Recipes pancake Jul 11 2008

Here's a good one for whole wheat pancakes:

"19. Easy Whole Wheat Pancakes
These count as just a breakfast entree, and are a great substitute for the NS pancakes, especially when they are out of stock. :) The recipe makes one serving, so you have your portion-control built right in and aren't tempted to have more than you should (that's an important factor to me). Of course if you have a family you want to feed breakfast to, you can make as many servings at once as you prefer.

1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 Tbsp Splenda
1/4 cup FF milk
2 Tbsp egg beaters
1/2 tsp vanilla

Mix flour, baking powder, and Splenda together. Gently stir in milk, egg beaters, and vanilla. Pour onto hot sprayed griddle and cook until golden on each side. Makes 3 pancakes at approx 138 cal, 0.5 g fat, and 9 g protein. Counts as your breakfast entree (add your dairy/protein serving and fruit to complete breakfast).

These can be sprayed with 0 cal butter spray and served with 20 cal of SF syrup (I like Smucker's SF syrup, 20 cal for 1/4 cup, or Walden Farms 0 cal syrup). Just add the syrup cals to your breakfast totals if you count calories."

I got it from this site: http://amysmithr.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_arch ive.html. There are a few other pancake recipes on there that use a semi-low-cal pancake mix and then add other stuff to it. If you can find a mix that's around 130 cals for 1/3 cup, you're good. Enjoy!

Fitness Can't run for awhile... replacement exercise? Jun 05 2008

Hmm, I don't know... I don't have a bike, but jump rope sounds good, so I'll give that a try. As for power walking I try to do as much of that as I can already since I don't have a car and I walk everywhere. :)

I picked up this from someone on the forums:

1 cup water

1/2 cup oats

1/4 cup canned pumpkin

vanilla extract

almond milk

cinnamon

1/3 cup fibre one (but I add 1/6 cup fibre one and 1/6 cup special k almond blend instead!)

And then I sprinkle a little brown sugar on top. Sooooo good and it keeps me full for hours!

Just started this program recently (2 weeks now) and I'm loving it. :)

Though I did start it wrong... I was jogging 3 minutes and walking for 1 when I should have been doing it the other way around. :P THAT's why I've been so sore, lol. Back to square one for me tomorrow morning!

Maintaining 5'2 ladies around 100lbs: May 27 2008

Maintenance Stats: 5'1.5, 21 yrs old, 105 pounds

Calories: Roughly 1300-1400 a day, but I don't log them anymore. I logged for a few months to get to feel for what I could eat, and then stopped because it was stressing my out. I have several cheat days a week, but I also have several healthy days a week, so it balances out.

Foods: My favorite website for breakfasts right now: http://amysmithr.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_arch ive.html. These recipes are FANTASTIC and helped me lose the last 5 pounds. For lunch I tend to eat frozen dinners (watch the salt) and left overs from dinner the night before, always with a huge serving of vegetables (usually caesar or tossed veggies with some kind of calorie-wise dressing). Supper is usually some kind of chicken breast, pork chop, lean burger with a huge helping of vegetables. The key for me is to eat more veggies than meat and keep the meat portion relatively small. If I absolutely have to snack during the day I try to stick to fruits or low-cal yogurt.

Frequency of workouts: walk to work and back everyday, do cardio 3-4 times a week outside that.

Exercise: I do a 5 km jog/walk every other day. If you go to the fitness forums, there's a thread on learning how to run. That's where I got the idea from, and it seems to be working great! I feel skinnier, as silly as it sounds, every time I get back.

I originally wanted to get down to 105 lbs, and now that I'm there I'm very happy. I still have a bit of a pudgy stomach, so I'm going to keep up what I've been doing and with any luck it will go away. I'm hopeful since I've been able to get this far. :) Good luck!

Hey all, things seem to be going alright so far; I'm down to 105.4, so very very close to my goal!

I tend to vary my diet a lot so it's difficult to explain it in one post, but I do use a lot of recipes from this link: http://amysmithr.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_arch ive.html. I try to keep breakfast around 250-300 cals, lunch around 300-350 cals, and supper around 350-400 cals. One of my favorite breakfast recipes is one I found here... boil 1 cup of water, add 1/2 cup oats (steel cut), when it's almost finished cooking at 1/4 cup pumpkin, vanilla, and cinnamon. Use splenda to sweeten, add 1/3 cup fibre one (I actually add half as much fibre one and add another 1/6 cup of special k vanilla almond cereal). Add a little brown sugar on the top, and voila! It's delicious and extremely filling.

I started running last week as well and was feeling very good about it until I hurt my foot. :P However, I'm feeling better now and I think I'll give the 5k a try (instructions on how to do it in the Learn to Run thread in the Fitness forum: http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/276 98.html.

I'm 5"1, weigh 108 (down from 120!) and I'm looking to get to 105... so I hear ya. It seems like the last few pounds are the hardest to lose though, it feels like it's taking forever. :P

Smart Ones (Weightwatchers dinners) make a Turkey and Stuffing dinner that is only 210 calories and it is deliccccciiiiooous! It's not entirely filling, but a nice big tossed salad will fix it up.

I agree with what was said above about a lot of people discouraging it here... and while it is beneficial to make your own food, some times it's just not practical. I cook supper for myself when I get home and take left overs when I can, but I don't have time to do it every single day. This makes it easier, especially when I don't feel like cooking.

Weight Loss i am a little bit underweight, but you can't tell because of how my stomach bulges. what is wrong with me? Apr 29 2008

Original Post by missfrosty1:

I'm not underweight, but I have a similar problem. I've had this pot belly my entire life and it makes me look pregnant. It really sucks. But I think my problem is my posture. I have this really curved lower back. Could that be the case with you?

I am the EXACT same way and it is so frustrating! Cry It's like, I could even go underweight and I would never lose it. My back is very curved as well and it makes my stomach stick out really badly. I was hoping dieting would help me lose it, but after almost 13 pounds it's still there.

Just made these last night and I've never had pumpkin before; they are delicious! A question though; is there any way to make them rise up a bit more? They are a bit flat when I make them, though I'm not that good of a cook...

I walk to work and back everyday (uphill in the morning, downhill in the evening) but I take a longer route to get home. I also take a 30 minute walk on lunch breaks, and it helps keep me awake during that 2pm lull. Once a week I walk to the grocery store and load up with as many groceries as I can carry and walk back. I always feel good after that. :) I have a pilates ball as well, so whenever I think of it I do some excersizes with that (they're surprisingly tough!). I find that when I listen to music I walk faster, so I always have my headphones in. Anywhere you can squeeze in some time for any kind of activity, really, would be good. Oh, and cleaning definitely works as well and as a plus you'll have a clean place!

I wouldn't worry about being hungry... I remember back when I had my first surgery (knee operation) I didn't want to eat for quite awhile after I woke up. I wasn't sick or anything, but my appetite was definitely not there. I would just focus on recovering and becoming healthy again before worrying about your diet. Good luck!

Oooooh memememe! I'd love to be able to wear a bikini; I've never been able to before. I *think* I have 10-15 pounds to go before I can fit into one, but I'm more concerned with my look rather than numbers. :D

Count me in as well! :D

I'm 5"1 and weigh roughly 115lbs (down from 120 thanks to CC). People will see me cutting back on my eating and will tell me that there's no reason to do it, and that I'm "skinny enough". While I do agree that I'm thin, underneath my clothes is a little flabby and I'd kind of like to lose the flab. :P I'm not doing anything drastic; just cutting my calories a little bit, cutting back on the junk and eating more of the healthy stuff. My goal is to be able to wear a bikini by the summer. Good luck all! Cool
