Hey, I'm a Brit living in Spain, do I count?  Been on here for nearly a month and love the site.  I log calories and exercise (v. little exercise!!!).  Also keep a journal which everyone can read if they are that bored!  Managed to loose 12lb so far!  Hey only another 100 or so to go!  Anyone looking for friends feel free to add me!

Skinnyguy you are soooooooooooooo right!!!  I've never eaten much, so how did I get to 260lb?  By eating completely the wrong foods, ie no breakfast, family size bag of chips for lunch(some bags are over 1,000 cals!!!!), and take away foods for dinner!!  Ohh and the odd tub of ice cream!

Now I eat healthy, and gosh there does nt seem to be many calories in all that healthy food, but I;m full up and it seems daft to make myself overeat just to reach my calorie count!  You are so right about it having to feel right, but I guess as my knowledge of lower cal foods grows and I widen the range of foods I eat, I'll manage to increase my cal count too!  As for going to McD's and having something small forget it!  I dont have the willpower for that or for "a couple of squares of chocolate" its all or nothing!!

Thanks for all your advice.  I guess i need to rethink things.  Reality is I often have 600 or 800 calorie days and eat more over the weekend but not 3,500 calories.  Guess I'm a classic case of "diet = starvation" and am having a hard time convincing myself that I need to eat more to loose more!

Great, by your definition I'm an hour glass!  52-42-52  -  Biggest hour glass i ever saw! LOL

But seriously, being this shape means I carry my extra pounds quite well!  Not many people would guess I'm 116lb over weight!

Hey, keep going!  Want to see your weight loss?  Then go to the kitchen and measure out 2.5 kg of potatoes (or something similar).  Its amazing when you see how much that is (just imagine its come off your legs/tummy/arms whatever).  Now imagine putting that in your bag and carrying it around with you!  See you've achieved loads already, keep going!  Always works for me when I feel like giving up!

OK you might think I'm crazy BUT go to the kitchen and weight out 9lbs of food eg potatoes, onions or something similar.  Take a good look at it - you were carrying that around with you just a few weeks ago - really want to put it back on?

Weigh out another 2lbs - you could loose that this week!!!

Just came across this thread and it kinda touches on one of my worries!  I met my boyfriend 6 months ago, and he has done tonnes to improve my confidence!  He tells me everyday he loves me and loves my body ... he weighs about 154 lbs and I'm 254 lbs.  Thing is, following a few rough years with lots of excuses for "emotional eating" I am now absolutely determined to loose weight ... Under 200lb as a start but eventually would like to get to 168 lb or maybe even 154.  I know I can do it (done it twice before!).  Thing is I have this little nagging voice at teh back of my head - what will he really think if I loose all that weight?  Anyone in a similar position or got any thoughts on it?

When I'm tempted to eat something not planned - I tell myself "if you are hungry then go eat an apple".  I like apples but they aint chocolate!! 

Works though - as it makes me think about why I want to eat - if it was hunger i'd be happy with the apple !!   -This really helps control my "emotional" eating.

Hi, just joined the site and I love it.  I'm at 261 lb and initially would like to get to 168lb but "officially should be around 136lb so guess i qualify as needing to loose 100+ !   Love hearing all your motivational success stories some people are doing really well.  I'm from the UK but live in Spain and am happy for anyone to add me as a friend :)

Nope - not eating anything from it as there is nothing there I really want ie no chocolate!  I'm now telling myself if I dont want to eat fruit then I cant be hungry!

Hi moocat (love the name), your post made me quite sad :( 

I'd like to share something with you ......  I'm 5ft 5inches and weigh 260 lbs .....  not thin or pretty by "societies" standards ....... however ........ I believe the majority of people are'nt attracted to others because they are thin or pretty - they are attracted to the inside (an old cliche I know) but its true.

I am happy with myself which makes me confident and outgoing and this more than anything attracts other people to you.  I've never been without friends or boyfriends.  Smile and most people will smile back.  Laugh and most people will laugh with you.  Happiness and a positive attitude attracts others not a thin body and a pretty face :)     Take care
