't wait to see you when you make it to your final goal!  Thanks for posting your successful results.

Weekdays I always have a yogurt with either some fiber one in it or a few almonds on the side. Also a granny smith apple or bananna.  My weekends vary quite a bit. I have a poached or boiled egg and some ww toast.  Sometimes I have egg beaters with bell peppers onion and garlic in it.  Maybe oatmeal..

Lunch or dinner vary quite a bit but I would say 99% of the time I have garlic with both meals.  I love to roast a head of garlic on the grill with a bit of evoo drizzled on it and eat the whole head.  Once they are nicely roasted the cloves slide right out of the skin like butter. I know its a little much for most people but I love it and garlic is good for you!mmmm

ohio45, do you roast your asparagus in the oven or on the grill?

I have been on a huge kick of having grilled (some may call it roasted) bell peppers.  Sometimes I eat 2 whole peppers.  I prefer the yellow and orange but the green and red are good too.  I just clean them and drizzle a very small amount of evoo on them and throw them on the grill with my chicken breast.  Cook until your desired doneness.   I have even done this when I was out of evoo and they taste fine, just a tendency to stick a bit.

Udokier, you are right.  I am sure it is more than 26 pounds, but I am only counting since I have been actively tracking here at CC!  I hadn't even considered I may look younger but I sure do feel younger, not to mention feeling better overall.

There is a cafeteria where I work.  I used to buy diet dr pepper there every day.  Well I noticed one day that the one I ordered wasn't right but I let it go.  The next day same thing.  So I asked one of the cashiers I was friendly with to check it.  Not only was it wrong it was mr pibb xtra....extra calories and extra caffene!  I always ask now if I suspect.  It also helped me to drink less soft drinks.  I take one with my lunch every day and only drink water the rest of the day.

I try my best to use proper grammar and correct spelling.  I'm sure I make mistakes sometimes though.  I want to have it right and prefer to be called out on my mistakes.  I can admit it when I make mistakes and if someone points it out to me I just might get it right the next time!  That's what CC is all about for me.  Getting it right, weather it is my healthy lifestyle or just simple forum posts.

Win the lottery so I am able to do the things in my "bucket" and put my parents in a position that they never ever have to worry about money again.  I want them to be able to retire and just do whatever they want without a worry in the world.

  • Tour the US by bicycle.  There are so many beautiful places to see here and i've done the cross country trips by car, I think I've missed so much more than when going by bike.  Oh the mountains by bike.....if only! 
  • Spend several months in Hawaii, not leaving the bike at home of course but I think alot of this time being spent on the beach or hiking so the bike will not always be necessary.
  • Spend time in so many other countries I can't pick a favorite.
  • Eventually just live out the rest of my life in the mountains in NC or TN.
