candycane ofcorse is fine to eat sweets!! pesoanly i find its better to eat sweets as it gets you back to 'normal' eating. i have AT LEAST one piece of chocolate a day :) .. its kinda like a reward for doing well! as well as any other 'junk' food. if you want to have a muffin have one.. or twoo.. or three.. or how ever many you want! the quicker you do it.. the quicker ull get to recovery.. and thats what we want right? so whats the point of making recovery longer than nessecary? and lets face it .. your gonna have to gain the weight regardless.. so you might as well do it eating the food you love! right? hope this helps :) let me kno if u hav anyother questions!

hey guysss im going thru the samee thingg.. no matter how hard i try i just cat find myself eating 2500 calroies.. i am gaining on like 1700 and gaining alot as in like.. 400gs a day and i walk heaps every day (around at school and home from school).. but im not sure if this is water weight or if its food cause im kind of constepated at the moment lol. but continuing.. i find it really hard to up my calories no matter how hard i try.. ed is just rely stong somtimes.. but i have my good days and my bad .. u know how it is... but still fighting... but like u i feel like im that 1 in a million that doesnt need to up to that much cause im gaining and i dont really wanna gain like a kilo a day! lol and yes thats my storyy.. any advice? |

hey rockpea.. getting all the food down can be tough as somtimes there may seem like so much! but what i would recommend is eating higher calorie foods that are so filling ie/ adding nuts or dried fruit to your oatmeal. since your having your 1st big breakfast i would suggest maybe having nuts instead of the 1 1/2 pieces of toast. im not sure of the amount of meals you usualy eat but i would recommend eating up to 6 meals a day (ie. bkfst, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack) as you wont feel so full after each meal. hope this helps! |

thanks guys! yes this does helpp butt i was kinda wondering if i use culd name the type of foods/ drinks and like how much to have.. eg/ breakfast: 1 cup milk, 1 fruit, 2 weetbix... etc etc this would realy help :) thank you soo muchh!! |

so if i up my calories to around 2500 will i eventualy be able to maintain on this? or atleast have the weight gain slow down? do you think some of the weight im gaining now on such low cals is water weight? i would really appreciate any other info you have =] thanks |

| hey ryann i just wanted to remind you (as i have overcome anorexia) that anorexia is NOT a choise and that it is a serious mental illness! so dont be to hard on her and just remember its not her fault. anorexia can be triggered by many different issues and is usualy because the person is tryin to forget other issues by focusing on food, so putting more pressure on her culd be detramental. in saying this, your mum needs help by a profecional! as much as she might not want it, things will only get worse. try going to our local GP / docter and asking her what could be done. i hope she gets better! if you ever need to talk let me know. | trustt me i know the feeling!! the bloating will go down when ur body gets used to the amount of food. as u hav starved urself for so long (like those children u see in africa) i suggest doing yoga, it keeps you feeling fit and energised without burning to much. (will also reduce bloating) it will also tone you up. you might not reaslise it now, but you need to gain this weight in order to be healthy, you dont want to end up with osteoperosis or even worse end up dead. so the sooner you get to your healthy weight the sooner you can tone up and build muscle, which will make you look leaner and feel heaps better :) | |||

| your hands are always cold because your body is using the little nutrients/energy its gettin just to keep you alive, ie pumping the heart etc, and also because you have close to no body fat. you will know that you are close to a healthy weight when your hands and feet arnt cold anymore. btw. this also happend to me, and i found out that its acctualy very serious! also you might want to take your pulse rate. make sure it is above 60bpm, if its under you need to start eating more. hope this helps. feel free to contact if you need any more advice :) | |||

| no problem :) you will stop gaining weight when your body is at a healthy weight.. or a weight it is happy with to be able to function. do you find that you have cold hands or always feel cold?? | |||

| your body will keep gaining weight untill it knows it will not go into starvation mode again. to speed up your metabalism (because it wuld b realy slow right now) i suggest eating smaller meals about 5-6 times a day and dont go longer that 3-4 hours with out any food.
as for you not loosing weight, its because your eating so little and your body is holding on to everything you do eat. btw at 5'7 110lb is still a VERY low weight!!

| well i thought that if i got skinnier i would be more attactive and happier with myself. but boy was i wrong. it was the total opposite!! guys stopped looking at me nn i icolated myself from all my friends. n i thought if i got skinny i could show off my body but instead i wore baggy clothes to hide my body cuz i was so thin!! i lookd discusting! | |||

| recovering from ed im 15 and i eat around 2700 calories a day... with no exercise and im gaining alright on that about 500 - 800 grams a week. 1000-1500 is WAY to less to eat! but congrats to those overcoming ed. if any ov use need to talk. |
