It IS just in your head...I'd love to be where you're at.  We're almost the same height and 149 is less than my goal weight, so I'm positive that you look great!  Just pick up a tube of Jergens Natural Glow Firming to take care of the pale wiggly bits that I'm sure are really only noticeable to you. :)

Great advice! a spray tan or self tanner before you go on vacation will make you look skinnier and feel sexier! Believe me, it makes a difference and is worth the money!

Beg to differ -- age absolutely matters in how much you should weigh and what kind of calorie restriction you should attempt if you want to stay healthy while you're at it.

If you are under 25, then you need to accommodate the fact that your body is still growing and so being at the high end of or even slightly over a healthy BMI is less relevant than post-25 years of age.

Yes I guess it does make a difference in your metabolism, BMI and calorie intake. That's true, I guess I was just trying to let this person know that age alone is not a sufficient determinant of what your weight should be.

Doesn't sound unhealthy. Age doesn't really indicate how much you should weigh, though. What is your height? Are you a male or female? Are you small, medium or large frame?

Foods Irish Pub Food Nov 15 2009
20:00 (UTC)

I ate at an Irish Pub once that had a really good salad with grilled chicken and lots of veggies. A small amount of lean steak is good on a salad, too. Choose the best dressing (light dressings or vinaigrettes are lower-cal) and get it on the side. Any questionable ingredients (like cheese, croutons, or dried fruit) just ask for them on the side and you can add just a small amount, or don't get them at all. And drink just water!

I've heard that shrimp with lobster sauce is a healthy choice. Get steamed rice instead of  fried.

If you want to be really good you can sub veggies for rice! to me the rice is the best part, though!

Good tips! I use tiny bowls for ice cream, too!

I also started weighing and measuring my food to help me learn portion size, and it was very surprising! The reccommended serving size is much smaller than what I have been serving myself my whole life! What was more surprising is that I was still satisfied by the smaller portions!

I don't want to spend my life measuring everything I eat, so just doing it sometimes helps me to learn what a serving size looks like and now I know how to "eyeball" it!

Try not to obsess over normal weight fluctuations. Exactly how long have you been eating to gain?

Are you keeping close track of your calorie intake? How many calories does your doctor recommend?

You should try working out every other day  or at least taking one more rest day during the week. maybe alternate days with something light and relaxing like stretching or pilates. (I think relaxation is something you definitely NEED to focus on!)

Try upping your protein too since you're building muscle lifting weights.

Let me know how you're doing...Good luck!

considering how young and active you are I would stick with at least 1800 per day.

They say you should have a 500 calorie deficit per day, so that would put you at 2170.

Weight Loss Is there a difference in quality of calories? Sep 09 2008

A calorie is a calorie no matter where it came from.

That said, the fat and other nutrients that you ingest will affect your body in other ways, such as energy levels, skin condition, blood sugar, muscle mass, etc.

You WILL lose weight if you eat 1400 calories of just snickers and big macs per day. but your health will suffer and you will feel sluggish or sick because of the lack of fiber and nutrition in your diet.

Healthy balanced diet will help keep your metabolism steady and normal.

5'5.5"

started at 173 in a size 12

160 lbs got me into a size 10

now 147 getting into some 8's and even a bridesmaids dress that was a 6!

People never believe my weight when I tell them either. I think that so many people lie about their weight that it's hard to tell who weighs what anymore!

I have this problem, too. My man is highly unmotivated and he is really sensitive about his weight. I have learned that I CAN'T make him do something he is not ready to commit to!

My plan is to lead by example. I've lost 28 lbs since Feb. and he has certainly noticed. The more weight I lose, the more he says, "Oh I really need to lose weight, too." I tell him how great I feel and how nice it is to be in a size 8 again! He sees how much more confident and happy I am now. He wants that too, even if he doesn't say it.

I cook healthy dinners and try to encourage him to eat nutritious foods the rest of the day. Once in a while I'll pack him a lunch to take to work and he really appreciates me taking care of him!  Now he's lost about 10-15 lbs without trying, and his pants are baggier on him, which he likes! He still has a long way to go, and is not motivated to exercise on a regular basis, but I just keep on with my healthy routine and hope that he will join me!

Just keep living your healthy lifestyle and include him in as much as you can. Try to make it fun. He'll see that the changes you've made are making your life better, making YOU healthier, happier, sexier, and more confident. He will want those things for himself, too.

I'm on birth control (and have been for about 7 years) and it has never affected my weight. In fact, I recently lost 26 lbs!

Your eating habits affect your weight. BC pills contain hormones, which contribute to your cravings, but they mostly help to balance you out. They reduce my PMS symptoms significantly, including moodiness, cramps, and of course, crazy cravings!

I think you'll enjoy the benefits!

I just bought expensive new shoes about a week ago, and they do make a difference, you're right.

Also since the balls of my feet hurt, I always focus on landing on my heels or with as flat a foot as possible. I definitely do not land on the balls of my feet!

I try really hard to focus on my form.

I'm doing week 2 of Couch to 5k! I really like it but just as you, I feel like the workouts are getting harder and I'm not getting much better at it! I'm going to stick with it til the end, though!

What skookum said makes me feel like there's light at the end of the tunnel! We ARE pushing ourselves to exhaustion like she said, so someday we'll get there! I guess you have to be an experienced runner to get that "high"!

I tried the blueberry muffin flavor, and it's pretty darned good!

Weight Loss Whey Protein? Aug 10 2008

yeah protein is great to help your muscles recover from a hard workout.

Today for lunch I had a shake: 1 small banana, 4 medium strawberries, 8oz skim milk, 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder, and a handful of ice cubes. It tasted pretty good! It was around 325 calories, which is ok as a meal replacement.

I buy the GNC brand, I like it ok! It's best mixed with fruit and/or milk instead of water like the packaging suggests!

If you are only 15, you definitely need to get lots of calcium because your bones are still growing.

Viactive chews are yummy, like chewy candy. You should try those if you are willing to try a supplement. I drink milk everyday, but everytime I go to my mother-in-law's house I eat one because they taste good!
