I, too, have lost 67 pounds in a year but I did it with regular visits to my Dr. He saw nothing wrong with my losses as they slowed down over time...I'm losing about 1/2 a pound a week now. I stopped losing for a while when I hit 180 and my Dr. said it was normal for my body to stop losing weight once I lost 15-20% of my original body weight. Increasing my calories for a week or two would be a good idea as it would perk up my metabolism. I did this and, once I reduced my cals, I lost again. Maybe this is what your Dr. was trying to say.

I see nothing wrong with eating maintenance, especially with Christmas coming up. Just don't go crazy and lose control. Getting all your bloodwork checked is great idea. I have low thyroid but have never had to have my meds changed since I started this journey. I get my levels checked every 3 months though.

Keep your chin up. Things will turn around.

I think my exercising is finally paying off.

On October 30th I got laid off from my landscaping job and promised myself I would get at least 90 minutes of exercise 6 days a week. First week I gained 1.4...the next I lost that 1.4 and now, three weeks later, I am finally seeing some nice losses. Shows that you have to give your body time to adjust to a new program...it takes time! Just have patience and stick with it!

2 weeks to my vacation and 2 pounds to a normal BMI - my main goal for being here!

Only 3.2 pounds to a normal BMI. Not bad for 8 weeks in...but I KNOW I wil gain most of it back on the cruise. Not worried though...it'll come off. 

This week I ran for the first time - 2.5 miles on my treadmill - nonstop!! A 12-minute mile! YAY!

My measurements:

  • Chest: 39.5

  • hips: 42.5

My motivation:

  • My husband - he married me when I was 40 pounds overweight, watched me swell to 75 pounds overweight and stuck with me while I struggled to lose it. He's wonderful, suppportive and I love him completely
  • The loss of shame - I no longer feel ashamed of the way I look. I have confidence that I never had before and I don't worry about what other people think about the way I look. It's TOTALLY uplifting!
  • Clothes - I have more clothes that I have ever had in my life. I shop at thrift stores and can always find something that fits and I love...no more sweat pants or wearing clothes until they fall apart. I use to HATE clothes shopping. Now it all I want to do!
  • Those last 5 pounds - I am SOOO close to my goal that I wake up every morning thinking that today might be the day I get there. Haven't really lost anything in a month, but it will happen, I just can't give up!

I bought a used body bugg from ebay and the person just gave me their user name and password and I went in and changed everything to match me (height, weight, etc). You have to buy a memebership to access the account 'cause your basically renewing theirs. The only thing I couldn't change was the start weight and date. Their food log sucks as there isn't much in the database so I still logged my food here.

I lost about 15 pounds using the Bodybugg, but I stopped using it cause it kept turning off while I was wearing it. It makes these weird chirping noises when it goes off and on and it was really annoying. The techs at the call center sid it was because I am always cold and the goosebumps interfere with the sensors connecting to my skin. The told me to wear more clothes - this was in JULY! That's nuts!

Besides that, I found it too time consuming. I spent a lot of time looking at the display to see how many calories I could eat...if I could sneak in a treat...downloading info..reading the reports and recommendations...measuring myself...adjusting my meal plans...I think it really overestimated my calorires burned too....sometimes it was over 4,000!

I much prefer CC...it takes less time, it seems more accurate as long as I am honest, and there is a ton of support here. I've made good friends....and they don't wake me up at night with their electronic chirping cause I rolled over and the sensors lost contact. After three nights of that, my husband made me take it off before bed! yeesh!

YAY! Got rid of that 1.4 from last week and am back where I was the end of October - my lowest weight ever that I can remember.

Measurements:
Bust 40.5-39.5= -1"
Waist 37.25-35.5= -1.75"
Hips 43.75-42.5= -1.25"
Upper Arm 13.25-12.75= -0.5"
Thigh 25-24.25= -0.75

Total Inches lost: 6.5"

This challenge really kept me going this time. I nearly gave up and went to maintenance around the middle of September, but everyone here reminded me how far I had come and that the goal was so close..."don't give up!" you said! I listened to all you wise people and got back on track.

As the numbers show, I'm finally starting to see a dramtic change in my shape. My love handles are disappearing and there are no more muffin tops over my jeans. I don't fill out my shirts the way I used to, but a proper bra fitting solved that problem nad now my girls are perkier than ever! (Can't believe that I said that!!!)

Anyway, thanks to everyone for keeping me in the fight. Looking forward to another 10 weeks where I can finally say I am not 'overweight' - only 4 pounds to go!

I think my intense exercise program may be to blame for this gain. I am sore, sore, sore which means I'm retaining water in my muscles...hopefully I'll see this gain disappear by next week - or at least before I go on vacation on the 5th

I started a new exercise program this week that involves 100 minutes of exercise every day (Saturday's off). I think my body isn't very sure of what I am doing to it as I could hardly move at one point this week. I'm planning on sticking to it - we'll see what happens next week.

Thanks, Lilygirl -- what a great idea! I had fun, felt sexy strutting my fitter self and also got more of a workout because I didn't want to stop dancing!

I love 'Brick House' - I was a version of it that adds a lot of dance beats and is set to a 4 mph walking speed. It makes me smile every time!  "36-24-36" I could only imagine! ha ha ha

I'm in. Tried this about a year ago and failed miserably. Now I'm 70 pounds lighter and dedicated to eating...so I need to exercise! ha ha I'm also out of work and don't want to end up on my butt all day, so I'm going for it! Sign me up for 2000+ I'm hoping to get to 2200, but we'll see...

Here's my workouts so far this month:

  • Nov 1 - 0
  • Nov 2 - 30min elliptical + 71min hike = 100
  • Nov 3 - 60min & 50min treadmill = 110m

I'm at 210/2000

I'll update on Saturdays, my day off. Hope everyone has a great month!
