I think this is a job for science. Like with research and experiments and supported data. Supported data is a good thing. |

AVG Those are all free. Don't bother with the subscription-based ones; even if you do pirate them, they're just not as good as the free ones. |

No, I don't mind sharing, but my housemates are health/organic-nuts, so I doubt filling the house with chemical butter scent would get me on their good side. Does anyone know if air-popped popcorn has much of a smell? |

| Weight Loss | how to stop overeating | Mar 27 2008 03:32 (UTC) |
11 |
Slow down. Slow way down. Never do anything else while you're eating, just focus on the food. Chew slowly, pay very close attention to the texture and flavor, and don't swallow until there's nothing left to chew. Take a break after every bite--if you're using silverware, put it down, if you're eating finger food, put that down. Drink a sip or two of water between every bite. Don't take another bite until you consciously decide that you are still hungry. Try not to let your mind wander too much. I was always afraid to act this way because of the whole "fatty obsessed with food" stereotype. Don't be afraid. Eating like this, you will be able to fully appreciate your food and be more satisfied with less. |

Yeah, that's me. Height: 5' 4" Weight: right around 130 My measurements are somewhere& nbsp;around 36-29-36, but that 's only an estimate becau se the best measuring tap e I have is a shoela ce I marked off with a Sharpie. XP I'm 14 and in 10th g rade, and I've been there (am there) with the  ;motivation. I've always had&n bsp;a huge issue with bod y image because I was&nbs p;unhealthily overweight when I was very young and  ;always had my parents te lling me to diet. | Weight Loss | My BMR? Help | Mar 22 2008 20:08 (UTC) |

So you've used an off-site BMR calculator to get 1700? That's sort of high, but not impossible. From what I've heard, eating your BMR is just as vague a guideline as the 1200-a-day rule. It's more about paying attention to see what's right for you and your goals. EDIT: According to your p rofile, you're 5'3" and 1 37 lbs. I just guessed&nb sp;that you were around 2 0 years old, and the  ;BMR calculator says yours&nbs p;would be just over 1400 . The calculator is here if you want to try& nbsp;it out. |

| Weight Loss | My BMR? Help | Mar 22 2008 20:03 (UTC) |

Your BMR isn't how much you burn on Sedentary, it's how much you'd burn if you never moved at all. If you burn about 1700 calories a day without excercise, your BMR would be around 1400 calories. |

I don't think we need any more calories during our periods, though we do have to be extra-careful to get enough iron. You might be not eating enough in general, though. If you burn an average of 2700 calories a day and you're only eating 1500-1600, you have a typical calorie deficit of 1100 or higher. In general, calorie deficits shouldn't be above 1000. |

I thought so too, but even if I walked for an hour throughout the day at a reasonably slow pace--probably much more than I actually do--it would only burn about 120 calories, not the 290 difference between my BMR and sedentary rates. |

| I love eating sticks of uncooked spaghetti. Of course it's pretty much devoid of nutritional content, but it takes so long to eat them that I never have more than 5 or 10 pieces. They're great when I'm craving carbs and want to eat just for the sake of eating. | |||

| Foods | if calories were non existant, what would you eat EVERYDAY? | Mar 05 2008 04:35 (UTC) |

Let's see now... My average breakfast would&nbs p;be a tub of popcorn&nbs p;with extra butter, a stack of chocolate chip pancakes, and a giant smoothie from Jamba Juice. For an early-morning snack, I'd have a family-size box of Cheerios, followed by a iced chocolate donut an hour or two later. Lunch would be a grilled cheese sandw ich with a sack of b aked Cheetos on the side. For a mid-afternoon snac k I'd eat a plate of nachos with extra salsa, followed up by a ba g of those mint-chocolate  ;Kisses they only make ar ound the holidays. I'd or der a box of cheese sticks from Papa John's and pick up a large order of fries from Burger King for dinner, then finish it all off with a cone of butterscotch frozen custard. ...I get infinite stomach  ;capacity too, right? |

There's no reason at all for you to drink Emergen-C if you don't like it. If you were significantly vitamin deficient, taking a mega-dose would boost your immune system, but otherwise it's just as go od as any other fluid.&nb sp;I drink it because I like the taste, but aside from all the junk science and placebo effects, there's no evidence of it helping to get over a&nbs p;cold. |
