wrm2105 good luck on your marathon. Which one is it? I just did the Big Sur marathon and it's a very beautiful one.

Just a note for any of you that run on the roads while you are out of town on business....

One of my old Navy buddies was hit by a drunk driver and killed a few years ago when he was out training on a business trip. He didn't have any ID on him, and it took the local police 3 days to identify him, which caused his wife a lot of anguish as you might guess. In his memory, she has taken up promoting the use of Road ID bracelets--so I share this with you to help honor her cause. Remember to take some ID with you when you run....you never know what might happen.

Yet another sad story. I never go out on any training runs without my road ID. I've got mine from roadid.com (NFI) and those 20 bucks might just safe your life one day.

I imagined that planning was important, but I didn't realize how crucial it was until reading your report.

Thanks wrm2105. It does depend also of the runner too. Some are strong runners so they just go and do their thing. For slow folks, like me, I better make sure that I'm on target with my progress and time so I won't miss the cut-off times. For me it's for the peace of mind, you know.

Haven't ran since then; almost 2 weeks. Tonight's the night. Gotta get my lazy butt off the couch LOL.

ultrarunner, I...I...just don't know what to say.  I always thought that during the heavy long distance races you actually had an obligatory sleep period.

skinny_kitty, thanks for writing. I believe that some runners actually do take naps during this kind of events. I myself never do because I'm just a slow back-packer and I'm affraid that I'll sleep too long and missing any cut-off times Smile. However, once the event is over then I can sleep Tongue out.

Thanks wrm2105 and jfk61.

Coyote2Moon was wild and stripped me to the bone like no race before. It took me 2 nights and 1 day, 37 hours and 47 minutes, to cover the 100 miles and 56'000+ feet elevation change.

I've put up some pictures and wrote some captions but I'm not really done with it yet. If you want check it out here but remember, it's a work in progress. I also will write a race report this week.

wrm2105: braver than you? I don't think so. My wife definitely does not think so LMAO.

Anyhow, check out your daily mileages. They are off the hook! I wish I could put in such daily mileages. It's very impressive!

ultrarunner2: How is your recovery from the LA Marathon going, and how do you plan to transition to your next race?

Hey!

Thanks for asking. No recovery for me. I ran it so slow that I never got any pain or issues whatsoever. In fact, a week later I ran the Way Too Cool 50K very slow again so no pain on that one either.

I run slow because next weekend I have a 100 mile race coming up. After that one you can ask how my recovery is coming along. I might be in too much pain to reply LOL

Hey skinny_kitty! It's just something addictive to push your own body and mind to keep running for a long time. The longest I've gone is 28 hours and 55 minutes but I might break that by the end of March.

Anyhow, it's totally awesome that you are doing triathlons. The other day I watched the Ironman Hawaii documentary and it inspired me to branch out, get into swimming and biking and try to qualify for an ironman.

It sure will be interesting how that will go. Cool I might bug you for tips and tricks completing a triathlon.

Thanks for all the welcomes! I've chosen ultrarunner2 as my username because I just love to do races over 26 miles.

Unfortunately, I work 12 hours a day so my training runs durning the week aren't as great as they should be; however, on the weekends I usually go longer. Because of that I just going to submit my milages on a weekly basis.

It's awesome being with this group.

Very cool. Thanks wrm2105. I want to join and I'll be logging my miles until next Wednesday so I can give you a weekly number.

This is exciting!

If I join this club should I submit my running hours since August 1, 2007, 12:00 midnight? Or simply starting from the moment I join?

I apologize if this already has been asked...

I'm not a teen anymore by any means (I'm 36) but I started running in April 05 after being inactive whatsoever for 20+ years. I instantly fell in love with outdoor running and within 1.5 months ran my first half-marathon and about 2 months later my first marathon.

Since then I've ran 14 marathons, seven 31 miles, two 50 mile, two 62 miles, and one 100 mile race (see here). I'm very slow too. My marathon PR is 4:22. My favorite runs are 100 milers.

Keep on running freywey. It's an awesome way to keep in shape and make great friends along the way.
