Hi Karen,

When I read your intro. line 'Mid Change Blues' I immediately thought it was regarding peri menopause symptoms....which is what I may be experiencing.  However, I've lost my appetite due to serious depression, partially due to SAD (seasonal  active depression).  I do attend the gym as much as possible, because running increases endorphins & serotonin levels which helps with mood swings.

My diet lately consists of 2 egg whites/1yolk, turkey bacon, or apple slices and peanut butter.  I love chicken breasts with broccoli and cottage cheese.  For a snack it's usually apple slices & peanut butter and lots of water.  I also enjoy hummas with 3 or 4 club crackers.  Most of all, I don't eat after 7.  If the temptation gets too bad I'll have a blow pop or sip a diet soda or a cup of coffee.  The coffee helps if I'm craving something sweet.

I know my situation is very different from yours but I hope it will bring some encouragement.  We all have cravings; we just have to find a low-cal alternative .

God Bless,

Denise = )

Hi guys,

I hope everyone is doing great.  I'm doing pretty good.  I've cut my eating back to....no eating after 6.  That's really hard!!  Trying to get dinner done by 6:00 is the hardest part.  Last night, I only had time for a salad a small bowl of yellow squash.  Needless to say, by 8:00 I felt like I hadn't eaten all day....I was starving.  However, watching "The Biggest Loser" was helpful....because I knew they were probably going through the same thing! lol  I had a piece of gum while watching to help take my mind off my stomach.....cuz water doesn't help! lol

Well, enough of my complaining again!

Good Luck all,

Denise : )

Terry, that is a beautiful shot!!  We lived in NC for a few years and I never made it to the OBX.  We took it for granted and thought we'd be there awhile I guess? Now we regret not going.

Hi Cynthia~~ Welcome to our group!

We are always here for one another.....wait!  I should say, they are always here for me. lol  I say that because they've all been losing and I've not.  Therefore, they've been very encouraging & supportive....with lots of great suggestions as well.  One in which I've incorporated this week.....not eating after 7:00.  I've tried to take it a lil' step farther & not eat after 6:30.  It's not easy might I add.  I drink lots of water and cannot wait for bedtime ea. night! lol  But I do think it's working by the way I feel (I've not gotten on the scale).

We typically do our weigh-ins on Friday morning and then post our results....whether we've lost 1, 2 or like me 0 lbs!

Hey Welcome again and

Best of luck to you,

Denise : )

Good Morning all~

Thanks for the info., Arlis.   I enjoyed reading it.....one can never have too many ideas for dieting.  What works for one person, may not work for another.

Thanks for the support Terry....you guys are the best!!!  Smile

I've tried to take a more light-hearted approach and not worry so much about my weight.  Some days I'm consumed with reading info on the web or buying magazines such as, Women's Health.  In the past I've pasted my face on the body of a model from a magazine....it did help motivate me...just to remind me of why I'm working out so hard. lol

Also, I've come to terms with the fact that I am gaining muscle and this is another reason why the scale isn't tipping in the right direction.  Because we all know that muscle weighs more than fat.  However, I don't see my waist or anything else shrinking either.....which is what I want.  I wouldn't mind weighing 142lbs if my waistline was shrinking in the meantime....right? lol

Take care guys,

Denise : )

I never weigh & measure my food, either.  However, over the weekend I did buy new dishes @ IKEA and the smaller plates are the perfect size.  There's no way I can over eat.  I too just eyeball my portions.....hum, maybe that's what my problem is....perhaps I should get glasses?!?! LOL jk

I have to admit....this morning I felt so much better since not eating after 6:30 last night.  I'm going to try to make that a routine every evening.  My daughter tells me.. that is how her boyfriend lost weight....he never eats after 6pm.  He's lost alot of weight in the past 6 mos.

Take care,

Denise : )

I guess you're right. I just need to be patient.  However, I tend to be hard on myself, especially when I see everyone else losing and I've got nothing to report.   I would be grateful to report even 1lb!! : )

I'm done with dinner (6:30) and I'm drinking my water this evening....

Have a great evening,

Denise

Hi Marie~~

Thanks for your support.  I am slacking on getting to the computer on the weekends to log my food, but during the week I'm pretty good about logging everything in.  Somedays I'm only eating about 1700 cal. and other days it's more like 2000 cal.   I'd like to keep it below 1900 and perhaps even that's too much?

As for the gym....I am doing weight training and cardio....an example....mondays I usually work shoulders (3 different exercises, 3 sets, 12-15 reps) and as for as cardio...I alternate between the treadmill and the eliptical (20-30mins)...depending on how my knees are feeling.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.  I really do appreciate it!!

Denise ; )

Hi Hope~

Thanks for the advice.  I will try your suggestions this week.....not eating after 7.  I've only been doing 2 hrs before bedtime....but I'm sure you're right.  The sooner I quit eating before bedtime the better off I'll be....and I'm sure I could always use more water....even though I'm not especially fond of it! lol  I try to force myself to drink 3-4 bottles per day.  Thanks again!! Smile

Good Morning All~~

I've not any good news to report again this week....I'm in a slump and cannot lose anymore weight.  If any of you have suggestions I'm ready to listen.  I'm killing myself in the gym each day....and I've really been careful about portion control (I think).  I've developed tennis elbow and the extreme cold is effecting my knees so I'm hoping this doesn't effect my workouts for next week!  Anyway, sorry for sounding so negative today.  I wish all of you much success!!  Congrats to all of you with a loss to report this week.  Laughing

Hi all~~

I didn't bother weighing this morning...after my results Friday...I'm going to give it a rest until this Friday.  I'm hoping the next time I weigh-in I'll show some results.

I hope all of you had a great week!  Smile

ah, So. Cal....I used to live in San Diego....I miss it alot!  Now I live in MI...what a culture shock!  I absolutely hate snow and as Sandy mentioned...we wake up to gray skies e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y! lol  With the exception for today....the sun is shining!! yay Cool  You know, I just realized.....I drink a lot of energy drinks and mostly Monster Lo-Carb and this site rates it a "D" because it's high in sugar & sodium so I'm going to switch to the Monster Assault...that gets an "A!"

How did you guys make out for Valentines?  I thought I did really well...until today?  My husband picked me up for lunch and wanted Pizza Hut buffet....now I gotta go "kill" myself in the gym!  There's nothing healthy at Pizza Hut (I'm being facetious, as usual) they probably add fat to their salads too (no salad bar they make 'em in the back & bring it out to ya). lol   I guess I can't complain about.. not losing weight when I'm eating like that, ay?  Best of luck to all of you and have a great weekend!

Sounds like everyone is doing great! Cool  I'm sad to report that I didn't lose even one pound!? Cry  I'm trying to look on the bright side....at least I didn't gain either, but it isn't helping.  However, I'm not giving up.  I'll just try a new approach next week until I find something that works.  If I could only get my butt outta bed early in the morning to do cardio that would probably work....but in the winter time...it's simply hard getting outta bed period!

ah geez, the moment of truth, ay?  Well, I currently weight 142lbs and I'd like to weight 130lbs or less....I mean hey, if I'm on a losing streak, I'm not going to say nothing! lol  I'm approx. 5'6"......I've been working out pretty hard in the gym, but my appetite has increased also.  Therefore, I'm not losing any of the fat....I mean com'on already.....why am I not fitting in my clothes yet?....what's up with that???LOL.  So that's pretty much it...if I could control my portions...I'm thinking that might help.  I suppose when I get hungry I'll have chew on a piece of celery....yum!

So, it sounds like we'll all be weightin' in tomorrow, correct?  I've probably not lost anything....haven't seen any changes.  Best of luck to all of you!!

Hello~

I hope you guys have room for one more.  I've recently hit the 40's and I'm starting to see my weight on a steady increase and it doesn't want to come off.  I'm getting really frustrated as my clothes aren't fitting anymore and I find myself having to buy a larger size...ugh!!  I can't seem to control my portion sizes.  You'd think I lived through the depression years with the way I'm thinking I won't be able to eat again for the rest of the day...lol...it's awful!!

I'm thinking about buying some of those kids plates from the store. to help with portion control...lol...somethings gotta give.  I'm hoping you guys have some advice for me.  HELP!! lol : )Sealed
