Oh my goodness! I have not had a minute to do anything for myself in the last two weeks. Between my work starting back up again and my husband working the equivalent of two full time jobs, and the chaos of the kids, unless i workout at midnight and give up those few precious hours of sleep, it just is not happening right now. I swear I will get to working out soon. I swear. |

doing ok. I was on track with workouts and then got hit with a vicious TTOM. First one post pregnancy so it came with migraine, nausea, cramps the double you over. Ok, probably TMI. Regardless, I was not able to workout. I barely handle the kids and the house. I am going to get back on track though now that it is over. |

Yesterday I decided to do the arms/shoulders p90x. You are right, I can't wait for my husband, who is pulling double shifts right now. Our next workout together is supposed to be back and legs, so I decided to work through the other videos each day until he gets a chance to do that one. The arms went well. We have one set of adjustable 10 - ??? lb dumb bells, so it was nice to have those all to myself to really push the heavier weight. I am liking the program so far even though i am not right on the "normal" schedule. I can really feel it, but am not getting super soar like i did the first couple days. too hot/humid and no AC today, so no workout :( |

Not from Zumba, i haven't tried it yet. But. I did get major side aches (and actual bruising) from using a weighted hula hoop someone recommended for working abs. waiting on my husband to do the next day of p90x. So, today I did some treadmilling. (hence the love2hatetreadmills; yeah, it got shortened somehow) I jogged 3 miles. Not sure what made me feel better: that I finally got back up to 3 miles or that the kids let me do it. Either way, it feels good. |

no p90x the last couple days. My husband has been working a lot and we are doing it together, so I am waiting for him to do the next day in the program. In the mean time I have been hitting the treadmill. I jogged 3 miles today in a respectable time. It felt good to get back to that again. I was concerned it was going to take me forever to get back to what i was able to do pre-pregnancy. |

good job Boots! As for the scale, the p90x program actually says to throw it out for 90 days. So, I am going to do my best to not give in to temptation and check. |

What is zumba? I did day 3: shoulders and arms today. My butt and lower quads are achy from plyo yesterday. They didn't start to hurt until I had the nerve to try to go do laundry down stairs. The up the stairs was not much fun. I have hope though since you all seem to be blowing through these workouts. |

Today was Day 3: shoulders and arms. It wasn't too bad. I think I was expecting awful so it didn't seem to be too bad. Expect the worst, hope for the best, and be happy if it is better than brutal Tomorrow is yoga. I dont care for yoga so I may just do a bunch of stretching on my own. I also owe an ab ripper session because i didn't do it tonight. I was on only 4 hours of sleep again and my bed is calling. How is everyone doing? |

We have one those little magic bullet mixers and I have never noticed any little pb threads. Actually the ease of that little mixer made me start having whey shakes in the morning instead of skipping breakfast. |

Just did Day 2: plyometrics (I took a day off between 1 and 2 because the baby didn't let me sleep. Functioning was hard, working out was not an option) Plyometrics was pretty tough. I did ok through the first 30 minutes, but the second half I was having trouble clearing the floor when I jumped. Dang! Sharp- I do a scoop of chocolate whey protein with a Tbsp of real peanut butter (no jiff) in 8 oz. of milk. It works for me and I am a total chocolholic, so it helps my get a fix. |

I did not workout yesterday. My husband actually agreed that I was too sore and too tired to do the next workout. I only got 4 broken hours of sleep because of the baby. I was lucky to be walking straight. Today though, we did Day 2: Plyometrics. Basically, jump training and sports drills. By the time we got 40 min in, I would jump with everything I had and not get half an inch of air between me and the floor. I did keep pushing through the rest of the workout, but I didn't look much like the people in the video. Even if I tried the modifiers it was rather comical. I will get better though. Tomorrow is shoulders and arms and Ab Ripper again. |

I appreciate the support. My saga: I started on CC awhile ago after a doc told me he didn't want to see me keeping inching up the scale every year. I am 5'5" and was wavering between 165 and 170. I kicked my butt in gear, started watching what i was eating and working out. Of course, this was not the first time in my life I started doing these things. After my first and second child I was able to lose the weight (Tae-bo and The Firm). After my 3rd, it just kind of stuck around. My husband and I had a gym membership but decided to cancel it and instead get a good treadmill and workout equipment for our house. Then there was no excuse. I worked really hard for over 6 months and only managed to eek the scale to sticking to 165. I went to the doc, ran tests, checked my thyroid. No help. I got fed up with the whole idea. About that same time I decided I wanted another child. So, I just had my 4th (and final) child at the beginning of June. I have the all clear to work out again and I really want to get back down to something more reasonable. I actually don't care all that much about the scale, but I would like to enjoy shopping for clothes again. I would like to not cringe when I walk in front of a mirror or see a pic of myself. Vain, yes. But really, I want to feel and look healthier. My husband is on board to help with the workout and the food. I am not planning on sticking to an exact diet menu per say , but we do eat a lot of fresh produce, lean meat, whole grains, and whey protein. There is next to no junk food in the house, unless we count the kids' popsicles or lunch supplies. Workouts can be sketchy with 4 kids, but we are determined to fit them in as much as humanly possible. |

Do you ladies have room for one more? I did my first session of p90x this morning with my husband and I think I am going to need some female support to push me through it. OUCH! I am positive it is the hardest work out I have ever done. As thankful I am that my husband is supportive, he is in considerably better shape than I am. Do you really see fast results? |

p90x report: ok, so it takes about 45 min for session 1 of p90x, but then you do the 15 min Ab Ripper right afterword. Ummmm. OUCH! This was by far the hardest workout I think I have ever done. Or perhaps it was just that it worked muscles I don't usually focus on. Session 1 is push ups and pullups. Alternating between the two and different styles. You get a time limit and you are supposed to do as many as you can in that time. You write it all down, and then next week when we do session 1 again, I am supposed to try to "beat" that score. By the time we got to these funky push up/yoga dip things (no idea what they are actually called), I was falling on my face. I labeled it A.F. (Attempt Failed). The Ab Ripper was pretty rough too, especially awful if you have post pregnancy abs. (p.p. abs = NO muscle whatsoever). I spent a lot of time laughing at myself and therefore messing up my husbands workout because he started laughing. |

My hubby said it takes an hour and a half. It is 6 days on 1 day off. Or maybe the 7th day is optional yoga? I am not sure about all the details. At the rate we are going we are never going to get an hour and a half together to do it. My scale isn't moving much either, but I kind of expected that. I was holding at pre-preggers weight quite nicely. I started back on the pill and almost immediately went up 5 lbs. Grrrrrr. So, my treadmilling, although everyday, has been trying to eeek away those nasty extra 5 hormone lbs. |

ok, well job drama kept us from doing P90X, but I have managed to get on my treadmill every day this week. I am trying for 3 miles a day and am working towards being able to jog the whole things. Right now I am alternating jogging (5.5-6.0 mph) and walking (4.0 mph). My indurance for jogging is getting better. As soon as we get an hour and half to do it, we are going to do p90x. It has just been impossible to get that kind of time with his job and the kids. Boots - way to get motivated early! |

thanks Boots! Congrats on the 8.7! Only got in 20 min today. It is too stinking hot to treadmill. My hubby wants to do p90x with him at some point today, but we keep running into kid blocks. I don't think he believed me about how hard it was to fit in a workout right now.

Too busy with too many distractions to get a workout in yesterday. Boo. Today, I managed 150 crunches and 20 min. on the treadmill. I alternated speed walking (4.0 mph) and jogging (5.5 mph) every 1/4 mile. It is going to take me some time to get back to jogging well again. Not great, but the littlest lady of the house was not in agreement with my need to workout, so it is what it is. How is everyone's weekend? |

It feels good to purge unnecessary stuff. I really need to hit my basement, but not sure I will get to it this summer. I got 30 min. on the treadmill yesterday. I find if I get ready to workout and get the treadmill set up, with the idea that I may not use it for several hours, and may or may not get a shower afterwords, it is easier to get in the time. Since I may only get a 30 min. stint at a time it helps me get it all in. Today I plan on treading in the evening. I have too many other things to accomplish this morning. <edit> 45 min on treadmill today (1-30 min session, 1-15 min session) and 150 crunches |

Sandy, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family. My vacation was good. The kids had a blast. It is good to be home though, despite the huge To Do list. I have done really well with eating the last few days. Helped that there was nothing in the house. That, and when i went grocery shopping I stopped myself from buying any junk food. Lots of fruits and veggies instead. I did get in a mini workout yesterday. I took one baby break to put on my workout clothes and set up the treadmill. Then an hour later, when she actually dozed off, I was able to get in a mile and a half. Only 20 min. worth of power walking, but better than nothing. She has been very demanding, so I don't get a lot of time for myself. Most of what little time she gives me, I spend w the other kids, or dealing with the house chores. I am really hoping to get into some sort of routine so I can at least get in 30 min a day. That may be the best I can do right now. |

I'm baaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaaaaack! I skimmed the last months worth of posts and looks like i have some catching up to do. I have the all clear today from the doc to go back to working out however I want to. Now i just have to make the time. :) I did NOT work out today, but I did get a ton of housework, laundry and kid carting done. We got home yesterday so today i had to clean out the fridge and tomorrow i have to restock it. Lots of fresh produce and lean meats on the grocery list. I DID drink all my water (96oz), cut back the diet coke, and ate well (minus 3 pieces of red licorice). I am hoping to have time to treadmill tomorrow. We will see. |

The program is expensive ($100+). We are borrowing it from a friend. It is 6 workouts a week, 1 day off, for 90 days. It does a lot of pushups, pullups, and weights. I know it mixes in Kempo (not sure if I spelled it right, basically Tae-bo), pliometrix (jump workout), yoga, and ab ripper. You need a pullup bar (or workout bands if you can't do a pullup yet, like me) and free weights. There is also an eating plan you can do with it. I am going to do the workouts and stick to just my normal eating habits which aren't too bad. When in doubt, one change at a time and I may stick to it, right? My husband was on the program last year and got ripped. It was awesome. He hasn't done it in several months and he still looks pretty good. He has already set up a 2nd pullup bar in the basement so we can do the program together. Of course I have to work up to actual pullups, but the program works to your level. It is time based and it is up to you to push yourself to get more reps in the time limit each time. So when I start and can do 5 pushups in a minute, then next time I do the workout I should push myself to do 7. Then just keep increasing. They encourage you to keep records so you know how far to push yourself in the next workout. It sounds really good, but very intense. I just hope it works. My body has a habit of taking considerably longer to kick in results than most programs say. I have warned my husband it is more likely to be a 180 day program for me than a 90 day. The next challenge is finding time, with 4 kids, to get in an hour to an hour and a half a day without major interuption. We may be working out at midnight. |

Boots, i have sort of been taking your advice, but not necessarily by choice. The demands of having a 4th child have given me little time to spend on myself. I decided that I am going to wait to start any programs until I get back from vacation. The kids and I are headed out of town in a couple days. I figure my "workouts" for the next couple weeks will be chasing the kids, playing in the lake, golfing, and maybe I will sneak in some crunches and pushups to start retraining myself. Then, when I am back, I am going to fullfill my promise to my husband to do p90x with him. |

I am back. Sorry to be MIA for so long. My pretty-decent pregnancy hit a rough end and I landed on bedrest among other craziness. BUT, it is over now. I have a beautiful new daughter and she was worth every second. Along with the joys of pregnancy, I also came home today with . . . yup, weight to lose. I gained 25 with the pregnancy and I am not even willing to get on a scale for a few days because I am still laden with water weight and my body has a lot of shifting to do as I get into the routine of breast feeding. As promised, I am going to need some support and some challenges (and probably some butt kicking) to get back into the good healthy lifestyle. I hope you are all still out there. I can't do it without you.

I want to go bike riding. Ok, not today, because it stupdily SNOWED last night. Yes, i swear it is April and we got like 5 inches. But this weekend, it was really nice out and all I wanted to do was go for a bike ride. I am not sure if my lack of balance at the moment, or my sciatica scared me more, but i did not ride. I am soooooo looking forward to June. The beach ball stomache will be gone and i will be able to enjoy normal activities again AND work at getting my I-am-done-having-kids body the way I want it. Hmmmm. Only a couple short months. How was everyone's weekend? |
