I have been on the levothyroxine at 50 mg for almost two months now and at first the weight dropped off (8 pounds in a week!) then i plateaued for about 2 or three weeks andjust this morning i lost my two pounds. I joined Curves last week and i upped my cals last week from 1350 to 1550 and that seemed to work well. So may want to up your cals. Are you going by the cals that CC gave you or are you going off your BMR?

I went by what CC gave me and it was wayyyy too little so let me know your stats and i can figure out your BMR for you if you dont know it already.

It took a month for me to feel better actually after taking the meds, i have more energy, i can sleep at night and my hair loss is slowing down emmensely! It was coming out in clumps! I actually am finding it easier to lose weight on the meds b/c now i have the motivation to do something about it and the energy to do it. I know it is not going to happen overnight but i am sure happy of the progress i am making. You should start feeling better 4 to 6 weeks after taking the meds. If you need any thing please don't hesitate to ask i am always on here! Is it alright if i add you as a friend, i think we could help each other out alot!

I have to say Pepsi is my first love, but i knew in order to lose the weight i needed to lose i had to divorce it! It was rough but here is how i did it....I just bought the Caffeine Free Pepsi and i drank one can a day for a bout a week then i switched to sierra mist for another week and then i switched to water and i have been soda free ever since. Since i cut out the Pepsi and other soda's i lost 7 pounds the first week i did CC! So it goes to show you how much effect it can really have on your body!

Now i drink water and propel most days but on my free day (every friday) i indulge in an 8 oz glass of pepsi and that is it! But i feel better now that i cut out the soda's! I hope this helps!

If i don't track on my free days i just keep in the back of my mind what i can and can't eat for breakfast and lunch....hope this helps...if you have any questions feel free to send me a message, i am ALWAYS on...lol...ttyl

When i hit my plateau i did something called a "free day" every Friday. On this free day i eat a sensible breakfast and lunch and for dinner i eat more than my alloted amount. What this did for me is give my metabolism a kick in the pants...so to speak and it actually got me over the plateau and ever since i have been doing it every friday. It may not work for everyone but it alot of us on us on here actually swear by it. So try and give it a shot...you may just be surprised! If you need any pointers let me know!

I know that complements from others makes you feel good but i think you should keep in mind that you have done something not many people have the control and will power to do..you lost 30 pounds!!!! I think you should give yourself complements and little rewards along the way. For me those have been the most positive than anything else anyone has ever told me! Just keep your chin up and keep on keeping on with it! Just keep thinking to yourself "I am awesome!" and i think you will keep this up....hope this helps! Congrats!

Weight Loss How do I curb that sweet tooth? Mar 14 2008

hmmm i know it is hard to stay away from candy but what i do is when i am craving something sweet i cut up a red delicious apple and that usually calms the craving or i chew on a piece of sugarless gum (only 5 cals a piece). Just when you get a candy craving supplement it with a piece of fruit. It may not work for everyone but it does work for me. Just a suggestion. Have a great day!

I usually crave Buffalo chicken wings......i live in Buffalo so they are too easy for me to get. Actually, I live in a little town in the suburb of Buffalo with only 20,000 or so people that live in it and we have over 150 pizza shops! So needless to say they make it very hard for a girl that got fat on pizza and chicken wings to say no! I think they are out to get me....lol....or maybe not!

So what i have been doing to fend off my cravings is when i start to get hungry i chew on a piece of extra sugar free gum (only 5 cals a stick) and down a bottle of water and that usually holds me off for a little while.

Laure, i think you are absolutely right we need a free pass! Could you imagine just one day of eating whatever we want with no repercussions! That would be a dream!

I just want to stay as healthy as i possibly can while helping myself a little bit. I heard that vitamins are really important while you are dieting so i figured that i could "kill two birds with one stone" so to speak.  This has been a rough transition for me but i am trying so hard to keep this thing on track!

Weight Loss The Alli and Grapefruit Diet! It works! Mar 11 2008

Well the reason why that display makes so much sense is because if you eat too much fatty food while taking Alli it will make you go number 2 like crazy! Well think about it, the fat has to come out some where. I know that is gross but it is true that is really the way it works.

P.S.

I was looking for an appropriate phrase other than number2 but i really couldn't think of any, i hope no one is offended b/c that was not my intention!

Motivation can be hard sometimes. It means a different thing to everyone. My motivation is when i went to the doctor's and stepped on the scale and it said 179! I was bound and determined on never seeing past that number! Plus i have three kids that depend on me and need me at my best and healthiest that i can possibly be!

Basically what you have to do is ask the question, "why am i doing this?". If you can answer that question with all honesty than you can find the motivation that you need to succeed. you also need to start at small realistic goals like mine was getting past 175, then 170, etc. this is what is helping me stay focused on all of this, plus i am getting married next year and i don't want to look fat in my dress....lol....you just have to know what and why you are doing this. I have all the faith in the world that you can make this work, you just have to want it bad enough. Hope this helps you out in some way! Smile

Weight Loss Who is going by CC reccomended weight? Mar 10 2008

I am 5'3" and 169lbs they said my goal weight was 127, i have never been that low before, the thinnest i ever was in my adult years was 140lbs, so i have to say curiosity is killing the cat on this one, i would love to see myself at 127! Again it all depends on how far you want to take this thing, the choice is solely yours and yours only. So i am sure what ever you decide will be the best thing for you. Good Luck in your endeavors! Health & Support Hypothyroidism What are the symptoms? Mar 05 2008
15:39 (UTC)
I got diagnosedwith Hashimoto's Disease which is an auto immune thyroid disease in September and i just had a visit with an Endocrinologist and got on Synthroyd last week because my Thyroid went Hypoactive (underactive). The reason i questioned my thyroid is because i gained 20 pounds in 6 months! Since last week when i got on the meds, i have been watching my calories and i have lost 7 pounds!!! So that was my saving grace, so it just might be yours. If you have any more questions about it please message me!
