hey all,

my mental health requires that i only face the scale once a week - which i guess will be Friday for me.  so i don't have a new weight to report.  my goal this week is to be more active.  i have the same problems as karrene - not enough time.  i intended to break out the treadmill last night but instead went to bed @ 7:00 w/ a migraine (lots of fun).  i fully intend to make up for it tonight.  i also have another goal....i'm...gulp....a coke drinker.  not that fake diet stuff but real, unadulterated, pure, throat burning coke.  i LOVE it.  but - i'm going to give it up (or at least limit the use to 12oz/day for the time being).  i know it isn't healthy and i don't really like the diet substitute, so the time has come...eek!!

Hey First Step

I am excited to report that i guessed at my weight when i originally signed on.  i actually faced the scale friday and my actual weight is 228lbs - while that is still an obnoxious amount - it is ridiculous how happy those 20lbs made me.  so anyway, my starting weight is 228lbs and my height is 5'6".

my goal is to lose 80lbs!!

i will be honest and admit that i'm not the most "active" person in the world.  with a full time job and two kids - it seems impossible to find time to work out (living thru a cold ohio winter does not help the lethargic attitude).  generally, i have to choose b/w working out and sleeping and sleeping always wins but - for my health - this week my goal is to start a cardio program for at least 3 nights for at least 30 minutes each.  We'll progress from there.

Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me and feel free to nag the bejeezus out of me if i don't get off my fanny and move.....!!!

I'm also a reformed weight watcher.  i will admit that i lost weight on the plan but i never changed how i felt about food and just felt completely burdened by the points system.  i would play games where i would eat really light a day or two before weigh in and then pretty much not follow the plan for the rest of the week - it resulted in weight loss but not positive results.  i hated the weigh in.  even though our leader was/is a very nice lady - i hated that i had to be accountable to anyone other than myself for my weight fluctuations.  i hated the pity on her face when the scale would be up.  so- basically - i stopped going and unfortunately, stopped trying and gained all my weight back.  however, i did learn some positive things - number one, you HAVE to journal your food/calories.  i kept a journal for @ a week before i found CC and i have to say - there were days when i was amazed at the amount of calories i ate while thinking i was eating healthy.  while i am still learning my way around this site - so far i think it is wonderful!

i'm on board!!  i originally started @ 1yr ago at 239lbs.  through weight watchers i lost 45lbs but i didn't stick with it.  now, i'm back up to the 240lb mark and want to get a grip - and, honestly, i want to try to have another baby this year and i want to be a healthier weight to start before trying.  so - please count me in.  i don't have a specific date in mind by which i hope to be done, i'm trying to look at this as a lifelong, healthy living lifestyle but i can't wait to get back under 200lbs!!!!

Dear nvyscr22 - i know this is easier said that done, but you need to relax.  you are doing everything that you possibly can do to create a wonderful environment for your baby to grow inside you - but (fortunately or unfortunately) nature just doesn't give us total control.  i personally have had two miscarriages and also two wonderful healthy children so i know, i really really know that stress and fear that you have - but honestly, you need to relax and let nature take her course.  i'll keep you in my prayers.

Hi All,

i'm new to the site and still trying to learn how to navigate but i'm hoping you'll let me join your group.  i just turned 39 (we'll need a whole new support group next year when i turn 40, i'm afraid i'm not looking forward to leaving this decade).  i lost @ 80lbs eight years ago on a low fat diet but then i had my first child and rather than continue to focus on me and my weight - i focused entirely on her and gained most of it back.  then i had a couple miscarriages and gained weight with each one until i had my son 2yrs ago.  i now weigh @ 240lbs and am 5'6".  i tried Weight Watchers last year and lost 50lbs but didn't maintain it and now i weigh more than i did before!  i've decided to take charge of my life again and get serious about changing my lifestyle.  my ultimate goal is that neither of my children will ever have to struggle with their weight because i will have taught them the proper way to eat (we have a long way to go!).  big talk and big plans and i know i will need a lot of support to get there!!  can i join you guys on this journey?
