Hi, I'm Josette. I want to lose weight to get healthy- high blood pressure runs in my family, and I understand that being overwight is going to eventually take its toll on my body. I also want to lose weight to feel better about myself. I don't remember a time where I wasn't pudgy or overweight, and it embarrasses me. My wake up call? I've had a few of those. I'm not new to weight loss, but I fell off the wagon big time. There was one point where losing weight seemed pretty unimportant compared to whatever else was going on. My most recent wake up call was yesterday, when I dared to step on the scale. I discovered that I'm nearly 200 pounds. I hate the feeling of having no control when I overeat or choose to be inactive, so here I am, fighting for control again. I'm really excited to see a group like this! Good luck to everyone

I am going to have to go on here like everyday- I seem unable to control my weight otherwise, I swear! At Health Class the other day, we all calculated how many calories we should be eating and I got- get ready for this- over 2,700. I really must not be growing anymore because I start gaining weight if I'm eating 1800+ (with no exercise). Let's all get ourselves on track, I guess! |

It's been ages since I was in here! Things have been so rough lately that I put health on a back burner. Ate whatever, exercised only occasionally. I have been so unmotivated lately, because my weight was the last thing on my mind. It has not occurred to me how easy it is to build healthy habits. It's mostly the scare tactics and grossouts of Health 100 class, I think. The other day the teacher passed around tubes of saturated fat

Things are starting to get under control again I had a great lunch today... onion, bell pepper, 2 tsp Habanero sauce, 2 ounces of pork and a little tomato. It was heaven. Even better, stir-fry for supper, and my mother is helping out by omitting rice tonight as she knows I am a fiend for it. It doesn't add up to enough calories, so I guess I'll have to snack *sighs dramatically* What a drag, lol. As an aside, I'm getting jaw surgery (I do not know when at this time) and I will have to have my jaw wired or screwed shut to prevent movement for a while. Not being able to chew, I'll have to drink my meals for that time, and was wondering if Ensure or Carnation would be good options? Good to see you guys are all doing so great! Keep it up, and have a good day! |

I had planned the calories for today and was worried about going over, and I just added it up, and... Just over 1,000. This is with pound cake for dessert. I have no idea what happened, but apparently I am not as good at estimating as I thought... lol... Good day otherwise. Hope you guys are all doing good :)

Still staying away from the scale... My eating's been erratic, going between perfect and maintence. Today was a great day- picked up my 5 pound weights and did some reps, finding out that most of my muscle is still there, which thrilled me. My calves are as muscley as they were after band camp, haha. Overall, today's been motivating. I ate a good breakfast- usually I overdo it, but today was just right. Lunch, a salad with croutons and some turkey, and non-fat milk. I had two mini-suppers- onions and potato, then eggs and toast. I then had Cool-Whip (I strongly reccomend frozen Cool-Whip for a sweet snack). And I got my grades in the mail... and discovered, to my delight, I've got nothing under a B- so far. Usually, I'm lacking in the math department- but I had a B-! Must be all this calorie-counting keeping me sharp Glad to see you all doing so well! Have a good night all! |

Gay Marriage: I'm totally for it. Marry who you love. Abortion: Pro-choice, but I believe it's circumstantial. Obama: If I were old enough, I'd vote for him (I have no clue why this is italicized) Mccain: I do not like him and I would never vote him, he is bad news. Jesus: I believe in him (sorry for the random slanted sentences, I have no idea why this is happening >:( ) Evolution :I don't know. Global Warming :It's a lost cause to try and stop it now. George W.:Eh... not great. Sex Before Marriage: I'm fine with it; I see marriage as optional nowadays. The Drinking Age: It's fine where it is, I guess. Pot: I don't smoke it but for the people who do, why punish them? The War: It's no good but it's out of our hands. Meat: Is rather tasty. Tattoos: I would love some. The Devil: Alive and kicking. Ghosts:I believe in them. Aliens: Are possible... the universe IS rather big. Censorship:Lame; show us as it was meant to be. Magic: Fun to watch. Love:Scary. Religion: I don't believe in organized religion, but rather go on what I believe personally.

Hey, everyone. I feel oddly unmotivated right now; I feel like I'll never be able to lose weight. It was extremely discouraging to be at 166 and then, after upping calories to LOSE, I went up almost 10 pounds. How is that even possible? In theory, an increase of 300 calories with exercise, while also being a teenager, that should have kick started my weight loss. I don't get it. My doctor is suggesting it could be my thyroid. In any event, I had blood drawn for that yesterday; I'll find out soon enough. Not to be a downer or anything, lol. EDIT I just read over my post and it seems really pathetic. It looks pretty backward that I should stop my journey to lose weight because of some gain. I'll go back to what was working initially. It now all makes sense. Alright. I'll leave this post alone now, haha. Have a good night, all |

I'm actually getting a few tests done this Thursday, one of which will be checking my thyroid. At first I didn't think anything of it, but then I realized this could be the cause of my depression, my low tolerance for cold weather, and my GAIN after upping my cals to what should be ideal for a teen looking to lose weight. It's a good idea to have it checked, at any rate. Even if you have the slightest notion that there may be a problem. |

Hi everyone :D I'm stuck, but it appears to be because of the... monthly gift >:( . Better water than fat, I guess! I am building up all this great muscle in my arms, abs, legs. I can't see it in my abs (can definitely feel it though) but it's really noticable and I'm thrilled to see it. Anyone ever try Jillian Michaels 20 minute workout? I have them on OnDemand. They are very, very hard but it burns so many calories, AND, as an added bonus, uses resistence training, so it builds muscle, too! *is greatful for Exercise TV OnDemand* I tried on a size 9 pair of pants that are kind of a goal for me to fit in. Last time I tried them on (couple months or so), I struggled to get them over my thights, and was practically panting with effort. They were way to small. Today, they were fine up until the zipper. But I was grinning ear to ear- despite the gain from 165 pounds to 172, it seems I am losing inches, still. Those pants really made my day, I'll admit. Have a nice evening, all :D

It's great that you are able to be so honest and straightforward about this. Even better that you can see what's wrong and have an idea what to do. I've purged off and on for a while, and the hardest part is resisting the urge. It really, really helps to have something to do right after you eat, like maybe do the dishes, do homework, engage in conversation- anything that will hold your attention long enough and keep you interested. That helps me a lot. Your plan is very good. I wish you nothing but the best and I hope my advice is helpful. |

k9- That's what I'm starting to push myself towards, good health. I realize now that numbers are great but I what I need is to be healthy while losing weight. A delicate balance lady- I'm much healthier than last year. I marched 4 miles the other day for marching band, went to a fair, then walked another 4 miles home. Last year, I wouldn't have even been able to march 1 mile, let alone 4. It really feels good to look at it like that! I just ate 4 pieces of chicken, two cups of rice pilaf and some string beans. Maybe this is my long desired growth spurt coming up... lol. I walked two miles with my little brother today. I wanted to walk more... but it started raining. The walk was pretty brisk already because of all those mosquitoes (there's west nile in my area). Tae-Bo sounds pretty good right now, actually. Are the online estimites accurate in saying about 700-800 calories per hour are burned? I really hope so. It sure feels like it! Well, that's all for now. I hope you are all doing well! Have an awesome evening. |

Sorry I've not been around... I'm still a little bummed with the weight. Though, at my physical today, the Doctor was very pleased, because I've grown half an inch and lost about 20 pounds since last year. So, I guess all there is to do is run and jump back on the wagon. I need to pick up the exercise, because I'm getting lazy again, and I need to eat healthier and not drench things with olive oil. Nice to see you are all doing so well! You guys are by far the best motivation around! |

Somehow I am in the 170's again. I don't even want to know how this happened. I exercise, making sure to switch it up, I eat a decent amount of calories- I'm really, really hoping it's mostly muscle (band camp... surprisingly strenuous). All I have to say to that is BAH.

Hello everyone, hope all is going well! I've tried this before (upping calories) and it works. Except I got greedy and lowered my calories from 1300-1600, which I guess is unsuitable for a teen. So, since I want to be healthy and I like to eat, I've started upping again. Always, I gain the first couple weeks, so I prefer not stepping on the scale too much. Once a week, that's it. I find that to burn lots of calories in a relatively short amount of time, Tae-Bo is great. I needed to find a good exercise since I was lessening the deficit created by cutting calories, and Tae-Bo is really, really fun. Again, I hope this is going good for you all! |
