Based on your height and weight you DO NOT need to lose weight and you definitely need to be eating more. According to the calorie calculators you need to be eating over 2700, especially if you're working out. If you continue under-eating your body will just waste away or go into starvation, so you're not doing yourself any good on the muscle building front. Even if you don't want to gain weight, you could check out the weight gain or the fitness threads for sample meal plans. Those are higher calorie and very healthy and well balanced. |

Thanks! it doesnt take much work or skill at all. Just a blender! I'm lactose intolerant so I've begun experimenting with different nut "cheeses" and cream sauces made with nuts too. Another good way to use avocados is in fruit smoothies, or in chocolate pudding! *http://www.thedailyrawcafe.com/2007/09/chocol ate-pudding.html It's really really good, and a dessert you can actually feel really healthy about eating :) |

This will double your healthy fats- I use it as a mushroom filling. I make a portobello burger by grinding up almonds into a course powder (can use blender, coffee grinder, proccessor) and mash in about 1/2 an avocado or more if you like with some lemon juice, salt pepper or whatever spices you want. Then stuff a portobello mushroom cap with it and roast it in the oven. You can brush the mushroom with olive oil too. Then I put the whole thing on a hamburger bun with whatever usual burger toppings you like. It is OMFG AMAZING!!!!!! |

woohoo!!! thank you for posting this!!! Those posts drive me crazy and are part of the reason I've stopped posting on this site as often as I used to. There's only so much I can say before I'm just frustrated that no one listens. I especially hate the ones where girls want to compare their clothing sizes or measurements or weights. They are usually very unhealthy weights that just make everyone else feel inadequate or not thin enough/ pretty enough, etc, when that's not true at all. The important thing is being a healthy weight and having a healthy body image. The number does not reflect who you are or what you are capable of and should not determine your self worth. In fact I wrote in to a fitness website just today because I went to an article about finding fun ways to exercise and the cover model was skin and bones- clearly not "fit" and not a good representation for an article on exercise when I doubt she has the energy or strength to do much more than pose for the camera, not to mention a host of other problems. It was just wrong when women and girls are looking to this article to become healthier and might think that this skeleton is "healthy". Funny how these life experiences have turned us all into advocates! |

| Health & Support | food log, hypothyroid and weight gain...i am confused and would love advice! | May 01 2009 02:34 (UTC) |
3 |
Hey Bobby- I don't think I can add anything new since the above posters were really thourough but I did want to just reiterate what was already said because I went through/ still suffer from the same thing. I was also diagnosed hypothyroid, as a result of a restricted calorie intake. Around your levels actually, between 900- 1400 for several months, with exercise, which is obviously not enough for anyone. If you have read any of the stickied topics, you'd see you need 1200 to simply survive if you laid around in bed all day. So your body pretty much is in that "starvation mode" people talk about. Not eating enough only makes the thyroid condition worse too. I've been on on .5 mg of armour thyroid for over a year and haven't noticed too much of a difference, though my energy levels did become more normal (i'm still a little lacking in that department but would rather try and improve that through higher calorie intake and better health) Eating more will help regulate your thyroid even without the medication, though of course you should continue to monitor that with your doctor. I have gained a lot of weight but very slowly since I started, but it was intentional so I don't think the medication had anything to do with it since it was so difficult to put the weight on. Trust us when we tell you to increase your calories! you need at least 2000 and probably more if you're active, especially since you are borderline underweight, it will most likely greatly increase your health if you gain a few more pounds. I know how stressful that can be, but it makes a world of a difference to eat more, and you won't balloon up by increasing your calories. I currently eat b/w 2500 and 3000, and am aiming for the higher end of that since I lost a few lbs again on 2500. There was one point that it took me over 4000 to gain weight very slowly too. So my advice would be to start working your way to 2000 and see how your body responds. Good luck! |

| Weight Gain | Yoga for weightgain? | Apr 19 2009 23:10 (UTC) |
|
Hey! I'm a huge fan of yoga! Its really the only exercise I've done while gaining and has been really beneficial. I've had back problems before and there are special yoga sets that work for that, as well as yoga for digestion, which really helps when trying to cram in all that food. Stick to really gentle slow yoga though because yoga is a lot more exercise than its given credit for. You might not feel like you're "working out" the way you would with jogging or aerobics but you really can burn just as many calories or more without noticing. I focus more on the meditative and breathing related ones, especially since I think ED's are very much (at least for me) anxiety driven, this really relaxes me, makes me feel better about what my body can do, makes me focus and breathe more efficiently and generally de-stresses me. Sometimes I'll just do 10 minutes in the morning and that's all I need to have a better outlook for the day. And 10-20 minutes definitely won't hurt your gaining goals. It's basically my free therapy :) I have a ton of online resources for free videos if you want, just message me and I'll send them to you. |

| Health & Support | started spin--bmi 17.2--eating back calories...ok? | Apr 03 2009 23:11 (UTC) |
|
Ok here's my experience too. Don't do it :\ I know it sucks, I love biking too, especially when its a nice day out. But when I started recovering, I didn't gain an ounce until I stopped all activity, and I mean ALL, like even walking around classes would cause my weight to drop dramatically when it didn't seem like I could have possibly burned that many calories. And even then I had to push past 4000 calories for a good while to jumpstart the weight gain. Our bodies at your weight and stage in recovery don't really follow normal body logic. It's not really calories in vs calories out because there's not telling what it expends and what it holds on to. I think exercise just freaks it out and it burns calories like crazy even when it shouldn't because anytime I'd try the slightest bit of exercise, even biking 15 minutes to the grocery store once or twice a week, I'd find I was down like 3 lbs the following week. Even now that I'm *almost* healthy as far as weight I still have to be really careful because I seem to burn more than you'd expect. I got more into yoga these past few weeks, and by "into" I mean I've attended 1 class a week for three weeks and the rest of the time I work on a computer, and am still eating b/w 2600 and 2800 a day, but earlier this week I found I had lost 2 lbs. Based on your recent journal entry, I think this has also happened to you so be very very careful with your activitiy levels until you're into the 18 bmi range and get the OK from your doctor, and definitely no formal exercise and intense cardio such as a spin class. Gosh, even I'd stay away from spin classes still!!! those are serious calorie burners no matter how you try and get around it. |

Just listen to your body and go with the flow. I have two younger brothers so I know from experience that teenage boys are bottomless pits. You are most definitely still growing and need all the calories you can get, especially since you're active. You're already quite tall, which is awesome btw, but that's not to say you won't get taller and you still need to fill out and build up that grown man strength and everything that comes with it. Be sure you're getting enough fats and proteins and you probably need to be eating much more than 2500 a day. My brothers are 20 and 16 now and I can tell you the 16 year old who I see more often eats like a horse, constantly and copious amounts. He has generally healthy taste but hell definitely still use things like butter and cheese liberally, eats breakfast, snacks, packs like a foot long sandwich with tons of snacks for school, comes home and eats like 2 frozen meals and ice cream, then eats more dinner than any of us, then eats dessert. I wouldn't be surprised to find he gets 5000 calories a day. The older one, we joke that he's the garbage disposal, he'll go out to eat with us, eat his big steak or burger and all his sides, then go on to eat what everyone else leaves. I also remember when he was still living at home (and started on a whole body building kick) he'd come home from school and pan fry 3 or 4 steaks and top them with fried eggs....yeah, not that appealing to me lol, but that's what he likes. so bottom line, your 17 year old male body can handle a lot of food, just keep it somewhat balanced and enjoy it! |

Hey everyone, I know these aren't original, but I was just looking to find some pb and co coupons on the website and started looking through their recipes and was struck by how decadently yummy sounding and high calorie all of these probably are. Plus I know how much everyone here loves PB!! Check them out- http://www.pbloco.com/concoctions.asp
I'm sure you don't have to use their pb flavors either, any regular nut butter will do. I want to try the baked french toast and mousse! |

http://caloriecount.about.com/support-recipes -ft113053 Some of those might not be the simplest but there are some basic recipes on that thread. You can make oatmeals super high calorie. Same with pastas, just add a lot of butter, oil, cheese, double the serving. I agree that Paula Deen is a master at high calorie foods, so I"m sure you could do some googling with that. Like gem said, marinades and how you cook things are important, try sauteeing in oil and adding lots of dressings. If you get brave you can venture into different cuisines, like thai or indian uses a lot of coconut milk which is really high calorie, or you can even just replace the coconut milk in things like cereal or oatmeal for extra calories. oo and one more thing, the Elvis Sandwich! 2 pieces of thick bread, spread heavily with pb, some fried bacon, then pan fry the whole thing! |

| Weight Gain | Tips, and a cheaper diet? | Apr 01 2009 04:17 (UTC) |
|
haha Clay that is brilliant! I just go get like 20 samples of everything when no ones looking, especially the granolas, dried fruits, and "energy" nugget things that are super high calorie. I can make an entire snack out of it. ohnoyoko: most of the tips have been really good so follow those and dig through the weight gain thread and forums like "what did you eat today" to get more ideas. Honestly, trying to follow that diet plan to the dot is kind of extreme and unneccesary and doesn't even seem all that logical as far as what foods it gives you. Plus where' the variety?? YOu have to have some fun with your food too. It seems like an excess of low cal proteins and not enough fats and carbs. You can still body build with a more balanced plan and do it without such filling foods. there are recipes around here for 1000 calorie oatmeals, dried fruits and nuts are of course a must, using oils as dressing for your veggies and rice, or pasta. Why not use whole eggs? It's better for you, higher calorie, more nutrients and much cheaper. You can use beans as a protein source too and buying them in bulk is really cheap. Again, switch to at least 2% milk to make getting the cals in easier, use hearty wheat breads instead of rice cakes and you can make some good pb sandwiches. My favorite ways to add calories and nutrition are nut butters and full fat greek yogurt, though thats a bit more on the expensive side but if you have a costco or sam's around you, those are great places to buy food in bulk too. |

me me me!!! I've been doing it for 6 years but on and off. I love it! I did it for about 3 years straight, then it got a little difficult to keep up in college. I've been going back for the last year or so as much as I can between work and what I can afford but that ends up being once a week at best. So...yeah, I'm pretty out of shape :X ! But It is great for self esteem, strenght building, endurance, and just to have fun. I grew up doing gymnastics and dance so I love the acrobatic aspect to it and the music really gets me pumped too. I also like that its multidimensional- to be a capoeirista you have to know the music, the dances, the martial arts, the language, the instruments, it's a whole cultural experience. I'd really like to go to Brazil and learn portuguese too. I know it might not hold up in a fight against other martial artists but I'm sure the strenght and teqniques could still help me out if I needed it. I actually cracked my shin bone a few years ago kicking someone aguardente: where do you train? sounds like you're in the UK, it's great that everywhere I travel I always meet people who do it! |

This is most definitely ED rearing his ugly head and trying to get you to miss out on one of the greatest things ever. Wasn't the challah amazing?! That alone is reason enough to eat it, but nonetheless, bread is vital for your health and recovery. I totally understand being afraid of carbs, I still am, and for that very reason, i incorporate some form of grain into every single meal and snack. It's a good source of energy, and really good for you if you get more complex carbs, like the hearty whole grain breads, pasta, rice, barley, oats, etc. The possiblitities are endless, and actually will make you much less bloated than trying to get all your calories from vegetables. I'll get pretty bloated from lots of vegetables, but a nice bowl of warm oatmeal or peice of toast or rice pudding will ease the bloat. Some good examples of ways to incorporate these: I usually have some sort of oatmeal/ cereal/ granola with breakfast, a sandwich/ crackers/ tortillas/ pita with lunch, I like cereal or english muffins with yogurt and fruit and nuts for snack, pasta/ rice/ pizza/ rice with dinner, and usually oats/ cookies/ cereal/ cakes/ etc etc for before bed. And of course keep adding in the higher cal things as has been said like avocado, nut butters, olive oil, dried fruit, all of which go great with breads! You've been around here for a while so I trust that you can distinguish between that ED voice and the real you, now just start LISTENING to you and tell ED to shut up! |

Screw being uncomfortable, anything worthwhile takes extra effort. Everyone else: I will also back up lalabanana by saying please post ED related discussion in "no ED in healthy" that is what its there for. zopta- I know how hard this is and you seem to be just at the beginning of recovery and really struggling. I think before paying so much for a nutritionist, you should really consider a doctor and a therapist. The nutritionist will not help at all if mentally you still can't handle the foods they're going to tell you to eat. A therapist may help you work out why food causes so much anxiety, why you've eliminated so many food groups and what is keeping you from jumping into recovery now. I would really hold off on birth control or medical treatments for your hormones for now since that's a result of malnourishment and will get better as you begin to feed yourself properly again. It might be neccesary if you get to a healthy weight and your hormone levels are still off, depending on how much damage has been caused already, but so many of our medical problems will get better with proper nourishment- such as being tired, depressed, anxious, the heart palpitations and hormone imbalances, as well as numerous other issues that come along with being underweight that have already been listed on this site. |

way to go! I've recently done some of those impulse purchases of fear foods like whole chocolate bars and it feels so good! If i could handle the dairy in the girl scout cookies I'd so buy them. All of my friends have stocked up since it's the season, seriously, most have gotten about 5 or 6 boxes at least and not even to share haha. They're a perfectly acceptable part of any diet, all my friends are healthy beautiful people who like good food, sometimes that means junky treats, sometimes that means good quality. Either way it doesn't affect them negatively at all. The best gift you'll be able to give your family is to enjoy those cookies WITH them. Trust me, they'll be so happy to see you allowing yourself treats again! |

Everyone's already covered everything, but I know it always makes me feel better to know i"m not alone so YES YES YES!!! I eat sweet things multiple times a day! I don't go overboard and I balance it out, as Lala said, with all my other healthy foods, but you should never ever deprive yourself. Everyone, whether trying to gain or lose or maintain, deserves to eat what they like and indulge in treats. Life is short after all, no? I have ice cream almost every night unless I happen to have some other sweet thing around, I spread pb on cookies, I love to bake so I have a steady supply of cakes and cookies on hand too, but since I bake it I can make it with healthier ingredients, dried fruits and nuts, things like banana bread, dark choc chip cookies. It's all goes back to balance, such as putting strawberries and almonds in my ice cream :) Topping fruit cobbler with ice cream, Having some yogurt but crumbling a cookie in, etc etc.Muffins are a perfectly healthy thing to include in your diet. point: do not feel bad and enjoy your muffins!! |

| Weight Gain | How much to push for? | Mar 06 2009 22:30 (UTC) |

Both of you, YES YES YES!! push yourself. I know you're both mentally strong enough to do this. You've proven you can eat well, now don't get so caught up in the numbers and up it as much as possible. Victoria- dont be afraid of 100!! that is 100 beautiful pounds of spunky rebel chick, and closer to having the health and energy needed to be a real rebel ;) I can tell you this much, you're taller than me, my lowest weight was 97 for a brief moment though I hovered around 101. At that weight my dad would cry when he saw me and say he wanted to see me on feeding tubes. I've seen pictures of myself from that weight and I look like I'm walking out of a concentration camp, I had bruises on my knees from where they'd hit together when I slept, I couldn't sit down in class for long, etc etc. I know and can very well see that you are a stunning girl, but that weight hon, it's not pretty, you need to get to 100 and past it to reach your real gorgeous potential. Not to mention for health too! Your body is suffering and slowly dying the longer you stay at such a dangerous weight. but as Ellie said, you KNOW this already!! You're extremely intelligent, strong-willed, and determined, now you just have to trust yourself a little. Just give it a try, and we'll be here if you do happen to need that outside push. |

Check out the weight gain forum - http://caloriecount.about.com/aim-gain-advice -weight-whatever-reason-ft121680 There are lots of us on here trying to gain weight, but you can't be afraid to eat more! oatmeal multiple times a day is perfectly healthy and a great way to add healthy calories for the day, given that you're making it with the right add ins. Use all milk, no water, whole milk if possible, and add in pb, nuts and dried fruit, sugar or honey. YOu need WAYYY more than that for lunch, higher cal doesn't have to be junk food, as people have said, add toppings like seeds, avocado or chicken and cheese to salad, you can make sandwiches, pastas, loaded baked potatoes, etc. You'll get a lot of ideas from the weight gain boards. |

Hello ladies! I've been trying to be less obsessive with numbers and all so I was taking a cc break. Last week I was traveling for work and was super stressed about food and sleep deprived so I started logging cals again and that needs to stop. BUT this morning my whole family went out for a brunch buffet (had a bit of a freak out about it yesterday) however I did really well, so well in fact that my dad even joked aobut how many times I went back to the buffet to get more, saying sarcastically "another plate again? watch out you might gain weight" and I answered back sarcastically "oh no!" and then the rest of today i still did not cut back at all. pre- brunch to hold me over: half sweet potato baked with ginger, warm glass of vanilla soy. brunch: fruit plate with lots of papaya, watermelon, strawberries, canteloupe and walnuts, slice banana bread, 1/4 bagel (that's how they were cut), giant omelette that they made in front of me (with ungodly amounts of oil that actually made it taste not so good) with chives, tomato, and sauteed spinach, salad with capers and vinaigrette, chocolate covered strawberry, 1/2 choc covered banana with sprinkles, bite of my brothers butter tart thing. whew!! snack: carrots snack: banana with about 2 of my big spoons worth of almond butter mixed with cocoa, peach soy yogurt mixed with grape nut type cereal and banana puff cereal dinner: after all the junk i was still craving some comfort food, so made mac and cheese style spaghetti with creamy "cheeze" sauce (soy milk, slice of cheddar style rice cheese, nut yeast) sauteed spinach, asparagus and cauliflower snack: bowl of oats made with 1/2 a pureed jicama (strange i know but it's sweet?) almonds, vanilla soymilk, dried peaches, topped with some of this vegan flan I tried to make that did not set at all, so I froze it and turned it into soy "flan" type ice cream!
I don't know the cals of all that but it seems like a lot |

Chrissy- I've done that too! I have several pairs of pants that I've found and absolutely LOVE, but I've bought them big, so I have these awesome clothes that I"m so excited to wear and look good in and I know what I have to do in order to do that. The trick is to find things you really really like, plus you know jeans always look much better over some curves ;) I ate fast food almost every day this week because I was stuck working in the med center in Boston where the only food available was a food court, the stupid conference wouldnt provide anything, other than coffee at 11:30 and the only options for me at lunch at 1:30 would be salad or roasted veg :\, my parents can somehow survive off of no breakfast or snacks, but I persevered anyways, bought my own food, made due with sketchy unknown preservatives and whatnot. Unfortunately I didn't make calorie goal any of those days, because it was crazy how unbelievably hard it was in those circumstances! but I still know that I literally stuffed myself with anything available to me, including going to the pharmacy every night in order to get in up to 600 cals of almonds a night after work to boost the cals. |

hey agru! Yeah, after I posted last night I realized a lot of it looks kinda diety-y, so i hope no one takes it that way! I don't post a lot of the portions though or dressings, like the beans were over a cup of white beans and about a cup of lentils with oil, same yesterdays too. Then the dips are all high cal too, tahini is 90 a tbsp, hummus is 50 for 2 and i had more than that, then the greek yogurt. lunch for some erason Ive noticed is my lightest meal of the day, it's too close to other meals for me to be hungry and I know if I don't overdo it, i won't have stomach issues for the afternoon. I do pasta quite often for dinner, or grains, dinner is usually more carb based, and I'm working on getting them in throughout other meals too, like toast or english muffins with pb is a common snack, breakfast usually has something in there too, don't forget the cookies, crackers, oats, wheatberries, cereal, I do get them in, even if it's not in the form of "bread" bread. I've been eating a lot of sandwiches lately but I'm honestly just not the biggest fan of just plain old bread :\ Don't worry though, even though I know I"m ludicrously healthy lol, I"m not neglecting any nutritional value and am still staying around 3000 cals every day! |

Hey guys! ok so todays been really good in the sense that I have no idea about calories, like not even an estimate, I ate what felt right when I was hungry...yes yes, i said the word hungry, my stomach told me! and my brain also helped a bit by telling me which choices were higher calorie. Yesterday was good too so I"ll post what I remember: yesterday: today: s- big warming bowl of grape nuts mixed with autumn wheat, dried apricots and vanilla soy, and a few globs of pb on top. snacked on an orange almond cookie was this was heating up but i'll prob get more because I get worriedwhen I don't count, and I might as well feel safer. rebel- I'm so sorry hon! please know this is not your fault, nor is it related to your weight and whether you eat or not, and you know this. This guy was a jerk, yes, he may love you, in fact, I'm sure he does, but it doesnt make him any less stupid, and he has issues that you don't deserve to have to deal with right now or ever. Do not do what you're thinking of doing, you also deserve better than that, you shouldn't stoop to this guys level, it will make him feel even worse to know that you're a better person than him. I'd love to talk to you more about this and am totally willing to listen if you want to pm me, stay strong! fuelforlife- omg feed me!!!!!!! agru- you're very right about the carb thing, i'm still a carbophobe :\ I'm not sure why, logically I know how good grains are for me, but since I crave them at night I feel like I have to budget for them during the day. I know....very dumb. I don't know why I still let the illogical side rule sometimes on this. Though strangely the day I posted last time did have a carb at every meal, I'm working on it! more responses tomorrow...I need sleep! goodnight and happy eating everyone! |

Ellie- oh wow that explains a lot! i didn't talk to my doctor but I'm seeing a gyno finally for hormone imbalances that I've actually had for years. I've never had a regular period without birth control, but since the last birth control i was on pretty much caused the bulk of my problems I've been scared to start again so I just haven't had a period for 1 1/2 years. I have very low estrogen and high testosterone, plus all the thyroid issues :\ But I actually just started taking the estrogen pills again 2 days ago so we'll see what happens. I'm hoping it makes me look a bit more womanly and helps with a bunch of other things too. But I've also been getting some stomach pains after eating reminiscent of the side effects birth control had last time. Nowhere near as bad but it kind of scares me so if it continues the rest of the week I'll have to call the doc again. I also do tend to eat most of my calories at night, sort of "save them up" which is bad, but I still get in all my cals. So no idea where to count those middle ground calories? |

| Weight Gain | Weight Gainers: What did YOU eat today? | Feb 20 2009 05:21 (UTC) |

hey guys, ok first i'm going to be a little self centered because today was really confusing. I think I did ok eating wise, didn't count, and I'm not even sure if I can estimate well because I took so many random bites of things here and there, didn't measure, and went out. But also I have a big question!! So I still eat sometimes in the middle of the night, no it is NOT because i'm not eating enough, I get about 3000 cals a day, it's just a habit, I don't sleep well and when I'm up ...well i'm not sure why, when I was still really really underweight I knew I needed to eat any chance I got, now i feel like I might as well get in some cals while i'm up, and I sort of feel like something warm and carby helps me get back to bed. Typically this is around 2 and i don't really count the cals for either the day before or the following because I don't know where they'd fall, but sometimes like last night I wake up later. So at about 4 am this morning I had about 600 calories. I was actually still a little full from it when I got up for good but ate some breakfast anyways because I don't know whether the 4am meal can count as an early breakfast or what. So while I dont really know cals today and probably am not under, it bugs me to not have ANY clue or even range estimate for cals since that gives me a 600 cal margin that may or may not count towards today. Ok that was long, sorry! anyone have any insight? here are todays meals: 4 am: 4 orange almond cookies (made these earlier this week, wow, they are good!) spread with raspberry jelly, handful of almonds, cup of warmed up vanilla soymilk, bowl of hot cereal with vanilla soymilk. b- wheatberries with a tangelo, 1/2 apple, blackberries, another ounce or so of almonds, fage yogurt, coconut juice. l- pumpkin seed crackers and carrots with hummus, salad made with sprouts, edamame and spinach, tahini, oo, lemon juice s- coconut "frozen dessert" from the asian supermarket, like coconut ice cream with lots of coconut meat frozen inside a coconut bowl (220 cals), sort of pb ball made by throwing a bunch of pb and cereal into a bowl and mixing it all into one big ball in my bowl- yum! and oh so calorie filled, eeeek d- Jason's deli portobello and guacamole sandwich on ww ciabatta, steamed broccoli and carrots s- heated up mixed cereals including kashi autumn wheat, oat bran, and grape nut style cereal (again, no idea of measurements or how to count the cals??) with vanilla soymilk, another ounce of almonds, blueberries, honey. grapes. And there were various bites of more almonds and snacking in between this, but I don't remember. ohno- great job!!! it gets easier, I promise! it seems like a shocking number at first but soon it becomes a habit, but also having recently slipped back i know how hard it is seeing those calories go up. But you can do it! keep going and stick with more calorie dense foods if you're bloated. for instance- no diet coke!! drink juice or milk, it's healthier and has calories; you can easily bulk up breakfast with nuts and dried fruit, and how can you manage only 1/2 tbsp of pb and jam??? slather that stuff on!!! and maybe add another side with your sandwich, full fat yogurt with some nuts or granola would be really good, or have that with snack, since your afternoon seems very low cal. After dinner snack however sounds fantastic! lala- you sound like you're doing much better, yay!!!! and I have a box of dairy free mac and cheese waiting to be eaten in my pantry, I"m so excited for it!oh and i love bbc good foods! i need to get around to making some of those veg dishes! rebel- i think we're taste twins :) I miss you when you don't post too! not that i'm one to talk lol... fuel for life- i have to second what ellie said, your menu sounds incredible!! i want all of it minus the meat haha sayuri- welcome back! i'm sorry about the weight loss but your intentions are in the right place. Do you think it's just stress when you're back in Japan? I know when I'm out of my comfort zone I get stressed and don't eat as much. Try to focus on the reasons for feeling stressed and keep it seperate from your food intake, you need the food no matter what, especially because you need the energy to deal with all the new situations! k, well i'm gonna finish off my snack, perhaps add a little more to it ;) and then get to bed. Night lovelies! |

SLR: OMG congratulations!!! I'm sure you could not possibly look more beautiful at the moment!! I can't wait to get mine back, I"m dealing with the gyno on all that right now and should be leveling out my hormones soon since I had issues with that pre-ed. I'm so ready to feel like a real woman again! How is everything else going? I"ve missed you! Lala- How did the show go? I'm not a fan of nutella either, but I do love mixing cocoa with almond butter, or the other day I made a really good fudge sauce out of tahini, cocoa powder and honey. It was soooo good! Clay- yay!!! i'm glad I'm motivating you! So, i'm going to wait around on facebook and aim later like a goofy teenager waiting by the phone because we didn't talk yesterday and that's no fun. missmunchkin- def feel free to post! honestly, the menu still looks a bit under but I guess I don't know portions....as for sat fats, don't worry about it! It looks like you're eating all healthy foods and Dairy fats, even though saturates, are really good for you. There's all kinds of myths about fats out there that get thrown around to confuse dieters and healthy eaters, but all natural sources of fats are super healthy. I think the apple crumble with ice cream sounds amazing, warm up the cake, top with ice cream, you can even put some toffee or chocolate sauce or chopped nuts on top for extra cals. I make some mean high cal sundaes! Is it weird that I do like soggy cereal? I actually usually warm up cold cereals on purpose.... The not counting is still difficult but working out well. I tallied up estimates with a calculator last night at the end of the day and found myself at about 2800 then had an extra cookie and few handfuls of almonds. So overall I feel that I did a pretty good job of getting the right amount more intiutively. However that means I don't remember everything I ate yesterday so I'll just have to post tomorrow. Today I'm soooo soo tempted to log everything because i'm worried I'll be under or over or whatever, but I've had some extra pb in my snack and think i'll throw a whole avocado in with dinner to be safe and somehow distract myself from the calorie counter here. Any ideas? |

| Fitness | How many hours do you work out in a week? | Feb 17 2009 04:07 (UTC) |

I'm right there with you agruskin! Less than 2 hours on a good week, maybe I'll ride my bike to the grocery store = 30 min tops. If I'm motivated enough I'll do like 30 minutes of yoga once or twice. But that's on weeks I have time or feel particularly energetic. Wow, this thread makes me feel like a lazy bum :\ Question though, where do you guys find the time to work out for so long? What about work and family and friends? ....sleep, eating, etc? |

chirpp- so now let's be honest, you can't go back to the low fat stuff anymore can you? Full fat flavor is THE BEST!!! I made the switch to full fat greek yogurt very early on and now think the fat free stuff tastes horrible. You will not be dissapointed :) LALA the model!!!!! Good luck tonight and post some pics! |

agru- please don't be offended, we know you've gone through the same thing and just want us all to feel as free as you do, because honestly, the way you flat out decided ED was gone and moved on with life was sooo impressive, and you should be really proud of that! But it seems that as soon as you felt recovered you went from once being very supportive and understanding to just very agressive in how you respond to posts on here. tough love is one thing, but I usually get the impression that you're just really angry at us. I dunno, maybe its just that it's online? But really, I'm so happy that you've done so well, and anytime I think of you it makes me want a big NY bagel, so that's a very good thing :) Mashed- OMG Morocco tomorrow!!!!!! I expect lots of facebook pics, and I hope you have a blast and really enjoy the rich culture. I wish I could go with you! Oh, and your cherry oats on the blog looks like maybe the best porridge invention ever. summer- way to go on the desserts! I think everyone should enjoy desserts. I think a panetonne bread pudding would be amazing! lala- you're doing great! don't worry about posting eats all the time, as much as it inspires me to keep up with you, I totally understand, sometimes I'm too tired, i snacked all day or I just don't remember. It' more normal to not keep an accurate account of everything. And it's great you've been pushing past the stomach aches, that's hard because any normal person would just take it easy and I have to keep telling myself I'm not a normal person, I can't afford to take a day off. It's even harder when my friends don't get it, and they'll be like, if you're not hungry, why eat? or if your stomach hurts don't eat it, duh. And I have to be like NO you don't understand!! so my eats so far today: b- grape nut type cereal mixed iwth kashi autum wheat, blueberries, vanilla soymilk, grapes, fage. s- carrots and hummu l- falafel! I made some for the potluck last night, with tahini dressing, a big salad with sprouts, red pepper, spinach, avocado, olive oil and lemon juice. s- 3 graham crackers with lots of pb, and mixed grape jelly and apricot jelly, an orange, more greek yogurt d- will be leftover falafel, leftover sauteed mushrooms which I may make into a quiche with some premade pie crust i have. s- dont know yet, maybe mashed's cherry chai chocolate oats! plus lots of almonds because that's how i love getting the cals in. |
