Check with your doctor on that because I was told not to drink any juices that are red colored, only apple and white grape. Go ahead and drink all the chicken broth you want. Yes it's a lot of sodium, but it's just one day. It won't kill you. Maybe ask if you can drink those protein fortified waters. They didn't have those out yet when I had mine done.

I did get pretty hungry but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I pretty much forgot all about it once the prep started working and I was in unimaginable pain from it. I have not heard of that happening to anyone else though, even from people who used the exact same prep and have the same condition I have, so I think it was just me. Seriously they had better come up with a different way to do it by the time I am in my 50's or I just won't be getting them, because I seriously thought I was going to die. Compared to that the actual procedure was absolutely fine. Afterwards I felt a little sleepy but otherwise great, and I ate a ton. I couldn't even tell anything had been done.

Health & Support 2nd or 3rd degree burn? Apr 25 2008

Thanks! I have a non-stick bandage on it because it's in an area where it would be getting rubbed by my clothing otherwise. I didn't think it was too bad of a burn but it sure looks nasty so I was starting to worry a little.

I get a feeling like that in the same areas and it kind of feels like mild electric shocks. I believe it's from my sciatic nerve.

I have a daughter who currently lives full time with her dad, but I raised her myself until she finished the 1st grade. I have SO much more time now than I did before. Despite having a second job I have tons more time, and despite paying child support and not getting a very good deal on my taxes I also have tons more disposeable income, partly because I'm able to have a second job, something there wasn't any way for me to do before.

I would be lying if I said it's not much much easier to live healthy as a single person. If I want to eat fish five nights a week I can. I don't have to worry about whether or not my kid will eat it (I wouldn't even have asked her to since she hates fish and it would be tantamount to cruel and unusual punishment), and I can *afford* it what's more. I can go excercise anytime I want and not have to worry about whether there's anyone who can watch her. I don't have to plan out my time around her school/childcare schedule. I can get a full night's sleep much more easily. I can go get a pedicure to reward myself, or shop for workout clothes.

So I guess I'm not a super mom. Oh well. It's worth noting that I'm not one of those people who can do fine on 5 hours of sleep a night. I need 8-9 hours minimum or I'm fairly worthless. When I've asked single moms who work, go to school, runs marathons, cook all their meals from scratch and freeze them, etc. where they get the time to do these things, I find that most often they are not sleeping much at all.

Well, studies have shown that 30 minutes of moderate excercise a day is all you really need for good cardiovascular health. I guess if that is impossible or very difficult for you then you would be out of shape.

Oh yeah, I did see supersize me a  long time ago and i laughed at the guy for throwing up after eating a value meal because I could eat one of those as a snack and go back for more, well at least I could at the time. I don't know, I wasn't really that impressed with it. I just thought the guy was a priviledged pansy. I know what it does to you because I used to eat that way all the time, and though I was heavier I was still quite healthy.

I don't eat fast food much, if at all, anymore though since I can't tolerate dairy, fried food, or red meat anymore. Makes it kind of pointless.

I don't have a lot of junk food in the house, but I'll eat whatever is here. Like tonight I ate 3/4 of a pint of soy ice cream, 8 of those Mexican marshmallow cookies and a handfull of vanilla wafers. Ugh, it was like 800-900 calories alltogether.  Normally I don't have a problem just having one serving and leaving the rest alone, it's only when I eat out. I don't have any alcohol either. I'm not a big drinker so that wasn't a big deal for me to just not do anymore. I just get water.

I wonder if part of the problem is because when we go out I don't log my foods for that day. I have tried to in the past but it just became an excercise in frustration. We eat at a lot of hole-in-the-wall places that don't have nutrition info and the foods they serve are not the kind of thing I can ever find an equivilent to online (like fusion and vegan food), so I kind of view it as a free day, but I still try to be concious of making good choices and try not to go overboard. And while I am not setting out to eat a lot of junk on those days it seems to happen most of the time anyway. It's so frustrating because I don't even klnow why I do it really. It's like once I get started I have a very hard time stopping.

Oh man! I have big breakfasts. They usually have lots of protein in them though. I love the days I work later because I have time to cook a big hot breakfast. My favorite is some style of of eggs, soy sausage, fruit, and either pancakes, waffles, french toast or an English muffin. My breakfasts are always at least 350 calories, but I aim for 400-450. It's a long time before I can have lunch sometimes. The days I work early, which is unfortunately most of the time, I take some combintion Luna bars, sandwiches made on English muffins with egg salad or soy sausage with cheese, fruit, yogurt, soy milk, sometimes a high fiber muffin or something, and I eat them on the bus on the way in.

Lately I've been taking a hard boiled egg, mashing it up with a tablespoon of fat free mayo and a dash of salt and pepper, and making a sandwich with a multigrain 100 calorie English muffin. I can make two or three at a time and wrap them in foil so all I have to do is grab one out of the fridge. I've also made sandwiches with the english muffin, a Gimme Lean "sausage" patty, and a slice of soy cheese (I'm lactose intolerant but I'm sure regular cheese would work just fine too) and then I microwave it for 45 seconds in the morning. I make these the night before or a few at a time also. And Luna bars are good. Lots of flavors and lots of protein and calcium.

Physical: Really doesn't matter. Seriously. Tall, short, thin, fat, pale, dark, hairy, smooth, whatever. As long as the personality is good then I have no problems with physical attraction.

Personality: These attributes are more or less set in stone. Must be: pro-choice, does not believe in stereotypical gender roles, athiest or agnostic, does not want children (very important because I can't have any and don't want to adopt), is not racist or bigoted in any way, sexually open minded, monogamous, kind, confident

I'm lactose intolerant. Soy cheese is fine. I mean I like it. I've heard that too about people who eat the same thing, but it's getting to where I don't even want to eat it, and there's too much fast food nearby for me to be taking lunches I don't want to eat.

Weight Loss Would you rather lose lbs or £s/$s? Mar 20 2008

Healthy living costs more, and it's not just the food, though that's part of it. It costs more to eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day, plus lean proteins, whole grains, etc. than to eat a box of Kraft dinner every night. You also need more varied cooking utensils, measuring cups, maybe a scale, and if you don't already have them you have to buy those too. Then there's the new clothes when your old clothes don't fit. Workout clothes and shoes. Even if you can find the clothes used, it's not good for your feet to wear used athletic shoes, and good ones aren't cheap. Hell, I'm even doing an extra load of laundry every week just from my workout clothes. Now maybe if you were eating at restaurants a lot before, and doing expensive leisure activities instead of working out, then maybe it would cost you less. And as far as saved medical expenses, not for me. None of my medical conditions are in anay way weight related. Maybe when I'm 60 it will make a difference, but not right now.

I never eat red meat. I can't stand it. Tonight I'm having blackened tilapia with corn on the cob and asparagus. Last night I had a thin crust pizza with soy cheese and lots of vegetables. What else? Teriyaki prawns, soft tacos made with Boca burger crumbles, cornmeal crusted sole, baked salmon...

Don't feel guilty. What's done is done, and in the grand scheme of things it's not THAT much food. Next time you can freeze them in a storage bag and then when you want one just take one out and let it thaw at room temperature for half an hour.
