Sorry girls I've been slacking due to my birthday weekend...heather that is GREAT news! Hard work pays off ( : I am still stuck but I consider a birthday a legit excuse.

How is everyone doing? Did we lose everyone on our string? Hope you are all doing well and getting closer to your goals!

hey ram0506 - have you been on CC long? the last lbs are always so hard to lose, I think its because in order to hit a deficit you have to workout nearly everyday OR eat very carefully. In my case, I should do both!

heather - how did you determine the waist/hip ratio is the best for you? I know nothing about it...

Pilates kicks my rear end! Just a warning, be ready for a good workout ( : I just got back from the gym and I am starting to think I should mix up my routine...I did 30 minutes on my typical level and didnt feel as drained as I typically do. Have you girls read about changing the levels up and down to trick your body? I read some posts on that too...

Did I mention how much I loved power yoga? I think I should go more often and say screw the price, haha.

PS - Welcome mhaskell, sounds like you are already on the right track!!

How are you managing your daily calories/what is your budget? Seems like you burn more thru resistance training but I could be wrong since all I do is basic cardio Embarassed

ysalg - that sounds like an AMAZING weekend, I have Italy-envy ( : Good for you for staying active AND making it fun, you totally deserve Chinese, haha.

heather, I found this little page from another post and I love it...I think your weekly intake looks very close to what I am following (with the exception of my slip-ups).

http://www.phord.com/cc/index.php

There are so so so many resources out there for calorie intake and recommendations in regard to burn rates etc, but I think the basic way is the best way so we don't get bogged down with so many details and worries. At least that's my dream during this process, ha.

Calorie Count Need help figuring out Burn Meter Apr 05 2008

Calorie deficit for most of us is essential to achieving our goals. On a high level to lose a pound a week, you must create a deficit of ~3500 calories. Meaning you would take in 500 less calories than you burn. You can use these meters as a guide.

Many people cut about 250 calories and burn about 250 calories a day to allow for this, but there are a variety of ways. There are endless links, tips and stories if you poke around the forums. Good luck!

Weight Loss 5'6 goals? Apr 05 2008

Just wanted to drop in and say that as much as I think about how amazing it would be to hit 125, my personal goal is about 130/135. Each day I work toward understanding my body and developing a lifestyle that I can maintain for years...

If any of you girls want to share your calorie intake on both gym and 'off gym' days - that would be great. I love to see how people vary, etc.

Happy weekends

ohhh right, the beer must have smushed my memory ( ; I have had really good results from push ups. Even with knees, they make your back look great! I also recommend getting a medicine ball or even use another form of support for ab strengthening.

I love enchilladas, your bf rocks. ha

Welcome wello! Sounds like you are pretty close already, keep us posted!

To tighten & tone, try Pilates or assisted machines at the gym. You could also invest in power yoga, I love it but where I live it can get expensive. Resistance training is top notch for toning an already thin bod heather!

Just to vent, I totally slipped up, had beer and dip tonight ) : Back to basics I guess....

But I now use my digital - even though I cant be positive that it is dead on accurate but when I made the switch it was 3 lbs over my spring scale. Call me a masochist but I went with the digital ( ;

I too am an emotional eater, it is SO tough to set limits and stop myself. I typically eat something that I can have a lot of, like veggies and dip or popcorn - that way while I'm totally zoned out and being emotional, I don't have to count every single item that goes into my mouth. I also just allow myself the slip up (with frozen yogurt especially) and just limit calories on the following day. I completely understand but remember its going to happen every now and then....

Heather - which ever scale you decide to use, just stick with it. I have had both types of scales in my bathroom for the past month and its driving me crazy. I just recently started using only ONE for my weigh ins. Even if this is 'off' from what you think, you will start to notice a pattern of spikes and declines. I think consistent is better than hopping from one scale to another. You may go mad Surprised

Pancakes are SO worth it! I think my 'joy' meal this weekend will be breakfast too, I just love all the options. Plus on the weekends I dont even get to lunch - something happens where I completely skip right over it ( :

Heather, the small meal thing is something I am trying to get into during the week, I hear its good for your metabolism to continue to have small foods every few hours - especially if its 'clean' foods. I am working on those too, haha.

OK I am so excited about the soup recipe, thanks so much!

keeljm, I had a cheeseburger if that makes you feel any better ( ; awesome for the CW after the TB. You have plenty of time before the big day, plus if you do it correctly - you wont have to worry about being one of those newlyweds who gains it all back within the first month of being married (i.e. the girls who starve or stop carbs all together).

Welcome jen! Question for you...how long did it take for the easy 10 lbs loss early on? Did you have a steady calorie intake? I dont want to rush I just want to feel like I am not making mistakes in my patterns. PS I dont love my curves ) : wish I did.

One last question for you girls...how will you get thru the weekend ahead? Any meals planned? Weekends are so tough...

That was really encouraging - thank you parao! It is so tough to imagine when you are on the lower end of the 'dieting world' reaching for 125...maybe the key is patience and making this a lifestyle change rather than a 'project' to look less chubby. The advice was great, now I just have to be strong ( :

Holy cow heather - I'd kill to be at your weight! Sounds like you have a very clear goal, the calorie intake sounds pretty close to mine so maybe thats my problem...I should drop my intake a bit since I'm much heavier. I think thats how it works, I could be tired...haha

Ladies, I know this group was meant to be quite small, but I'd love to join! I am 5'6", about 146and have been 'aiming' for 130 - which (until I found this group) I considered unreachable given my knack for never mixing up workouts and slipping up each weekend just enough to ruin my weekly efforts ) :

Any of you girls want to share calorie intakes and workout schedules? Do you mix up cardio routines or zig zag your daily calorie intakes? I'd love to share tips and stories of success.

and.....I'm not ready, but I will weigh in tomorrow Embarassed

I had a very boring turkey sandwich tonight in fear that I may have gained 10 lbs over the holiday weekend...did anyone else go overboard??

Weight Loss Question about calories you drink Mar 18 2008

I have actually counted beverage calories earlier on in my diet - it was outrageous! I have just recently cut back (of course not completely, Im human) to drinking with friends (alcohol) and coffee with skim in the morning. I have also found a wonderful new friend in TEA - I absolutely love it ( : There are so many flavors and benefits, not to mention the extra added bonus that it fills you up!

Just a thought...

Weight Loss Flexible daily calories? Mar 15 2008

This has been a topic I have discussed with a few friends, I completely support the zig zagging calories during a week. I find it especially good to support dinner dates with friends as well as keeping my body on its toes (ha-so to speak). I never really go too low (1100 lowest) but I have had pretty high calorie intake days that I balance with some aggressive workouts and leafy meals ( :

If you are maintaining or looking for a loss of 1 lb per week (deficit of 3500 cals) - I think its about the math. And of course being healthy.

I second that! I would LOVE to go for hours and hike, even if I feel like I may pass out - its just such an awesome experience and peaceful. I think also the company makes it nicer ( ; Now I have 'hiking envy' and'roller blade envy'...

Thats awesome, I haven't roller-bladed in 9 years! I think I'd fall...hard. Sounds like a pretty productive day, I hope to get half that done today ( : I definitely have to work on not thinking about all the ways to burn off the breakfast I had this morning...instead just think of ways to strengthen my body and keep on track. Boy I wish they had a roller blade machine at the gym, haha.

Enjoy Sunday
