Hi everyone;

I hurt my back last week - haven't check in in awhile. I GAINED!!! Oh man - what a bummer. But I kind of thought it was going to happen because not only have I been unable to exercise, I've pretty much been confined to the couch...my husband has been picking up pizza and fast food. I was at least hoping to stay the same though. I gained 1.4 lbs. Niiice.

Oh well - I'm feeling better now - back a square one but really going to work hard this week and hopefully see some improvement!

Congrats everyone for all of the weight you've lost!!!

Hi coffee;

I've read that your body need 11 calories per pound. So basically you take your goal weight and multiply it by 11. That comes out to 1,672 per day. So I guess that's about right. I've wondered myself though because I was really hoping for more dramatic results seeing as how I've cut an absolute minimum of 500 calories per day and added 20 minutes of cardio every day. Yipes - I thought it would be falling off.

Having said that, my target calories per day (from this site) is 1500 - and sometimes I eat that but more often than not, at the end of the day I'm somewhere between 1200 and 1300 and I call it good if I'm not super hungry.

Must be full moon or something - I'd always heard that when a diet is started, a person loses the fastest in the first couple of weeks. I'm disappointed but as I said before, I'm in it for the long haul so as long as I'm losing something, I'm good with it.

Does anyone know how to start a new post within our group? It looks like the 'group' part of the site isn't operational yet.

Current: 144.4

Congrats Renee!!! And hey - we all saw some loss which is much better than the alternative!

Great going!

I think we just need to find what works for us. It's our first week!!! We'll figure it out. I'm not going to worry about the weigh-in tomorrow either.

Hello again;

I just read over the advice posted earlier. The breakfast part is tough. I'm sure it increases metabolism but it also makes me hungrier!!! A lot hungrier! I do eat breakfast but not until about 9:00 even though I'm awake at 6:00. If I eat at 6 or 7 am than by 9:00 I'm absolutely starving and I eat again...I've found that half my calories for the day are gone by noon that way.

Anyone else experience the same thing?

Thanks WVallie;

I am doing a little bit better with being hungry but I had to switch some things around. It's not easy when my husband isn't dieting. I was doing great during the day but trying to 'save up' calories for a bigger evening meal with the family. My husband's turn to cook was full of such fatty foods that I ended up only being able to eat a tiny portion. He needs some education and I have to give it gently (I don't want to lose him as a cook!) but yikes...the 2nd time he cooked that week he made fish and chips. Is there anythign is the world more fattening? Ha!

Things really are better though - I'm eating a snack right before I go home from work so I don't walk in the door famished and eat too much.

Thanks for the advice!

Thank you! You've been added as a friend!

You're right - it's too early to get discouraged. I'm in this for the long haul and not the quick weight loss. I guess I've just made drastic changes and was hoping for drastic results right away.

So - I don't think I shared my 'stats'. I'm 5'4" and I'm at 145 lbs. right now. I have a 2-part goal, the first getting back down - somewhere between 128-132 lbs. The second part of the goal is to be able to exercise again. I've got some arthritis in my back and hips - way more than I should have at my age (I'm 38) but it runs in my family (thanks grandma!) so I'm stuck with it. However, I KNOW that I'd be able to exercise more with less pain if I wasn't carrying around this extra 15 or so pounds.

As a side note - I'm not even completely sure what my actual weight is. When I went to the doc last month, it was 154 lb. I started the diet last week but didn't get a scale until a few days later and my first weight was 144 lbs. Huge difference! But as I said earlier, the weight has been climbing so maybe my scale is a dud.

Okay - well - weigh in tomorow, eh? Good luck!

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to figure out how ot add you all as friends. I think I just started at the 'wrong' time of the month. Geez. I started out Monday at one weight and have done very well on the diet - I've been under my number of calories (except for one day) and have exercised 5 days. I could NOT believe that my weight had gone up!! So that's why I was so discouraged. I think stay away from the scale for another week and then see what happens.

Good luck everyone - have a great day!

I need motivation already! Does anyone know when this gets easier? I'm hungry ALL of the time - it's crazy! I'm just wondering if it ever gets easy!

Hi there - I started on the 18th as well. I'd lost 3 lbs but then gained back 1.5. It's not easy!!! I'm 5'4" and my goal weight is 130lbs. I'm feeling a bit discouraged but maybe we can support one another.

Hi everyone;

I just started with this program this week. I did well every day but last night we had goood-bye party for a co-worker and I totally blew it. I'd lost 3 lbs. this first week this morning had gained 1/2 of it back. That is totally depressing. I've been about 1350 cals. every day and it's been tough - I feel hungry just about ALL of the time. Yipes. The scale going down made it all worth it. Now today when I'd gained back 1.5 lbs, I'm feeling pretty down. I should've been more prepared as to what to eat and drink at the restaurant I guess- it was Mexican food and I wasn't sure what would be the lower calorie/fat content so between the pre-dinner chips and salsa and the margaritas I ended up with 2100 calories yesterday. Talk about totally blowing it.

My question is, does this get easier or will I feel hungry all of the time for the rest of my life?
