Send a thank you. No strings should be attached to her gift. Maybe she thinks there are as in you will be in her debt. Don't mention how costly it must have been, that would just give her more ammo. Keep it short and sweet. Tell her you have completed all the wedding plans and thank her for her ideas. Tell her you will stay in touch when your schedule allows. |

Do you have siblings that can help? If you really don't want to be the sole caregiver, you don't have to be. If that's a responsibility you don't want, don't take it upon yourself. Visit a care facility in their town, choose a good one that you have thoroughly checked out and talk to them about your decision. Some people are not able to be proper caregivers for a miriad of reasons and there is nothing wrong with that. Be prepared to live with your decision, however. Make certain the decision you make does not leave you feeling guilty now or later. Good luck. |

Tell her upfront, in plain, simple terms, how you feel. Use words like I feel that you are..... Don't blame or accuse, just let her know that you feel like shes gone too far. If she continues, report her to the authorities. Hope you have a nice wedding! |

Thank you for your input. My daughter has read your posts and now realizes that she does need a more balanced diet and it isn't just her mother nagging her. She has decided to drink a protein shake daily, add fruit and eggs and oatmeal to her diet. She is willing to eat more calories from healthy foods. Thank you for your input. |

To clear up a few things.. We do not eat as healthy as we should. However, my daughter will eat chicken, turkey and small amounts of beef. She has begun eating grapefruit, apples and raspberries. My concern is not her weightloss as it may have sounded. My concern is her health and trying to get her to understand that she needs to broaden her food selections. She doesn't want to hear it from me. I've been telling her that she needs more protein, but when I suggest a food, she won't eat it. After I asked the question in this forum, she ate an egg and half a grapefruit, first time in years. That's a beginning. She used to eat a lot of sugar-filled treats and has completely cut that out. She has a strong will for dieting, which I applaud, but she has taken it too far and she won't listen to me. Thanks for all your suggestions, it is helping already! |

She continues to lose weight but it's about 3 lbs per month. What can we do to get her metabolism moving? Most importantly, she needs a better diet but won't eat seafood and doesn't like vegetables. |

Funny post Mrfreezy. I just posted my weight today. Down 3 lbs. from last week. Very happy with that number since last week's number was .5. Does everyone know how to figure percentage of weight loss? If not, here's how: Take the amount you lost and divide it by your current weight, then move the decimal to the right two places. For example: weightloss--2 lbs divided by your current weight 200= 1%. Good luck, everyone. Let's win it this week. |

Hi, I guess I am the last to check in. I've had a bad weekend. My birthday and Mother's Day. Hopefully I haven't gained. I'll try to pull it together. Edit: I'm 43 with 6 kids. I lost 20 lbs last summer and gained it all back due to asthma problems. I'm highly medicated and able to get back in the game now. I just need the motivation to quit eating!! |

My problem with Helen is this: She drills it into everyone's head that she "can't believe she did it". It being anything she does. She's starved for attention and she only talks about what she's accomplished. I understand accomplishment is what the show is about but, Helen, we know. We watched you. Stop already! I understand wanting acknowledment for what you do as a mother. Let's face it though, we are not celebrities who get awards for doing our job. Be grateful that you daughter gives you the acknowledgement you deserve and just be happy that you love doing what you do. Get yourself a mother's day gift and let your husband know about it. Maybe he'll get the hint. By the way, I Really do understand that you feel unappreciated. But, do we need one day that makes us feel that way? It's just another day and move on. |

I tried Alli when it first came out. I even doubled the dose of Alli and didn't see any results, not even the side effects. It was a complete waste of money. What did help me lose weight was diet and exercise. Even though I have gained it back again. |
