I completely understand .I was an obsessed runner when I was in my early 20's and became a full on bulimic by the time a was 25. I am 37 now and still bulimic. 12 years of what you have described. I was dating a Dr. at the time my bulimia became out of control. He found out and persuaded me to tell my folks. I was a broke student at the time and couldn't afford therapy. My mom paid for a couple of counseling sessions and that was it. After a while it just seems like everyone forgot about it. I did not pursue treatment on my own and now I have this disease so ingrained inside of me that it is impossible to free myself. It defines who I am. I wish I would have done anything it took back when I was 25 to overcome it before I got this far. The longer you wait the harder it is to stop the cycle. I used to think that I could stop on my own. I would always say to myself, "next week I will stop". Before I could blink an eye it is 12 years later and I actualy do not remember what it was like to NOT be a bulimic. Please please get help. If no one forces you to seek thereapy please force yourself. I feel for you. I don't want you to end up here. I think about how much TIME of my life has been wasted because I have been so preoccupied with eating. 2 hours a day or more when I could be doing somthing else. I have declined going places or visiting family because all I can think about is when I can eat or binge again. And I hate myself for all the missed opportunities. Bulimia totaly sucks. Don't let it take you down. Nip it in the bud now. Take care & God Bless |

| Health & Support | are laxatives safe? | Mar 24 2008 20:54 (UTC) |

Laxatives do not help you lsoe weight. Once the food has hit your bowels the calories have already been absorbed. they don't do anything but keep you dehydrated. And they can make you dependant on them. |

Hi Deb, A new house is so exciting! Congrats on your new house too! Isn't moving very unfun though? It is on of the things that I like least in the world, but hey it burns calories. There was a birthday party at work and they had this HUGE chocolate chip cookie with all this frosting sandwiched in the middle and I think I ate about half of it. Its like the size of Jupitor. So I really blew it today. I was over my calorie limit by about 500 calories before noon:( Will have to force myself into a jog later. I think my goal right now is to be able to fit into my dress! Keep thinking maybe I shouldnt have bought it so early. But I quess it will be ok as it is somewhat adjustable. It's funny how a lot of people gain weight in an unhappy relationship. I was my heaviest when I was in a bad relationship. I just didn't feel like anything i did would make him happy so I fiqured , hey, why not be fat and eat what i want? Now I've git a keeper though, sounds like you have a great guy too.

| Motivation | Beer is my worst enemy | Mar 06 2008 21:13 (UTC) |

| Oh yeah, beer, I hear ya. It's my down fall too. I seem to always ruin my diet by adding a couple of beers. I try to restrict it to once or twice a week but when my fiance is home we like to sip a couple of cold ones while doing chores or what not around the house. When I log it in the next day I am always 300 or so calories over my goal. Sigh.... I wished I love exercise as much as Miller Lite. | |||
| Weight Loss | fattening banana argument LMAO?? | Feb 25 2008 20:44 (UTC) |

| The fruit thing kills me. I eat fruit every morning. Melon, pineapple , banana, apples , oranges, whatever I have handy. One day I brought a huge bowl of melon to work for breakfast and everyone had a cow. Could not believe I could eat that much for breakfast. LOL. A melon is mostly water and has like maybe 200 calories in the WHOLE thing. Anyway, everyone here is scared of carbs and keep telling me how fat I am going to get by eating so much fruit. By the way, they are into their low carb egg McMuffins and low carb bacon burritos. But OMG if someone eats a whole melon they are a pig! Now I have to endure all those lovely little remarks at office functions about how much I can put away. | |||

Hi! I am getting married April 19th. I am 36 , first marriage. No kids yet.I have 10 more pounds to lose. Stubborn pounds too. Congratulations on your marriage and your weight loss. I would say that if you have just started losing weight in Jan. then a 9 pound loss is great! I think it's best to lose weight more slowly than all at once, otherwise it comes back easier. I think for me the hardest part about the weight loss and the upcoming wedding is the stress. I get all stressed out about losing the weight before the wedding and that makes me want to eat. lol! I am an emotional eater. I haven't been able to keep my calorie goals lately. What keeps you motivated?
