The amount of judging in this thread boggles my mind. You don't want to be judged for your weight, so why are you judging a smaller person based on her weight?

Ok I don't get how women bigger than me wear a bikini and don't seem one bit self-conscious about it. So here are a few more reasons I've thought of, it being summer and swimsuit season, that may seem stupid but are there nonetheless!

OMG - I can't believe what some people wear!  I went to 6 Flags a couple of weeks ago and although I didn't even put my suit on we did spend a lot of time in the water park.  I was amazed at what I saw.  My husband (who is also 100+ pounds overweight) even commented on the things some people wear.  I was floored by some of the bathing suits these women had on.  It certainly made me feel less self-conscious, but there were women in bikinis that had no right to be.  I saw a women at the Y the other day in a bikini, she had to be a size 20+, granted she was evenly purportioned so she didn't look that bad but still I didn't know they made bikins that big.

I don't mean to be judgemental, I am happy for them that they are confident enough to wear what they want without worrying about what other people think.  I guess it all boils down to self image, some people can be rail thin and think they are fat and vice versa.

YES!! I thought it was just me!! I don't think that's being judemental OR mean....it just amazes me that a 300lb woman can wear a BIKINI and she's not tugging on the back, or adjusting her top, or covering herself with one arm, or doing any of the things that I would do while wearing a swim suit at my weight(160s)!!!
How do they get so confident?? I wish I could absorb some of that into me. Looking at them doesn't make me feel any less self-conscious.
It just goes to show how screwed up our body images really are!

Okay, these woman who are confident enough to wear bikinis, it's not because they have a body-image in their head that they are thin. They know that they are fat, but that's not automatically negative! You can be perfectly aware of what you weigh and still be happy with your body.

My reason for losing weight is pretty common, I want to be thin for my wedding. I am somewhat uncommon in that I don't want to return to my "high school weight". I'm twenty-one, and I was my high school weight when I started this! I've never been thin before, and I'd like to know what it feels like.

As I recall the bill enabled doctors to withhold birth control prescriptions, birth control INFORMATION, as well as the morning after pill, abortion etc.

In fact, I don't think the bill specified what activities were covered under morals.

If you're working as a doctor you should be doing your job. If you're working as a pharmacist you should be providing the morning after pill regardless of your own morals.

So I ask, "do you drink orange juice, do you eat fruits and vegetables with Vitamin C?"

My orange juice has added Vitamin C, doesn't that count as a supplement?

That's awesome! Yay you!! How exciting. I can't wait to fit into 14s.

I recently bought size 16s, which was pretty exciting too, since it wasn't that long ago I was wearing 24s or 26s. I am not tooo excited though, because they are very stretchy jeans and probably vanity-sized as well....I will only "count it" when I fit into non-stretchy fabric in that size. But it is an amazing feeling looking at that little number 16, and holding them up to see that they look like normal sized jeans! I was aways so embarassed by how huge my jeans looked, even just to myself when folding laundry, so it's a really exciting thing to feel more "normal".

I know what you mean! I got into a pair of 12s today (I won't say they "fit") but they were very stretchy.

Thanks everyone!

Haha, that's weird, unless it's using your "trend" weight, and not your entered weight to calculate the amount lost.

On "My Account" page it uses my entered weights though.

Swimming is a great way to exercise! I just recently started going to the pool. It's great because no one really CAN look at you - your body is underwater! I feel a lot more comfortable in the pool then I would on a tredmill. My boyfriend is a much better swimmer than I am, but he's teaching me how to swim "properly."

Good luck with your lessons!

Holy crap, I've been gone since Christmas. I totally failed over Christmas and then have spent the last couple months trying to get those pounds off. I've been so busy with school (I'm taking an extra class than I normally do)!

I've been about 186-185 the last couple weeks, and then suddenly I was 184, 183, now 182. Like, I'm losing a pound a day. And trust me, I'm not eating that few calories - I ate out last night - burger and fries - and I was down .9 lbs this morning. Not that I don't like it, but I'm confused!

I don't know what to make of it. It's almost that time of the month, maybe I'm a freak and my weight fluctuates DOWN before my period unlike everyone else who fluctuates UP. Haha. Anyone have any ideas?

btw, It's -5C here too, and it's beautiful out!

Try figuring out the source of your binge. Did you binge before you began dieting for example, or have you always been a yo-yo dieter? It might be what lynnlette said, that you're not eating enough calories or enough protein etc and you're body's trying to get it.

I think just starting with tomorrow is a good veiwpoint as long as you don't give yourself permission to binge the day after tomorrow. Tomorrow night tell yourself again that you can make it through the next day.

Good luck!

I don't really have a deadline, but I do want to feel comfortable in a swimsuit and cute summer clothes this summer. (The part of my body I hate most is my upper arms which makes sleeveless clothes suck).

I'm planning a cheat day for Friday night (I'll be done exams and my fiance will be done his term at a job) so we're having a "party" just for us. (Ordering pizza, drinking, watching as many Star Trek movies as we can get through, lol) Somehow knowing I have a big cheat coming up has helped me stay within my calories the last couple days. Does anyone else find that cheat days (maybe not this huge) help?

Congrats on the 30 lbs loss!

Chocolate is my biggest downfall. Really. Sometimes I find it helps to drink water, chew gum, or eat something like a piece of fruit (if I'm actually hungry).

Good luck!

So I've kind of fallen of the wagon this week with exams, but I'm back on track today!

I went to visit my step-brother on Sunday and he noticed how much weight I've lost. I'm so pround that other people can actually see the 15 pound difference. My pants have noticed, that's for sure. The pair I'm wearing doesn't have belt loops and they are way too loose. Very awesome, as long as they don't fall down.

I've been "running" in place with my wiiFit. I'm embarrassed to run outside or at the gym, lol. The boyfriend and I are talking about joining the Running Room's running clinics in the spring when it's not so cold outside(hate that) and we're a little lighter/more confident.

"However, because some hunter-gatherer societies obtained
most of their dietary energy from wild animal fat and protein
does not imply that this is the ideal diet for modern humans,
nor does it imply that modern humans have genetic adaptations
to such diets. It does, however, indicate that humans can thrive
on extreme diets as long as these diets contribute the full range
of essential nutrients. "

I'd been maintaining for a number of years, so I figured if I could maintian how hard could it be to finally lose?

"What are your holiday tactics going to be, in all things health related?"

Go for lots of walks. I'll be in three different places over my Christmas break, so it's going to be hard to get into a routine, and a lot of times I won't have control over the food served, just my portion. But I'll have my boyfriend with me so we're agreed we're going to go for walks - which will be especially easy because there's dogs at 2/3 places.

Food wise, I'm going to enjoy myself, and I probably won't count calories, but I'm going to skip on the second - and third - piece of pie. I've already asked my mother not to buy chocolate as gifts for me. I'm going to focus on trying to maintain my weight. If I could be the same weight after the break as I am before Christmas that would be perfect.

I don't mind letting loose once in a while, but I'm not going to let this break turn into a three week cheat. :)

These are great tips!

For myself, I'm going to try to get into a new routine for about 3 weeks, as I'm in university and will be traveling to my fiance's home and then my own home over the break. Our plan is to spend a lot of times with our respective dogs going for walks. heehee Hopefully it'll help having my fiance on board to keep me accountable.

Does the Wii Fit still have to be in front of the tv in order to weigh you? Our entire living room is carpet, but our kitchen is tile. Unfortunately, there is no way to see the television from the kitchen, and the scale is probably the biggest thing I'm going for here.

The wii fit board comes with little feet that put it above the carpet (if it's not too thick of a carpet)

If the kitchen isn't too far from the living room it should work, but it might be annoying as you'll have to run back and forth to the board.

I like Iorik's suggestions and think that they fit with the OP's questions quite well. Besides, albisam, you can add your own suggestions without attacking someone else's.

I'm a bit of a fashion disaster myself, but one of the best things I ever did (IMO) was to switch from wearing jeans everyday to other pants. All my pants are still comfortable, and they don't have to be dress pants. The same top can look dramatically different paired with something other than denim.

How do you know the chicken isn't healthier? Number of calories has nothing to do with how healthy something is.

It does when you're trying to lose weight.

I love wiifit.

The balance games are fun, but I love the yoga, strength and cardio exercises. I'm too embarrassed/lazy/not ready to go to a real gym and I don't have room here for exercise equipment.

I totally reccomend it is what I'm saying!
