| Foods | Peanut butter bad? | Mar 08 2009 20:02 (UTC) |

i cant live without peanut butter. i stir it into oats for a hearty breakfast or recently i discovered the beauty of mixing a tblsp into some plain fat free yogurt with a little sugar sub- it adds more protien and carbs to balance the fat (though it is healthy fat) and it gives you a big tasty bowl of peanut butter flavor. |

basically, i agree with everyone but i wanted to show my support and tell you he was a damn pig! so f that you deserve better and theres probably thousands of better guys out there than him. you look and sound like a nice girl and your young, youve got plenty to give and will be happy. guys like that, on the other hand, dont change. and hell be lucky to ever find a woman to put up with that and if he does she wont be worth anyones attention anyway. so anyways, youll be down for a while, sure, but most people find they bounce back to normal alot faster than they predicted they would after a break up. try new things. when im upset i like to just go for walks, with or without my dog, ill put on some head phones and drive to a nice forest preserve or park and enjoy the sun. best wishes to you sweetheart |

stay away from fat before you work out- have carbs and/or protien. a cup of skim milk and a peice of bread maybe. or some yogurt and a piece of fruit |

| Fitness | Do you count this as an activity?!? | Feb 25 2009 21:41 (UTC) |
|
thebest way to go is to set your stats as sedentary and then add this activity and anything else you do aside sitting or laying around or relaxing. if you are set for light activity or anything else, dont include this becasue even light activity calculates for a few hours of standing and light walking around and what not |

| Motivation | My problem is that i have to eat a cheat-meal like every 10 days !! | Feb 24 2009 19:35 (UTC) |

your not a binge eater, you just have cravings- totally normal. you do need to eat more, but dont sweat that pancake even a drop cos your body needs it. i verymuch doubt that it sets you back what-so-ever. allow yourself more food and more cheat meals. if pancakes are a weakness fr you think about having pancakes on sunday mornings or something. if you have it in the morning you can still burn off those carbs, and you can certainly treat yourself once a weak. and ya, laxatives arent goingto do anything for you but empty your bowels, which is not a real weight loss, just temporary and its not a healthy habit either. |

does the machine ask your stats? wieght age and/ or gender, ect? if it does- count on that, if not id just use the site you trust the most, as long as the site calculates the activity for your stats, not just a general calorie burn. if i have a dilema like that i use an average between what i find. sometimes i use the lower guess just to be safe |

| Weight Loss | REALLY SWEET craving after my dinner....?? | Feb 23 2009 01:55 (UTC) |
|
could be a dip in energy, alot of people getthat at night or in the evening. make sure the foods you eatat dinner are energizing. also, it may be from a spike in blood sugar, maybe not, but its a small possibility. if you consume too many calories at dinner or too much of your daily intake at once, you can find yourself craving even more. mayeb if you eat a little more for breakfast or ealrlier in the day your energy will stay up and you can cut a few calories for dinner. it is recommended to get 60-70 % of your calories at breakfast and lunch, and snacks if applicable before dinner. your dinner is so early though! make sure you snack after or else you might feel deprived |

thats okay, but your losing out on alot of nutrition. most of the fiber of a veggie or fruit also comes from its skin, so itd try to eat if i were you, but if you dont like it, you dont like it, sweet potatoes are still nutritious either way. |

| Weight Loss | Help!! How many calories?!?! | Feb 23 2009 00:02 (UTC) |

go with about 1800, a safe and definite deficit is supposed to be 500, with a 500 cal deficit you are the most likely to loose and keep it off once you return to maintenance |

| Weight Loss | 5'7 145lbs want to change | Feb 22 2009 21:55 (UTC) |

dont aim to loose weight, aim to loose fat and gain some muscle. id never recommenda video like that over good old dumbell excersizes, but if you really want to do it, ya youll see some results, but only if you do it as much as your supposed to, and push yourself your hardest. you COULD get down to 132 but dont. youll be too thin, and skinny-fat more than likely. your weight is fine, dont use the scale to judge yourself, use the mirror. a balance ball is more likely to tone your body rather than add thickness or muscle to your legs. but hey, dont fret over big legs and butt, its a good thing for a girl. looks good, shows your strong, and what girl doesnt want a booty? |

| Weight Loss | How to know if you're in starvation mode | Feb 22 2009 14:07 (UTC) |
18 |
how old are you hun? if you are under 21, id say add about 200 cals a day. whether its high or low. the zig zagging is fine but id do something more like: 3 days low cal, and the high day a bit higher, like 2500 if you excersize. Alot of people underestimate their cal burn becasue if you work out alot and have good muscle, you burn more calories than most people. my high days are around 2800, but im also only 19. if you find yourself not getting hungry at all, you may be in starvation. try to delay one meal until you get hungry, if you dont get hungry, up your calories. I know you probably eat so often you just dont have time to get hungry, but try that to see if your appetite is still there. if you dont get hungry you are probably in starvation mode becasue your bodydoesnt think its going to get food, so doesnt bother getting hungry. if its not starvation it is just a plateau, which is more than possible. you may have been doing this routine of yours so long that your body expects it and is used to it. in that case, try some new cardio, like the stairclimber or spinning(if you have a gym that offers classes), ect. another way to bust a plateau is to take a week off from the gym, your actually supposed to every three months at least, in order to keep your body suprised. eat just a tad under maintenance for a week or just like five days and dont work out. if your like most people, youll actually lose weight that week as well becaseu your body is still burning all those cals and recovering. when i do this i loose a little bit without doing anything. do stay somewhat active though- like little walks, ect. |

| Weight Loss | What is a good breakfast? | Feb 12 2009 04:42 (UTC) |

every single weekday i have the same thing- it gets me through 4 hours of classes without getting hungry: 1/2 cup old fashioned oats cooked with water, mix in 1 tblsp peanut butter- creamy and delicious plus 1/2 a grapefruit, sliced, mixed with fat free cottage cheese or yogurt with a little cinnamon and nutmeg ~enough good carbs for fuel and energy, lots of vitamin C from the grapefruit and sustaining fat and protien |

| Weight Loss | Opinions on my Analysis | Feb 12 2009 01:01 (UTC) |

thats not enough food. or fat. your only eating about 1400 calories, right? unless you really are sedentary, up it at least one or two hundred. your setting yourself up for some food issues. fat controls appetite and cravings, keeps your heart and brian healthy, and your body regular. eat more and keep at least 20-25% fat, new studies even show that 35% fat can result in fat loss. your protien intake is good though. carbs are okay unless you work out, than your going to need more in order to fuel your body. studies have shown that reduction of carbs aids in weight loss better than fat restriction. not to mention studies than reducing fat too much, like this in a diet can result in binging and overeating. it may take three weeks or a month or two to happen, but your body is going to respond poorly if you dont up your food and fat intake. |

if your not giving into cravings trhat week it is just water. forget it. dont weigh yourself until two days after your period stops, its discouraging and not a real wieght, just water. thats why so many things advertise about bloating during your period- its a fact but it goes away. just one more fabulous thing about being a woman... |

by the way i agree with happinesswhereartthou, you do look nice how you are, i know it can be frustarting when you work so hard to still have problem areas but you do look good. dont stress so much, if you are prone to any kind of obsessiveness thinkijng about the bad side is not a good idea, focus on how far you've come. whether it is fat, loose skin, or bloating, it will pass. by the way- just thought of this- if i were you trying to figure out if it is bloat or not id set one day to reduce sodium alot and flush out my body with water and cranberry juice or pills. drink some coffee and tea too. all these things flush out water, so keep sodium at a low- but never below 500 mg and flush out. weigh yourself the next morning after you take your morning bathroom trip and see what happens. you can retain up to eight pounds of water in your body. |

| Health & Support | Really worried... | Feb 12 2009 00:43 (UTC) |

if you feel bloated or cant suck your tummy in its probably water retention, youll know if its that becasue you will feel the swell- if it feels normal like just your normal stomach it may be a little ab fat. you need to eat more. i eat 2200 cals a day and im a female and a cashier, not too strenuous work. i work out alot but you may workout even more than me. you should upto a solid 2800. and keep up your fat intake. there is an awful misconception that restricting calories from fat and grams of fat taken in evey day will result in fat loss. it wont. and it will hurt your heart and your health and result in cravings and loss of appetite control. get a MINIMUM of 20% of your intake from fat, they say healthy ranges can be from 20-35% though. There have been studies proving that limiting carbohydrates will result in more fat loss than fat restriction as a matter of fact. Not eating healthy fats will make you retain more fat ironically. get some olive oil in your diet, its tasty good for you and has been shown to help reduction in appetite and belly fat. same for nuts- peanuts and almonds are great choices. |

| Weight Loss | how much could I lose? | Feb 12 2009 00:35 (UTC) |
|
if you have just started dieting and excersizing you can expect to loose two or three lbs a week, but after a week or two it will be about 2 lbs a week, and in a month or so it will start to get a little harder. they say 2 lbs a week is healthy and possible but the more used to working out and healthy foods your body gets the harder it becomes to loose. I eat very well and work out intensely four to six days a week, i eat 5-6 meals a day and do everything right, but ive been doing it so long i cant loose a damn pound. your young so make sure you are eating enough to support your activity. at least 1700 cals and at least 1800 or 2000 if you have a really good workout and you can prob expect a pound or two a week on average. |

its just mental. you like spicy and crunchy foods, it hits the spot- everyone has theri weaknesses. i like nutty and creamy (also a very unnutritous craving) but you dont need chips and salsa. just stopeating them. or do it in moderation. i think it might help to explore other crunchy spicy combos like baby carrots with extra spicy hummus. or you could have some crunchy chicken. dip really thinly sliced chicken in egg and then bread crumbs mixed with cayenne or whatever spicey spice you wanna use and bake it in the oven. its not extremely healthy but it has good points unlike tthe emptiness of chips. salsa is actually really good for you, its just veggies, minus a slightl;y high sodium, so try salsa on different things. personlaly i will put salsa on my eggs with some chili powder for a simple mexican style egg breakfast or i use salsa on salad instead of dressing. its really good with a crunchy salad with black beans and corn with some taco seaoned chicken. anyways... it hasnothing to do with vitiman deficiency. our bodies dont crave bad food when we need nutrition. they just crave food in general. make sure your eating enough and healthy variety. try yourself to a big bowl of chips and salsa once a week, like sunday or something. dont tell yourself you cant haveit though, cos then youll want it worse |

| Fitness | Building Muscle | Feb 04 2009 18:08 (UTC) |

ive heard the same- you need a surplus, blah blah blah. but i did it on a deficit. i made huge changes in my body before ever learning about that theory. my maintainence is probably around 2200 or so on a somewhat active day, i used to do cardio and lift almost every day and ate about 1700 and lost fat, gained muscle. im not recommending that though, that was before i knew about starvation and all that jazz, i eat more now, but i did build alot of muscle when i started, eating at a deficit. id say its very possible, but try to eat pretty close to maintenance, id recommend a deficit of like 200 or 300, making sure you add in your activity. heavy lifting burns alot of calories. most importantly, eat alot of protien, especially on a deficit to gain muscle. never go below one gram of protein per lb of bodyweight. hope that helps! |

if your cooking for a few people(family or bf/ husband) cook some mac and cheese- cut the butter out of the insturctions and use skim milk and brown up the beef and mix it in, if you have peas and carrots frozen or in a can drain them and mix them in, or you can add a can of tomatoes or any veggies you think will work, i love it witha frozen peas and carrots mix. it makes about four big servings and its a lover cal way to enjoy mac and cheese and make one box go a long way. one tip though- if you dont eat ground turkey iod suggest tryin it instead of beef- its cheaper and much leaner. |

aboutt he cinnamon debate-- do you guys really count the calories in spices?? all speces have a small amount of calories but becasue they all come fromthe ground and are natural it is a healthy way to add flavor- dont be afraid of 17 calories. without spices i think id rather starve than eat. imagine no cinnamon or basil or parsely, ugh no way. plus, for the calories cinnamon has a good amount of fiber and nutrients |

CRANBERRY juice! drink a lot of it- it is proven to clear out your ut and its good for you too. like coffee or alchohol cranberry juice takes more fluid out of you than it puts in (i.e.- it makes you pee alot) so it will clear you out. if your worried about the calories or sugar in juice- get cranberry pills, its just extract and it has the same effect, but drink a lot of water so it can help get the fluid through you |
