Restless, thanks for the warm welcome! Here goes... Name: Melissa
In 2008, I lost 20 lbs., but then started to slink back into bad habits toward the end of the year. Between November, December, and January, I gained back 5 lbs. I'm just trying to get back on track. My biggest challenge is self-control. |

Ugh...my cheap scale broke. I had to weigh myself at the gym today. Does anyone have a suggestion for a reputable-brand scale that isn't going to break the bank? Good news though...down one pound from last weigh in: 126 lbs. |

| Hi Brenda...that sounded like an awful experience. Good thing you have your van back. It's important to take it one day at a time. I find that exercising helps me cope better with those unexpected stresses. Of course, I don't have kids, so my schedule is a little more flexible. Have you ever tried to fit in 20-30 mins of exercise first thing in the AM?
Good work with the salmon burger and saying no to the steak fries and the cheese.
I left my lunch at home by accident today. Trying to find something nutritious at the dining hall (I work at a university). Need to save calories before I go to my mom-in-law's retirement dinner. Veg: What did you have in your sandwich? Your menu seems very healthy, sans the sugary oatmeal bar. I wish I could give up meat...haven't had success yet. |

Hi...hope everyone is doing well. Hey Brenda! Today my co-workers brought in cookies (230 cals/each), brownies, danish, and other stuff for a celebration. It seems like we have these "celebrations" every other day. When I took only a sliver of a brownie, I got lip from some of my co-workers. Whatever! My self-control is getting stronger. aper: My calorie target is about the same as yours. It is tough, but if you're diligent about filling up on the right kinds of foods (fruits, veggies, whole grain, lean proteins), you'll do fine. For those of you in college right now, it may help to plan meals ahead of time and write them out. I used to go nuts eating anything at any time...then I would lose weight when I would go back home and have more structure during the day. |

Just weighed myself...same as Monday, 127 lbs. Passed on the brownies and cookies at work. Why do they routinely bring the same junk food in? Marmel--it's probably muscle. Do you notice your clothing fitting better and your flabby areas getting firmer? (Not calling you flabby though.) Ladyashleigh--hope your final went well and congrats on the weight loss. | Hey Brenda! Hope all is well. I'm good (name's Melissa, by the way). Been busy, that's why I was MIA. Good work with the pizza. I find I have no self control, so I wouldn't even be able to have the pizza box in my house. I have a dilemma maybe you guys can help me with. I'm trying to cut down on the snacking. My apt is full of snack foods (whole boxes of kettle corn and cookies, candy, etc.). I don't want to consume them, but I don't want them to go to waste. Should I feel bad about tossing them? I don't want to give them away to friends and promote unhealthy snacking...lol. Welcome to all the new members! | |||

| Awesome...it's all about substitutes. When I go to Red Robin, I go nuts, so I understand how hard it is. For my Cinco de Mayo party, I used vegetable protein instead of ground beef or pork for the tacos. They tasted just as good, but with less calories and fat. I do need to practice portion control, however. | |||
