bootser1: I will start looking into the nursing school. I think I can plan for a 6-month school. Thank you for lighting a hope for me. sintiachita: I am reading the book you recommended. I don't know if I want to stay marry or out of it right now. But, no matter what decision I will make, I think I need to start schooling myself to live without him and possibily my children. I need to be able to earn my live if not for supplementing my family but for me. Thank you both for answering my post. Sometimes, it is just a wonderfully feeling to be able to rely on strangers' kindness. |

Your pinpoints answered quite a mental confusion I've had since I was in the maintenance stage. It cleared my mind on exercise, food amount v.s. exercise, and the length of time for successful weight maintenance to be permanent. It is really helpful. Thanks for sharing. |

I read from some of the messages on this web site regarding this issue. The suggestion I can remember is stay away from REFINED SUGAR. You will see slightly difference in one week without any refined sugar intake. After three weeks, you will notice the change. Have not tried it myself but will love to hear from someone who had tried or is trying it right now. |

Refined sugar means belly fat. I should avoid it at all cost, I believe. Fruit is a natural food which means to be eaten by us, the beautiful women. Unless you have health issue, I think you can choose the low sugar fruit. Grapefruit is pretty good if you don't dislike it. The white grapefruit is the best fruit for weight loss. I don't think it will cause you to crave for more sweet. '"ry it! Try it! You will see," said Dr. Seuss. : ) Check out the 'Good Eats' by Alton Bron for self made protein bar and drink if you'd like to save some $. I think the ready to (protein) drink on the market tastes about the same to me, kind of nasty. ;> You might not feel that though. "Try it! Try it! You will see," said Dr. Seuss. : ) |

Every body works a little different and eats somewhat differently. The following modification is what I will do. 1. I will aim for 1200 cal per day but allow myself to go slightly higher or lower each day. So, I will feel I am eating creatively and in control of my life. 2. Because I followed high protein and very low carb diet, I will put lots effort on eating protein food and very little carb. Therefore, cereal and rice are out of the diet plan until I reach my goal weight. Corn product should be eliminated, too. So, no popcorn! 3. I personally have no liking of juice from any kind of fruit. I drink plain green tea only. I don't know what is the best action of your v8 juice. Overall, your meal plan looks pretty good. If I may modify a little bit, the following list is what I would consider B+. You can twist it to your liking and make it A+. ----------------------- Breakfast: 4oz fat free milk + fresh fruit + 1 Luna bar + protein drink Snack: 1 apple Lunch: Cucumbers w/ tomatoes in lime juice (<-- pretty good! Keep your green going on your diet.) Lunch: 5oz Turkey or 7oz Lean Turkey Snack: Yogurt or popcorn (<-- Move your last snack between lunch and dinner. Eat fruit. Your skin will look beautiful after a few weeks on eating enough fruit per day.
Dinner: Chicken/Fish (Broiled) (this is where I mess up with qty) (<---- Use Mrs. Dash seasoning to cook fish or chicken. Don't use salt. You will feel like a great chef. 7oz is a good # to follow. I always measure my potion and put them in freezer during weekend.) Dinner: 1/4 cup of rice (<---BAD! 40+ Female needs to stay away from it.) Try 1 slice of 40 cal lite white bread twice in a day instead. Dinner: Salad (romaine, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, olives, peppers) Exercise: 30-90 minutes on Treadmill <--- This is what I have been doing, too. Keep your heart beat up about 120 a few times a week. 10-15 minutes on warming up at least to keep from being injure. I have knee and heel problems, so I only walked at slow speed. I start jogging this month for 5 minutes each time, then walk for about 40 minutes. ------------------------- If you feel eating after dinner, try 5 cal sugar free gel at least 2 hrs before bed time. If your hungry, make a protein drink 2 hrs before bed time. Rememb er protein is the key. |

There is a south beach diet group on the forum. I'd like to suggest you to check it out. One of my relatives lost 10 lbs in a few weeks by following this plan. I read about the wheat thing, not just wheat bread, on one medical article several months ago. Don't remember where it was from any more. Stay away from wheat if you are 40+ and want to lose weight. You can pick up your yogurt after you reach your goal weight. BTW, stay away from banana for now. Pick it back up later, too. As for the 6pm rules, perhap you'd like this. "If you eat after eight, you are sure to gain weight!" Do you have your daily diet and exercise plan set up now? Would you like us to discuss it a little? |

Haa.... I know that! See, when I was 160, I looked old enough to be my husband's MOM! I also found out that my husband was looking at other girls with guilty feeling. ;> I was usually the one who attracted others attention, and I want those attention back to me again! So, along with other reasons, I just could not take the 160lbs of me any more on 12/24/07. I was a very impulsed person sometimes. I made an almost deadly mistake which brought out my husband's biggest concern. So, we both decided that I should eat as much food as I like and want for a few days. Then, I went straight into diet. My diet plan was high protein and very low carb. I used no more than 1/4 tbs of lite salt. I ate fresh fish and fresh fruit. I don't like can food. I also ate every 3-4 hours and finished dinner by 6pm. After 6pm, I stop eating. If I was craving of food after 6pm, I drank protein drink or had Hunt's 5g cal sugar free jello. The key is 'Don't Think!' When you did not think about you were on diet, you are half way through your weight lost journey. Following is my diet plan. Breakfast: Vitamin or any supplements, 4 oz Fatfree milk, protein drink/bar, 1/2 grapefruit. Mid Am: 1 Floria Orange Lunch: 7oz of fish, 2 servings of vegetables, 1 slice of 40cal Natural Own Lite White bread. (Female over 40 should stay away from wheat if working on losing weight.) Mid PM: 1/2 Grapefruit (should be eatten at least 5 hours before bedtime.) Dinner: Similar formula as Lunch. (should be eaten at least 4 hours before bedtime.) I drank lots plain green tea and 64oz of water throughout the day. During these 4 months, every week I walked 30 minutes on treadmill 3 times, took 1hr Pilate class, 1 hr cadio class. I stopped weight tr a few weeks after I started my diet. It seemed my weight training was interfering with my weight reduction goal. After I stopped weight training, my weight started to come down. I am planning to pick up my weight training during the summer break. My post is too long. If you need specific answer on how I do my weight lost diet, I'd happy to answer them as much as I can. P.S. The information listed above is my personal experience on how I reached my goal weight. I know how important the weight training is, and there is no need to dig into this topic according to my post.

Long long time ago when I was in college. I had a boy friend whom I had dated for 2 to 3 years and was talking about marriage. One day, he called me that he met the other girl and that girl felt very sorry to be the 3rd person into our relationship. She was willing to be the 2nd wife called me the big sister to one man. She can cook according to my ex-boy friend. And, he would treat us equally. I thought that was wonderful as I grew up in an all boy family and never cooked in my life. I thought that would work out super that she could cook, clean house, etc. and I could go out to work and came home with food ready. I told my ex-b that. He told me I have to share the load with her. Do you all see problem here? If we were really a family, a husband with 2 wives, Should the tasks be split among 3? Situation #1. That girl would stay home being a housewife. Me and the man would go out to work and bring home $. I guessed to share among 3. Me would have to share the work load with that girl after work. What was that man going to do after work? Watch TV? My Solution: I could go out to work and hire a maid to cook and clean my house. No need to share my $ with another 2. Situation #2. If I was in heat and it was not my turn to have sex with that man and had to hear their love-making sound next room, would it be allowed to join them and have a 3P. Would I be jealous? Would I be accused of intentionally interfere with their love making? Would that man allowe me to go out to have sex with another man and claim the child might not be his? My solution: I preferred a man who would be available whenever I would be in heat. I wanted to be a lovely jealous woman if my man dare to have sex with other woman. My total understanding of that situation was that I really did not love him at all. All I like about that idea was having someone to cook for me. Sorry, this post seems like out of topic. What I want to say is unless love is not involved or not important to you, I don't see polygamy is even worth thinking about. BTW, the definition of polygamy from dictionary is,'The custom or practice of having more than one WIFE at the same time."

I love weight training. When I started my weight lost on 1/1/08, I was 160. I did diet, cardio, and weight training all together. My weight stayed the same for a few weeks. That really upset me. I am not a big person. However, with 160 lbs, I look like a bulky man. So, I decided to get to my goal weight, 130, then pick up my weight training. I reached my 130 on 3/31/08 (or 4/1/08). I am now looking slim and almost extremely proud of myself. :) I'd like to see myself in 125 lbs by end of this month. I might keep myself somewhere between 125 and 130. At the meantime, I do pilate, cardio, and walking. I am planning to put weight training into my exercise routine this month. I do enjoy Pilate. It helps in some degrees on toning my tummy, butts, and thighs. |

| Hey, you will make it to your goal weight someday. Just don't keep that goal date too long. I take only 30 or 40-minute walk leisurely 3 times per week, 1 Pilate, and 2 low impact cardio classes. I am losing weight about 2 lbs per week. I hit plateau at least once per month. You will get where you want to go eventually. Just keep with what you are doing right now and add a little bit in when you feel like to. We are here for you. | |||

| My husband is totally agree with you. He wants everything in real form. I don't care if it is in real form or not. I like sweet but cannot stand those low sugary drink. They taste way too sweet for me.
I do have a question. Will you use honey to substitute sugar in cooking or drinking? Is there any benefit for it? I am in the mode to try that for my family. I will wait until I reach my goal weight then join them if it is a good health idea. |

I think it depends on every 'body' situation. Many here might say that I am wrong. However, here is my opinion and I stick with it for 'myself'. I was 160 lbs on 1/1/08. I want to get tone and be slim at the weight of 130 or 125. So, I am trying to lose weight right now. I am 137 lbs at this moment. I will start my weight training when I am either 125 or 130. I believe I will look slim and tone at the weight of 125/130. |

You cannot make people like you if they don't want to. But, REMEMBER, don't let others "TAKE" your pleasure and love for your life away. That is in your power to control. Do you understand what I mean? If those people treat you wrong and you let yourself sink in self-pity and sadness for a long time, you are letting others taking your life away. In return, your children and yourself are being just what others feel you should be. Don't hate those people, either. They won't get hurt by your emotions, but you will become ugly. Then, others not so bias against you won't feel right to be near you. It takes time for people to get use to new thinks and new people. "TRY TO LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE NOT WHAT OTHERS WANT YOU TO LIVE." |

| I tried to stay <= 1000mg on my diet. I found out that I would stay losing weight when the intake stay in range. If I ate more than 1200mg or 1500 mg, my body took about 4 to 5 days to go back to weight losing mode. SO, you might like to find the comfortable range for your body and stay within. | |||

I think what you are asking for is the pattern of food distributed in one whole day. Below is the way I run my days. I lost 20 lbs since 1/1/08. So, it may be a useful pattern. Breakfast: Vitamin, Protein Drink, Water, Protein Bar. Fruit mid-morning: fruit Lunch: Meat(mainly fish), 2 serving of vegitables, 1 40-cal lite white bread mid-afternoon : fruit Dinner: Meat(mainly fish), 2 serving of vegitables, 1 40-cal lite white bread I also drink lots plain green tea. If I feel like something sweet, I will have the hunt's sugar free 5-cal gel. I ate all my food at least 4 hours before bedtime and Hunt's Gel at least 2 hours

I will try to reduce the sugary things a little bit at a time. Eventually, you might not be so trouble to just let it out of your night life. How about take your last protein bar at least 2 hours before bed time? Protein will fill you somehow and protein bar tastes sweet to me.
