Hope your son is feeling better, Alicia.  My son had the flu this weekend so our plans were squashed too. Least I didn't overeat at BBQ's!  Its funny to see peoples reactions when you say he had the flu....its such a taboo word here in NY these days. He's fine now - recovered in 3 days and didn't "oink" once. lol

The scale still hasn't moved but I can say I think I'm finally back in a real focused mode.  I had signed up to participate in an "extreme frisbee" competition at my kids school (parents vs teachers) and couldn't believe how unfit I've become.  It got me motivated to get moving again.  I went bike riding for a while with my daughter, played a lot of ball and found a nice place to walk at lunch time.    Its only been a few days and I feel like a broken record but I think I'm back in the mode.

I don't think I'll see much of a change tomorrow when I weigh-in but definitely expect to see something next week.  thats the plan anyway!!

Hope you all are having a good week!

Hi all..sorry I haven't checked in lately. I was hoping that if I waited long enough the scale would move in the right direction.  I've never seen such a rollercoaster of numbers.  Its quite upsetting to say the least.  This morning was the first time I saw a number under 180 in over a week. It was 179.5 but I'll take it - even though its up a pound from my last "official weigh in"

I haven't been eating all that bad but I'm not getting any exercise at all lately and i have to change that.  I haven't been feeling all that great lately so I know that has something to do with it.  This time last year I was out playing with my kids all the time...now they'd rather play with their friends.  :-(

I hope to get going this week. I don't like what I'm seeing so far!

Hope everyone has a good week!

You just did, Felicia. Welcome to the group!  We usually weigh in on Fridays.

I had a crazy week last week so I didn't get a chance.  Not that it mattered anyway - no loss, but no gain.  I ate good for the most part all week, but really got no exercise.  I'm hoping to continue keeping my snacking in check this week and get on the treadmill. Should see some difference then.

Happy Friday everyone!  Really looking forward to the nice weather we are supposed to have this weekend. Planning on hitting the beach on Sunday...woo hoo!  Very strange weather this spring!

I started logging my food again this week and its funy how I struggle to stay within my calorie level when it a year ago it wasn't a problem.  I guess I got more off track then I thought.  I exercised a couple of times but not as much as I would have liked.  Either way it all paid off, I saw a drop for the first time in a loooong time!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Friday.  I really work hard this week on controlling my snacking and did pretty good. I brought fruit with me to work and a pack of gum.  I would take a piece of gum when I got into the "need a snack" mode when I knew I couldn't possibly be hungry.  Learned that one on the "Biggest Loser" and have to say it worked.

The scale was all over the place this week but as of today nothing lost.  I would have liked to seen even .5. Funny how frustrated I would get last year when I would only lose .5 now it would make my day!

Sandy I know what you mean about watching the little ones play baseball. I love it. Both my kids play and I make sure I never miss a game.  I remember the first year my son played (5 yrs old) he was playing 1st base and a little girl hit the ball and when she ran to first base she stopped and kissed my son and then continued on.   I was crying I was laughing so hard. My son just cried.  He  is now 7 so he moves up a level and only plays with boys so he' s in no danger this year. He thinks he's Derek Jeter when hes on the field.  My daughter (9) loves softball too and her games are just going from cute to really exciting now.  I wish I had time to still play on  a team.  I always enjoyed it.

I'm going out tonight for a "Facebook" reunion with old High School friends so I know I'm going to have a drink or two.  I bailed on going out to dinner first so I could hopefully stay somewhat within my calorie range.

Hope you all have a great weekend

I bought the JM game too because it looked good.  Luckily I told a couple of people before I opened it and they told me how awful it was, I returned it.  They both had all the complaints that you all do.  Its a shame that she would let them release such a piece of crap with her name on it.

Hi all ....well Day 2 and I'm still here...lol    I had a good day yesterday - no exercise but did control my snacking (by forcing myself to bed!).  I definitely snacked a bit today (dam Jelly Beans) so I'm getting ready to get on the treadmill.  I'm hoping it will be nice out tomorrow so  I can get out for a bike ride with the kids or something.

Love the new bike, Terry.  Its really nice.  I love riding but you can't go too far around here unless you drive to a path. I'm hoping to find some new ones this spring/summer.

I agree Sandy that exercise is a great stress reducer. It really does work for me. I just really fell into a slump the past 6 months that I just couldn't get motivated.  Stress has been my middle name but I have to REALLY accept that I can't control what is going on at work and just live my life.  It definitely affecting my health and nothing is worth that.

So, off I go to the treadmill!  Hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the holiday!

Hi...me again!  I know I popped up a couple of months ago with my new found pledge to get back on track  - well, that lasted about a day lol.   I'm now hitting numbers on my scale that I swore I'd never see again. I'm up 7.5lbs from my low of 172.5.  My pants are getting tight and I hate the way I feel.

Life is still very hectic. Still living in limbo wondering if I'm going to have a job next week.  I feel a little more comfortable lately but you never know.  My commute is still horrible (2 hours each way) but since I work from home 2 days a week its not so bad (especially if I can work in the city one day).  I'm just too tired to get on the treadmill at night after those days but I have to make a point of it to get on it the days I work from home and the weekends.  If I just did that and watched what I eat I know I'd be going in the right direction again.

So I know exactly what I have to do but now its time to do it.  I'm going to start logging my food again and focus on myself and not worry about all the "what ifs".  Did I mention how happy I am that you are all still here?

Hello!  Glad to see you guys are still here!  I kind of fell into a funk there for a while and just lost steam.  I think I'm ready to get going again and finally reach my first goal (165) - which I was only about 5lbs away from at one point. I'm now 7.5lbs away.  I was up to about 175 and that was enough to shock me back into action.  I really don't want to put back on all the weight.

I started my horror commute to Jersey City two weeks ago (2 hrs each way - on a good night) and am still feeling pretty sorry for myself.  However, after all the people that are losing their jobs here in the financial industry, I know I shouldn't complain.   I had to quit my gym membership in the city since I wouldn't be able to get there anymore and now rejoined the one by my house.  With my families crazy schedule, I'll be happy to make it there 3-4x a week and use the treadmill at home in between.

Enough of my whining - time to get busy.  I'm hoping to lose the 2.5lbs by the end of the month and be right on track for 2009!

Late again!   Things are still hectic .  I'm happy that I'm holding steady on my weight given that I haven't exercised and I'm not eating the way I should.  I do feel it in my body though. I have minor problems with heart palpitations/irregular heartbeat and that is starting to get worse again.  I have an appt next week to get it looked at.

After all these years, I'm finally seeing how the correlation between eating well and feeling good. I know I feel like crap because thats what I'm putting into my  body.   The good news is that it is driving me to get back into getting back on track

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

HI all...I'm still here just still very busy and stressed.  I think last week was the worse. I still have a job, so that is a good thing!  I've been eating horribly and been suffering with my IBS bad (which is probably due to my diet) however, despite all this I am still 171.  No change, but with Halloween around the corner i'm a bit nervous.  I have NO self control when that candy is in the house.

Anyway, hope everyone is well.  Hopefully I will have a better week this week/

Hi all - sorry for the late weigh in.  things are still very hectic.  My weight has fluctuated all over the place in the last week from a low of 169.5 to 173 now I've seemed to level off at 171.  Its a slight gain, but not too unexpected.  Between the stress at work and being a bit under the weather, I haven't been eating very good and find myself snacking again.  I've got to get it together!

Hi all.  I'm still around but haven't had much time lately to even log my food.  I havent' really gotten back into exercising since I got back from vacation in August.  I work in the financial industry so needless to say - times are hectic and stressful.  Not an easy time at all.

I am proud to say though, despite my crazy schedule with the kids school and extracurricular activities, I am still maintaining and not putting back on any of the weight.  If anything, I'm still losing just very very slowly.  I was hoping to be out of the 170's by the end of September and I dare say I may have done it.  I weighed in today at 169.5. I'm not willing to accept it as a true weight until I hold it for two more days. (my own little game with myself).

I'm supposed to go rollerskating with a bunch of adults tomorrow night. I used to love to rollerskating. Now I'm just looking forward to the night out and a little excercise. Its been a LONG time since I've been out.

Hope you are all doing well.

Hi all.  I'm so glad its Friday - another stressful week under the belt.  Its supposed to rain here all weekend and I'm happy about it.  It would be nice to have some time to stay home and get things done in the house. I haven't had a second to exercise but I am happy that despite the fact that I have barely exercised since I got back from vacaion in August, I have been able to maintain my weight.  It would have been nice to be out of the 170's like I had hoped by the end of Sept, but I am still proud of myself for not letting the stress and craziness of my life send me back up.  Hopefully things will calm down in Oct.  I WILL be under 170 by Halloween!!!!!

Hope you all have a great weekend,

Funny, I had just talked to my dr this month about always feeling tired.  We did blood work and everything came back fine - just slightly anemic. (which I usually am)  I know that is part of my problem and the other is I don't sleep good.  I'm sure between the two and my hectic life style that is the reason for me to be so tired.  I do feel better when I exercise - but lately no time for that!  I'm hoping next week to at least get to the gym at lunch time.  Hopefully things will be settling down at work!

Hi all.   I haven't been able to check-in in a while.  September just throws off my whole life!  Its great that the kids are back in school, but between their sports practices and games (football, softball & Basketball) there is very little time for me!  In some ways I don't mind, because I really enjoy watching them play sports.  Its trying to do that and keep up the homework and school stuff.  The amount of paperwork that comes home from the school sometimes....fundraisers,  $ for this, and $ for that.  I need a private secretary to keep it all straight!

Anyway, I resigned to the fact that I won't be able to exercise as much and just hope to maintain or lose slowly.  If I can do that for the  next couple of months, I'll be happy.  I just don't want to climb back up.

I didn't get to read through all the posts, but I hope you are all doing well.  Welcome to the new people!

I think that the fact you are so aware of your issues with food, your daughter will be fine.

My daughter had her yearly check up last week.  I couldn't go but her dad took her and I knew her dr was not going to be happy with her weight - and she wasn't.  She actually told my daughter and husband, that if she continues the way she is she will be obese.  Parts of me thought it was a bit tough and other parts of me are glad that both my daughter and husband heard it from the dr.  Because when I say it, it doesn't mean much.  My daughter and I have been having good conversations about portion control, snacking and health in general over the past few weeks  and she does seem ready to take control of her weight.

It breaks my heart to hear her say "I'm Fat".  I tell her she's not - just a little chubby in the belly but not to use the "F" word.  I think I'm saying and doing all the right things.  We already see a little difference in her face.  The last thing we want is for her to get an eating disorder.

Sorry I haven't been around.  I can't seem to find a minute for myself. Since school started and the sports have started up, my exercise time has gone down the drain. I'm happy that I'm maintaining, if I can maintainfor the next few weeks when things calm down I'll be happy.

I was going to try to get out to the gym today at lunch, but since I work in the financial industry...I figure its not a good time to be away from the desk!

I know this is a very old post but I really thought its important to bring back up. My daughter is overweight and I'm walking that fine line of trying to help her make better choices and not killing her self esteem.   I used to be really confused on why she is overweight because she has always been active and I thought ate really well.  However, now that I've been very focused on everything she eats, I'm starting to realize that she does eat too much.  I don't keep junk food in the house for the most part but she will find anything that is around.  Even with fruit - instead of taking 1 or 2 pieces she will down 4 peaches in a half hour.

I have spoken with her because she is starting to ask why her belly is so big (She is 9).  I have lost 20lbs since the beginning of the year and I've explained to her its all because of making better choices, realizing what a portion size is and exercising.  These are just some of the things I'm trying.

I dont' want to bring on an ED or kill her self esteem, but I do want her to be healthy.  Is anyone else struggling with this?

Happy Tuesday.  I was so good (for a change!) this weekend and I feel so good for it. I ate really well and spend most of the holiday weekend bike riding with the kids.  I finally feel I'm on track again. I weighed in at 171 the last two days - which is an all time low for me.   I think the 160's are in my reach - I just have to keep focused!

Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend!

Hi all.  I'm still here.  I was definitely struggling a bit this week - not logging food and feeling a bit unmotivated. However I did get out for a few bike rides later this week and are feeling better than I was.  My tooth issues are over and that has given me back more energy.

My weight is back to 172.5 which is basicall back to where I was before I went on vacation July 22!  Its been a roller coaster since then.

I'm getting ready now to go out for a ride now AND I have complete faith the I will finally break through the wall and get into the 160's by the end of September.

I know this is what you want too, Momof 2.   Lets make it our #1 goal this month!

Hope you all have a good weekend!

thanks for the note Jen....Trust me! I know I could have ate alot of more healthy things....but as usual I was feeling very sorry for myself and ate whatever.  Its such a bad attitude to take because I'm only hurting myself.

I went for a bike ride last night and plan on getting back out tonight.  Its hopefully the beginning of me getting back in a good schedule!  I'm tired this week and I'm sure a lot has to do with not really exercising lately.  I'm in a

so as expected my 170.5 was very short lived.  I knew it when I saw it but we can all dream?  That happens to me every few weeks or so and I never realized it until this month that it is the day or so before TTOM.  So the combination of the timing and the lack of eating because of my teeth the scale had dropped.

I wound up with another root canal Monday night.  I finally feel like a new person.  I know it was really only over a week of feeling horrible but it felt longer.  I didn't eat much but whatever I did eat was bad and I spent a lot of time in bed.  I'm now 174 - which is 1.5 lbs more than when I started (excluding that delusional 170 moment).

I have lost lots of motivation since I got back from vacation and then this tooth pain.  I went for a bike ride last night and plan on going for another today.  I hope that this is the start of me getting back on the ball!  I'm tired today - and I'm sure this new found fatigue is due to lack of exercise.

I'm hoping to get back on the wagon this week starting with a bike ride tonight.  Now that I should start feeling better I have no more excuses.  I need to get into the 160's by the end of Sept - that is my new goal!
