Fallon you are now my new best friend!! Starbucks I LOVE Starbucks, you know what is really good there on a hot summer day, a light mocha Frapacchino (don't know if I spelt that right). That sucks about your job, being surrounded by yummy foods all day and having to say no to it, my prays go out to you :) Hey Bluesky I have a great idea about a challenge, why don't we try to set up a personal goal of how many hours we are active (i.e. the gym, biking, hiking, playing on your Wii Fitness, doing a workout dvd and so on). It can be a week thing and we can start on Monday (Monday June 9, 2008 - Monday June 16, 2008). I think I will set my goal at 15hrs of activity for this week. What do you think? |

Homer: Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try Lionel Hutz: Well, he's kind of had it in for me ever since I accidentally ran over his dog. Actually, replace "accidentally" with "repeatedly," and replace "dog" with "son." Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon? Grandpa: My Homer is not a communist. He may be a liar, a pig, an idiot, a communist, but he is not a porn star. |

Original Post by jackattack07: It is very hard to say no to yummy fatty carbs and it is even harder to have it in a small portion because once you have one spoon full you want the second and then the third and then it's just game over. |

Hi everyone, I hope I am not to late to join your group. My name is Janice I am 26 yrs old. I started CC in the beginning of Feb. /08 and I weighed 251lbs. I went on the scale this morning and I weighed 206lbs. My short term goal is to weigh 190 by June 24, 2008, I am having an operation on my back that day and I may be off for a couple of weeks so I want to be at a weight where I am comfortable (well as comfortable as I can be). My final goal is to weight 135-140lbs. This is going to be hard because I live a very busy life and I'm Portuguese and we like to eat very fatty foods and it's hard to say no to my mom's cookin. Anyways I hope I can join your group because I know I can learn a lot from all you amazing ladies (and men if there are any here) and hopefully I can contribute as much as I can. |

| Fitness | To Gym? or not To Gym? THAT is the question....i need answers. | May 30 2008 16:59 (UTC) |

It depends if you are going to use the gym to the fullest, by taking advantage of the perks they are offering and going to the gym regularly. But I think it all comes down to you, if you know that you are not going to be going to the gym on a regular basis save your money. But if you know that you are going to go and take advantage of it then yeah it's worth every cent/pound. I just spend almost $900.00 (CDN) for a personal trainer for one month. I did it because I know I needed that extra push and getting to my goal weight is worth all the money in the world. |

Wow this is a really busy forum. I know one thing that helped a lot was drinking green tea. I hit a plateau about a month ago and I increased my workouts and decreased my calories and that didn't help. A friend then told me about green tea and how it helps speed up your metabolism. So I started drinking it, within a week I loss 4 lbs. So I guessed it help. Another tip I find that works it when you wake up in the morning have three cups of water right away and in an hour have your breakfast and your breakfast should be high in protein (I usually have egg whites with tomatoes). It will make you fill full until lunch (1:00 p.m. for me) On another topic has anyone tries Turbo Jam? What do you think about it? |

| Hi I have posted on this site a few times in the past but I come on it almost every day and read about people's success stories and so on and I have to say it really does motivate me.
Alibuch - I think that when people say that they lost 5 lbs or even 1 lbs it does motivate some people because in their head they think "hey if they can do it so can I". There is no reason for you to make rude comments to people especially when they are not directly asking you. Sometime last week you even wrote a rude comment to watchmeshine which was uncalled for. Ashley was not speaking to you so there was no need for you to comment the way you did. And the only reason why I am writing this comment is because I've always learned to stand up to bullies and that's what you are a bully. |

Original Post by hilwe85: Hi Hilwe, I work in the legal industry and there is a lot of discrimination about how much you weigh and what you look like in this field. It's actually very sad because sometimes you know that you would be perfect for a job but they won't even look at you because you are carrying an extra 60 lbs. My ultimate goal, career wise, is becoming a Justice of the Peace, the hardest part becoming one is you have to be appointed and you have to get your name out there. So as you can guess you are judged by what you look like and how you present yourself and unfortunately if you are over weight it's doesn't look good on you, especially if you are a female. <-- One of the many reasons why I am trying to lose weight. |

I figure if you are going to confess I should as well, I too am a smoker and I have my parents, sister, co-workers and friends on my back to quit. But I can't quit and try to lose weight at the same time. I rather conquer one thing at a time. So Allydan totally feel your pain, in some weird way smoking keeps me going. One of the reasons I go to the gym as often as I do is because I get out of my house and I can go for a smoke (I don't smoke at home). It also helps me get through a tough workout because I reward myself with a smoke. I know it's a bad habit but I need to get through this before I can even attempt to conquer that. |

watchme - don't give up!! I know you can do this, sometimes the scale will show you a number you don't want to see but that doesn't mean you haven't lost weight. You may have gained muscle mass and muscle weighs more than fat. Especially if you have taken dance classes, you have probably gained so much muscles in your legs. Think about it this way, if you were to give up right now and start it up again in the summer you probably be at the weight you are now or heavier in June or July. If you don't give up, by the summer you may have lost an additional 20 + lbs. and the journey to your final goal will be more attainable. Or even the fact that if you give up right now and start later you will have to go through all that struggle of starting again. Like a camp fire for example, lets say you distinguish the fire by throwing a bucket of water on it, to restart the fire it would take a lot of time and effort. But lets just say you let the fire burn out by itself and later on you want to restart it all you have to do is add another log in the fire pit (maybe some paper) and that's it. Don't give up!!! |

I'm Janice and I'm 27, I live in Mississauga, Ontario. Truthfully I LOVE the snow. Shoveling the snow is a great way to exercise and there is so many things you can do in/with the snow that is great way to lose some cals. I think it's the best feeling when your outside in the snow either shoveling or playing in it and your all cold and you come into your warm cozy house to a warm cup of coffee or tea. You guys must think I am a loser or something but I love the snow! |

Thanks watchme, that puts my mind to rest, I was freaking out this morning when I went on the scale and it indicated I have gained 2lbs. hilwe- I was so hungry since Thursday, all I wanted to do was eat. I didn't know why until Sunday when I got my period. Now I am trying to fill myself with water and/or green tea. I figure it will be easier to lose the water weight then stored fat. My weekend was boring, we had a big snow storm so I was stuck at home shoveling the driveway constantly. I must of went out to shovel three - four times in one day. It's good exercise though. |

How was everyone's weekend? Did anyone get to do anything exciting? Hey watchme, thanks for the tips you gave me last week regarding staying motivated and keeping my energy up it helped a lot. I know how you feel about the over eating when you are on your period, I am on mine right now and I was battling the cravings of eating a BIG bad of chips or getting a chocolate bar and munching on that. But I over came it, just a question for you and everyone else on this forum, what is average weight you are suppose to gain when you are on your period? I went on the scale this morning and I gain approximately 2 lbs since Friday, I was under 1700 cals on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. |

Hello Ladies, I hope everyone is doing great and is still keeping up with their weight lose goals. I have been crazy busy with work and family life. I have seem to have lost my "umff" to go to the gym. I'm always so tired, my day consist of me waking up at 7:00 a.m. taking a shower eating my breakfast, then by 8:00 my nurse comes to my house to bandage me up (I had 3 back operations since August, it's a long story) By 8:45 I am off to work. I get out of work about 7:30 - 8:00 (depends on how busy my day is) then I come home have dinner make my lunch for the next day and then I drag myself to the gym around 9:30 p.m. I usually get home around 11:30 and I go to bed to wake up to do the same routine all over again. I am just so tired. Does anyone out there have any good suggestions to keep my energy up? By the way what are everybody's plans for this weekend? |

Jsharshar- I don't think too much would happen if you were to eat 3000 calories for one day once a month. The most I think would happen is that you will gain between 2-4 lbs. I think it also depends what you were eating, lets just say you ate a combo #5 from McDonald's (I don't know what a combo 5 is but I am pretty sure it's not good for you) there is nothing nutritious in it, so it most likely will "run" through you, especially if you don't eat McDonald's on a regular basis it will be a shock to your system. Now if you were to eat 3000 cals. of nutritious foods ie. lean meats, vegetables, fruit, whole wheat pasta, most likely the energy from these foods will be stored in your system, especially if your body thinks you are starving yourself. By the way don't quote me on all of this I am not a doctor, I just play one on t.v. (jj) |

1. My parents, as they came to this country (Canada) not knowing a single word and only having $14.00 in their pockets and they have accomplished so much. 2. My job (I am a law clerk) - The field of law I work with is Family Law and I get to help so many people who are going through a difficult time. 3. My culture, I was born in Canada which is a great country to be in and my parents are Portuguese and I am so proud to say I am Canadian/Portuguese as there is so much history and culture that comes with that. Q - If there was one thing that you could go back in history and change what would it be? |
