I have not had much success so far. I don't know what's wrong with me. But today I really think is the day. When i overeat, I can't exercise the next morning without feeling sick and i get home too late to exercise at night. My only choice is to eat well so that I can continue to exercise...and I love to exercise! I dont' know why, but i just haven't been very motivated. I think it's because the goal i have is coming up so fast and there's no way I will be where I want to be by that time, so I feel hopeless. I just need to make an attainable goal and stick with it. Who cares if the in-laws think i gained a few pounds since they saw me at my wedding (skinniest I've ever been). They'll see me again. Well, here's hoping. |

| Games & Challenges | 5 lbs by Halloween Challenge! *MONDAY WEIGH-INS* | Sep 30 2008 19:55 (UTC) |

So, what is everyone doing today to keep on track? I went running this morning in preparation for my 5k on Saturday. I think for a first 5k I should do pretty well (I hope). Last night I totally overate which isn't that common for me on a weekday (esp. Monday). I usually overeat on the weekend. Maybe my body was confused since I was actually good this weekend for the first time in a while. Anyway, I am pretty disappointed in myself because of it. I will not repeat that mistake any time soon. I really want to lose a few more pounds and then keep them off. How is everyone? |

My plan is to try to eat little meals throughout the day and make sure I have at least a 500 calories deficit. I am running a 5k on Saturday, so I will be in the final training stages for that this week which means some working out will take place. Also, I will do arms and legs strength training every other day M-Th. Friday is a rest day and then Saturday is the 5k. I am super excited b/c it's my first 5k ever! |

Happy First Weigh-In!! Height: 5'8.5 SW: 147 CW: 138.6 GW: 135 (or lower maybe) I could have been a lot worse this weekend if it hadn't been for this group! I kept remembering that first thing Monday morning I had to "weigh in". It really helped!

I would like to join this group. I have never joined a challenge before. I think it is exactly what I need because I always overeat on the weekend. If we weigh in on Monday, I will have a good reason to watch it. See you Monday! |

| Weight Loss | Skipped Mexican Food BUT still PIGGED out!!! | Sep 18 2008 16:54 (UTC) |

I am not sure if that would be less than mexican food. I guess it depends on the entree. 4 cups of trail mix is a lot of calories, if it's approx. 150 cal. for 1/4 cup (that's what the kind i like is). So that would be 600 cal per cup X 4 = 2400 in trail mix alone. Why does trail mix have to be so high in calories? It's soooooooo good. I have trouble stopping once i start eating it, so i try not to buy it anymore. It's too bad because the whole foods i go to has so many tasty varieties in their bulk section. anyway, so you overate yesterday, but you don't have to overeat today. good luck. |

Better'n Peanut Butter (in my opinion) is very disgusting. So don't get your hopes up too high until you've tried it. Maybe you will love it, but I just want you to be warned. I would like to try PB2 sometime, but after Better'n Peanut Butter experience I am very skeptical of peanut butter substitutes. I think it's one of those things that there is no substitute for. It's the fat and natural flavors that make it so darn good. |

It would be a short walk from where you are staying. http://www.javagreencafe.com/index.php?option =com_content&view=article&id=55&I temid=63 Check it out! |

Just like mkculs, I also use a Heart Rate Monitor. It is a great help to know the exact amount of calories you are burning. Before I got it, I thought i was burning way more than I actually am (I was using the tools on this site to figure out my burn). |

I think it works best to set your activity level at sedentary and then log your major exercise activities. For example, each day I log my workouts and my walk to work. I don't log getting dressed or sitting at the computer, those things don't make enough of a difference in my overall calorie burn.

There is a salad chain in DC where I live called Chop't. It's great! YOu get your choice of lettuce with 5 toppings for like $6. I always get my salad with spinach, chick peas, green peas, broccoli, and other veggies with balsamic vinegar. BUT, whenever I go there the person in front of me or behind me is always ordering something along these lines: iceburg lettuce, fried onions, ham, cheese, egg pieces, croutons and ranch dressing. They probably feel good about themselves all day for having a salad for lunch!!! |

When you get it, post something about it. I want to know if i am the only one who saw such a huge difference between their actual calories burned and the CC site estimates...or send me a message about it if you want to. |

I also bought the pink coral polar F6 on amazon less than one week ago. I got it in two days and have been obsessed with it ever since. I was disappointed at first because i was burning a lot less then this site said i was, but it has encouraged me to work harder in the gym and eat better. i finally feel like my deficit is accurate, and i've actually been making some progress with my weight loss. Before i couldn't understand why i was losing less than half a pound a week. But now i know it's because i was only keeping a deficit of between 200 and 300 each day. Whoops!

Use the recipe analyzer. Click the "Foods" tab at the top and then choose "New Recipe". You can put in the whole recipe and then divide it up by servings. then you can save it and have it ready and available for next time you make the casserole. It's very helpful. |

Maybe you could research how they produce it. That could cause you to lose your appetite for it altogether. |

I don't drink anymore, but when I did I found that going to the gym was the best cure for a hangover. I felt like I was sweating out all the yucky stuff that was making me feel so bad. I would also suggest (although I think I'm too late) going to the gym with the intention of walking on the treadmill or riding the stationary bike, and if you are inclined to do so, kick it up a notch!
Good luck! |

No, but I tend to eat stuff that is all natural. I am not sure it is possible to have all natural peanut butter that is low in calories. I have recently had to ween myself from peanut butter. I am going on day 4 of my "no peanut butter" rule. I am trying to see if i can do it for a week. I found myself dipping the strangest things in peanut butter...i hate to even think how many extra calories i added to my daily intake each day by just taking a little pb here and a little there (of course i didn't record it). From now on i am just going to measure it carefully (no heaping tablespoons), put it on some bread and enjoy it while it lasts. Good luck in your search for low calorie peanut butter! Also, i hope you like Better n' Peanut Butter more than I did!! : ) |

Better 'n Peanut Butter is disgusting. I bought a jar of it one day (I was so excited about it) and ended up throwing the whole jar away after tasting it. I guess you might like it, but just be warned... |

Thanks. Yeah, I did some uphill running and didn't know how to log it because as far as i can find, they only have uphill walking (3.5 mph) and i was running at more like 6 to 7 mph.
I just need to get a HRM to satisfy all of my curiosity. |

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
