Good Morning!!

I weighed in yesterday, and I didn't lose last week. Maybe a mixture of that darn TOM and all the salty food I ate in response to my TOM madwoman cravings. At least it wasn't a gain, and I didn't go too far off my plan.

Today is a new day!! I took my son for a walk downtown. It's my day off and we usually just play around the house, but the weather is so nice today. He really enjoyed it and I think he'll be ready for a looooong nap!!

I have decided that I will have a "cheat" meal once every two weeks as a reward. I too am ADDICTED to fast food. Before I gave myself a kick in the pants, we were eating fast food for dinner or lunch two or three days a week. (and I mean whopper with cheese king sized fries please kind of fast food) So, I am making a promise to myself to eat a fast food lunch or dinner if I can stay on my plan for two weeks at a time.  Maybe that's silly, but if I know that I CAN have that cheeseburger later, I won't break down every other day and get one!!

I really do feel better about myself. I am wearing a pair of jeans that I couldn't button a month ago!! yipee

You can have fast food, just not a value meal! Dedicate to yourself that if you desire something from a fast food place to only have one item. Get just the burger or just the fries and never get the shake or soda. If you eat fast food in this way, it is pretty easy to stay within your daily calorie intake. It is when you eat the burger AND the fries AND the shake that you are looking at 2500 calories in one meal! Also, go that the fast food place's website and check out the calories and plan what you will order before you will go. You can probably put together a meal that keeps you on track with your daily calories.

Absolutely rdneckwife!  I had Pizza Hut pizza last night and do so once every other week or so.  You are more likely to stick to a diet if you still get to enjoy things you love every now and then.  I have been treating myself with foods I love once a week or once every two weeks from the start and I have lost 55 lbs.  It works and helps you stay on track as long as you get right back on your diet after and don't get carried away.  I don't even feel like I'm on a diet really, and I'm doing great.

I also find low-calorie alternatives to my favorite foods to stop the cravings.  Like chocolate ice cream.  Fudgcycle makes a pretty good fudgcycle with only 40 calories a bar.  mmmmm

take a calcium pill instead

run in the morning to get it out of the way - I get on the eliptical for 30 minutes in the morning and have been for a while now.  I am now addicted to it and I hated excersise before.  I started out almost fainting after only 5 minutes.

Fudgcicle makes a sugar free ice cream bar that has only 40 calories...that's my chocolate/sweet fix. MMMM  Some chocolate flavored cereal is good too, if you stick to the serving size for it - and it will help with your milk intake!  Or you can eat it dry.  Try chocolate Chex!

Doctor actually recommended the frozen dinners to me.  She said that the sodium is a bit high, but if the rest of your diet is full of it, they are fine and really help with portion control.  It is cash control that stops me from getting them more often...It is cheaper to be fat!

I eat these every day for lunch.  If you go grab something at a fast food place, doesn't that cost more than the dinners?  I don't think 2 or 3 dollars is bad for lunch and I have lost 55 lbs and don't feel like I am dieting.  I think the frozen dinners are awesome!  I do choose the ones that are 200 calories or less, though!  I started out at 203 lbs and I now weight 148! woohoo.  I have told my doctor and dietitian about my frozen dinners and they think it is a great way to lose weight.  If you diet is too hard and too restrictive, then you are more likely not to stay on it.  I say, make it easy!  Smile

i run occasionally... i just like to make sure i'm drinking lots of water... and adding flavor definitely helps me drink more...

a product i found that i love is True Lemon.  I haven't found another product like it... it puts real lemon taste in my bottled water and it comes in convenient packets.  the best part is there are no sweeteners and no calories...

I use Replenish.  It is a great powder in convenient single serving packs that you can add to your bottled water.  It comes in Fruit Punch and Lemonade and actually tastes awesome.  It has 0 calories, 0 sugars, 0 carbs, and does contain 30 mg potassium and electrolytes.  The only place I am able to find it, though, is at the Super Walmarts.

I started watching what I eat in May, I was the same way. I LOVE FOOD!!! It is so hard!! My fiance loves it too and he is by no means changing his ways anytime soon, which is fine. He is perfect the way he is, and says the same thing about me. Which again I feel your frustration. I used to tell him to tell me I was fat, I hated when he said I was perfect the way I was. It was flattering at the time, but now that I have lost 40 lbs, I realize more now then before, he should have told me I needed to lose weight. It would have motivated me more. I got the motivation once we started planning our wedding, I realized I wanted to look good on my wedding day. I don't really have any secrets except before I put things in my mouth I think about if it is really worth it. I have stuck to a 1000 calorie a day diet. It works for me, I have tried Atkins, weight watchers, and lots of other things. I felt to restricted on all those other diets, but for some reason the 1000 calories a day works. I can still eat things I want in moderation, and substitute certain foods, so basically sometimes I feel like I am cheating when really I am not, cause it falls within the 1000 calories. I used to get on the stationary bike at our apartment complex a lot more then I do now. I also kept a calendar that fit in my purse, and once a week I would weigh myself to keep up with my progress. I would set month long goals instead of one big goal. Sometimes trying to meet a goal like 50 lbs all at once can be somewhat frusterating. So each month I would set a goal for like 8 lbs. It just seems more realistic the trying so hard to reach a big goal and only losing like 3 lbs. If you have a smaller goal, you tend to feel more accomplishment, which to me was very helpful. If I ever want fast food, I look online at the restaurants nutrition list. I think it is mandatory that they post it online. I haven't come accross one fast food place that doesn't have it on their website. I can still eat chik fil a and KFC and even Taco bell. It is awesome. Sometimes I don't even feel like I am on a diet. Give it a shot you might be suprised.

That is exactly how I lost 52 lbs since April 07! Only I get on the eliptical for 30 minutes every morning for the past month or so (walked  my dog 1 or 2 miles per day before that).  Isn't it great keeping track of your calories and realizing at the end of the day, you can get online check out the calories on some fast food places and add/remove items to make it meet your daily calorie intake goal for the day?  (Not that that stuff is healthy and I don't do it often, but it does make you feel like you are not on a diet).  I am also getting married!  April 6th 2008!  1 year since I began my diet.  I bought a wedding dress in July (a little tight, but size 16) and tonight I just said forget that dress and bought a size 10 that is so much prettier!!! Anyone want to buy a size 16 wedding dress?  LOL.

edit:  add name of person I am speaking to.

kaufmkk, you can still eat those things.  If you don't then one day you will cave and gorge yourself.  Just when you cut yourself that slice of cake, make it a small piece and eat it slowly savoring the flavor, then subract the calories from whatever you had planned on eating for dinner.  If you deprave yourself too much, you will give up!  It's a simple fact. (I wouldn't do it everyday of course, just when the craving is strong.)

You can definately do it!  I got up to 203 lbs and started my diet April last year. I am now down to 154 lbs! I started having problems such as pulling ligaments in my foot and hip pain.   The 1st time I got on the eliptical was for only 5 minutes and I almost fainted.  I gave up on that for a little while and decided to start out a little slower. So I got a dog and made a commitment to bring her on a 1 to 2 mile walk every evening after work.  I educated myself online on how many calories are in everything especially fast food.  All fast food places have a website that tell you exactly how many calories are in thier foods.  Read labels.  Stick to actual portion sizes.  You may read on a product that it has only 100 calories, but how many servings are in the package?  Count your calories that you eat every day to stay on track.  I cannot eat a large lunch and then a small dinner like experts suggest.  What happens is I would eat the large lunch, then come home and not be able to resist eating dinner with  my family.  So I keep my calories down during the day so that I can enjoy dinner with my family without depraving them or myself.  I eat about 100 to 170 calories for breakfast, 140 to 200 calories for lunch (Smart Ones, Lean Cuisine are awesome & filling) so then I have up to 600 calories I can eat for dinner.  You can pretty much eat whatever you want as long as you keep your daily calorie intake below a certain number and stick to actual portion sizes.  This way, you don't feel like you are dieting and tempted to give up because it is too hard.  Once I started losing weight and getting exercise by walking, I got back on the eliptical.  Here is my trick.  I do it in the morning.  I kept finding myself making excuses after work NOT to get on it.  In the morniing, I get it out of the way and tell myself that if I am going to get up this much earlier, it will not be for nothing and it motivates me.  This way you get that excercise out of the way and don't have to worry about it the rest of the day.  It also helps to increase your metabolism when you do it in the mornings instead.  I now am proud to say that instead of 5 minutes on it and almost fainting, I can now do 30 to 45 minutes on settings 5 & 6.  I ususally do 30 minutes every morning while watching news or tv or music and actally enjoy it.  It is my "me time".  I am now starting to do strength exercises as well because muscle burns more calories.  49 lbs later and I feel wonderful.  16 more lbs to go to reach my goal!  I can't wait!  Went from a size 18 to now a 10!  IF I CAN DO IT WITH THE PROBLEMS AND ACHES AND PAINS I HAD, YOU CAN DO IT TOO!!!!!!!

Girl, that's easy!!! Smart Ones and Lean Cuisine make some awesome frozen lunches and I always choose the ones that are 200 calories or less.  Some are only 140 calories!  Filling too!!  I eat one everyday for lunch at work. Already pre-portioned and tells you how many calories in it.  No thought involved.  Like I said - easy!!
