I know I tend to yawn while exercising if my blood sugar is low...maybe that has something to do with it?

I would say you don't really need to worry about calories because:
A. you definitely are not overweight and you have plenty of room for weight gain
B. you are a teenage boy :)

Dude consider yourself lucky that you can eat over 3,000 calories a day. :D

hey everybody i only had half a slice of bread today and i kno that's only like 35 calories but the whole 1500 calories thing only applies to everybody else!!! I hope everybody will leave me lotz of commentz like, "Oh you have so much willpower!" and "I wish I could eat like you!" to reinforce my self destructive behavior!!! K thx evrybody.

Lol okay I definitely eat more than half a slice of bread per day, and I'm probably being kind of mean. But it gets really annoying when people post knowing 100% that they are eating too little, but they post anyway because they are presumedly trying to get attention or praise for their eating habits. But that particular comment has been deleted, which is a good thing. :)

4hgirl: congrats on the weight gain!! you should be really proud of yourself. :)

4hgirl: That is a little creepy lol. But it looks like you are a fellow coffee lover as well. :) I'm trying to use less artificial sweetners as well, but I haven't gotten to where I can cut them out completely. :/

teaandtrifle: I've had yellow cauliflower too! It's so much prettier than the boring white kind. :)

Breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 mugs of coffee with cream and stevia

Lunch: yogurt tube, lean cuisine pasta with chicken and vegetables with some little apple dessert on the side (lol idk if it's just me but I love when frozen meals come with little desserts. I think it's so cute!)

Snack: two hershey kisses, frozen strawberry bar, fruit snacks

Dinner: yogurt tube, strawberry milkshake poptart, 2 caramels (from the candy bin at kroger ^.^), can of minestrone soup

Snack: chocolate caramel kashi bar, lovely ambrosia apple :)

Laaate night snack (working on a project :/): weight control oatmeal (blegh I hate the name but it's yummy and cheap), indian tulsi tea with 1/2 cup skim milk (totally destresses me)

I ran about four miles today so I was hungryyy as you can probably tell lol. :D

Yeah I learned the 1500 calories thing from using this site. :)  I know you say that you are maintaining and don't want to gain weight, but you are technically underweight. You have a bmi of 17.4, and anything under 18.5 is considered underweight (here is a link with a bmi calculator if you don't know or understand what a bmi is). To gain a healthy amount of weight, you need to be eating at least 2,500 calories a day...since you are underweight, the 1,500 calories is definitely not enough for you.

http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

Your original weight of 120 pounds was perfectly healthy! :) Like it was seriously perfect. I promise. I'm not sure of the reasons why you chose to lose weight, but you really didn't need to. I suggest that you gain at least ten pounds...just to be back at a safe weight. I know it's scary to gain weight...my lowest weight at 5'7" was 108 pounds, horribly unhealthy, and I was convinced that I didn't need to gain weight. Twenty five pounds later, I am much happier, healthier, and I look better too.
So I suggest you head over to the weight gainers forum? There's a lot of good info and people over there who would be morrrreee than willing to help you. :)

Btw, lingering eating disorder issues, I have a really hard time eating in restaurants since I don't really trust other people making my food. So I totally understand the fear thing you are talking about. But when I relax and just try to enjoy it, I actually like Mexican food. :)

1200 calories is an improvement from what you were eating before, but 1500 calories is the absolute minimum for a growing teenage girl. You are only fourteen, and you still have a lot of growing to do (a lot of it goes on inside, where you might not be able to see it). A lot of these behaviors are hurting you and are unhealthy, as you seem to have realized....I really suggest that you talk to someone. I've struggled with an eating disorder in the past, and not to scare you or anything, but it only gets worse if you don't do something to change your behavior. :/

I would have a free day...your birthday is once a year. :) Eat what you want, just don't stuff yourself because then you'll feel yucky and sluggish and have a birthday filled with indigestion lol. :D And if you want to kinda eat healthy anyway, Olive Garden does have a healthy portion of their menu called "Garden Fare" (kind of cheesy I know). Here's the link if you want to have a quick look:

I've never tried it but it looks pretty good. :) Happy early birthday!

My dad is the exact same way. He grew up eating fatty, salty foods, and unfortunately he's carried his eating his habits into adulthood. No amount of nagging about his heart health (nagging supplied by me lol) will convince him to change, and I suspect that's the case with your parents as well. :/ You never know, people can surprise you and change when you least expect it. :) My dad has started working out regularly at least, so may be there is hope after all!

World_of_crayons: If you go to Chilis agains some time soon, check out their guiltless grill menu. They have a yummy grilled chicken sandwich w/ a side of beans or a salmon meal, and both are about 500 calories, which is pretty reasonable. That way you don't have to get a boring old side salad. :P

Haha trust me I am taking advantage of every holiday sleep in that I can before school starts up again. :PI think it's probably okay to eat about the same amount you normally do. Especially since you might stay up later when you sleep in later! :) If you're still worried about it, I would just try to be a little more active for the rest of the day to make up for it, which shouldn't be too difficult if getting more sleep gives you more energy. :)

The Lounge College students should be required to maintain a 3.5 GPA. Dec 03 2008

I think 3.5 is a little high to be required. I think students who have higher GPAs should get discounts on tuition, which is an incentive to get better grades (unless the people who are doing poorly are the ones going to college completely on mommy and daddy's paycheck). Maybe some colleges already do this? I'm not sure.

Only works if they're overweight. Plus I would never, ever, ever have the guts to say that to anybody's face lol.

Awww I hate hearing people so upset! :/ I know it's hard when you get into the cycle of eating junk food...you try not to eat it, then you crave it, then you binge on it, feel guilty...it goes on and on and on.

You're not ugly. You are a beautiful person who has happened to gain 15 pounds. It's really not a big deal sweetie. You are not a failure, and it can definitely be fixed. I completely identify with the addiction to sweets...I used to fill up my daily calories every day with nothing but sugar, sugar, sugar. I wasn't overweight, but I was terribly unhealthy.

The best thing I can suggest to you is to stop eating refined sugar. Go a couple days without eating any: fruits, milk sugars, and other non added sugars are probably fine....and try not to eat any artificial sweeteners either (I personally think stevia is okay but that's up to you). It will be tough for a little while, but I think you will find that you will crave sweets A LOT less, because your body will be full of good, healthy foods! And then once your cravings stop, you can slowly add a little bit of added sugar here and there.

Good luck! I know you can do it! :)

I think they're a waste of money (like $2 for a can!), taste awful, and have a lot of chemicals in them. Once in a while is fine for sure, but I think a daily habit could get you addicted to the mix of caffiene and sugar and whatnot. I would say drink coffee (in moderation of course :]) or eat complex carbs that will give you lots of natural energy! :)

Thanks! I took your advice and went to the doctor, who had never seen an allergic reaction to mango before (?) but prescribed a low dose steroid and cortisone cream and all that stuff. Foods Please don't let Splenda products fool you. Nov 22 2008

It's a logical fallacy to conclude that because one event happened after another, the first event caused the second. So it's possible that the artificial sweeteners caused those side effects, but it's also possible that they didn't.

Personally I have been cutting waaay back on artificial sweetners so that I all I have is the occasional packet of splenda in my coffee (I usually use stevia). I found that "sugar free" food products never satisfied me and just left me craving junk. :/
