good job on the breastfeeding. it burns 500 calories a day on average, and as your baby gets older your body will make more milk, burning more calories. and you've also taken off about a pound a week since january, a good rate. pat yourself on the back, mama! if you drop your calories too much your milk production will drop. i'd bump up the exercise, which will re-rev your metabolism. stay hydrated too, lots of fresh water! i got a great book from the library a year or two ago called "lose your mummy tummy", cant remember who it was by but the info seemed sound. talks about postpartum weight loss. there's also mommy and me classes some places offer where you use the baby as a weight. some women do keep an extra 5-10 pounds while they are breastfeeding in fat reserves and breast tissue that comes off when you wean, but the benefits in health for the baby and for you, like dropping your breast cancer risk, make it worthwhile to keep it up for a year or two at least. |
