It's update time again.

I started at 176lbs last week and this morning when I weighed myself  I was at 171lbs.... that's down 5lbs.  I know that some of that was bloating from PMS, but none the less I'm feeling pretty good.  It's been years since I"ve seen the scale that low!  It's definately motivation to keep me going.

Way to go Niccimax, numbers coming down is a GREAT thing!  Enjoy a weekend in Paris... it's been years since I've been.   Stay away from the baguettes and brie is all I can say.  They may be tasty but they pack on the calories.  I'm sure you can still try to get in fruit from fruiteries as a to go snack, healthy and tasty!

Hey there,

I just joined up yesterday, but I can tell you my stats from then.

I'm 5'10" and I thought I was at close to 185lbs, but the scale yesterday afternoon said 178lbs.  Today I weighed myself in the morning like most discussions say is best and it was at around 176 give or take so I guess that's closer to what I actually am.  That then puts me at a point where I want to lose around 25lbs.  Considering most of the time I'm around 180 - 185 I still plan to stay in this group!  We can do it :)

Today was a hard day for me, I was having a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day!  Everything seemed to be going wrong and all I wanted to do was munch on food to make myself "feel better" Of course we all know in the long run that's not the case, we just feel worse.  I weathered through the worst of it with lime juice flavoured water and a yoghurt.  I had eaten well overall during the day and splurged on having a handful of chips after my dinner.

I made the most delicious chicken pot pie yesterday for my sister and I and there's only one portion left.  I found it on the back of a bisquick box and when you break it down into 8 portions it's quite reasonable per portion calorie wise. I will definately be making it again as it's ever so tasty.  If anyone is interested in a stick to your ribs type of meal without the fat let me know and I"ll post my slightly modified version of the recipe here :)

Ok, so today is turning out to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. For those of you with kids, this might sound familiar. I think I'll move to Australia.

What do you do on days when everything seems to be going wrong? right now I'd love to be snacking, but I know it's not what I should be doing. I'm in a position where I can't just go for a walk or do what might be considered simple things because I'm juggling my work (home childcare) with having my siter visiting (she's developmentally disabled) and not having anyone right now to help me out.

The kids are napping so it affords me some semblance of "quiet" although with my sister here it's not really.

Help!

ETA : I am letting my sister and the six year old watch a movie together and I've gotten myself a yoghurt and a big glass of water.  That should help a bit :)

My morning has been crazy already, but I finally got it going.  I just had my breakfast, two packets of apples and cinnamon instant oatmeal.  I'll be making myself a cup of tea soon.

I'm not sure how people manage 9 - 5 jobs outside of the house, it's been so long since I've had one I can't imagine how I'D manage anymore! I know I did though.

Last night was kind of tough, I'm ok during the day, but in the evenings I tend to snack and boy did I want to last night, it was so bad at one point that I let myself have 1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce, which put me over my daily calorie limit by about 60 just so that I'd be able to eat something.   I know that's when my cravings for food are, the evenings.  My day is done, things quiet down and then I want to snack.  I'll have to start making air popped popcorn again (love the stuff) so that I'll have something ready for when the cravings hit!

When I last went shopping with my sister for groceries I noticed that the little cans of V-8 were on sale.  I so rarely purchase them and it's not because I don't like them.  I picked up a 6 pack for her and one for me.  They are awesome!

Each little can has one serving or "shot" as they call it of veggies and they are just 40 - 50 calories depending on which "flavour" you get.  My plan now is to buy the big bottles of V-8 so that I can add in more veggies to my diet.  I enjoy veggies, but have been terrible about incorporating them into my eating habits.

Dinner time is only an hour and a half away and I'll let you know how my chicken pot pie has turned out.  It has made the house smell sooooo good and it's chock full of veggies!  Three cups worth in that one batch.

BTW, Today I'm doing well with my calorie count I'll post a total before bedtime.  I need to do some cleaning as well so that will help things along.

I'd like to join too!

My goal is 30 - 35 lbs I worked it out that since I am pretty darn sedentary I can eat 1700 calories a day and lose that weight by November 1st.  I had been doing the calorie counter back in April and was doing ok, but didn't think of checking out the forums.  I'm a person that needs a bit of support and motivation.  I know this will have to be slow and steady for me to change my eating habits.  I know I can do this!

Do any of you have any favorite low calorie recipes that you keep going back to?

Generally I'm not so good at cooking just for me and it's not about not enjoying cooking or enjoying the food.  Somehow I don't feel I'm worth the time and effort that it takes to put together a good meal.  Summertime is even harder, because I don't use the oven/stove as much.  I do enjoy BBQing though.  I'd love to come up with a weekly menu plan involving slow cooker recipes and BBQ'd meals.

Today I am making a chicken pot pie for dinner.  I have my sister visiting so it's easier to "justify" cooking.  I'm looking forward to giving it a try.  I used the recipe program here on the site and it works out to be quite reasonable per serving.

Are there others here that have a hard time cooking for just themselves?

I'm with you guys on this one!  I was looking for a thread or ready to start a thread of my own.

I had been using the calorie counter back in April with good intentions, but I don't have any support which I know I really need.  I only came back to the site today with once again the intention of finding support/friends to help me out.

I'll have to re-calculate the amount of calories per day that I should be taking in and then the amount I expend.  My goal is to lose about 30 lbs.  I know I can do this it's just easier with the support of others who are in the same situation.
