So, should I bump up my cal intake from 1200 to 1500 in order to eat at my BMR? |

I totally feel your pain! I gained up from 108 to 128 on 1600 calories in two weeks! How come some people can eat 3000 a day and LOSE?! It's not fair...I want to eat that much... |

Thanks for all the good advice! So does this mean that all the fat I gained went to my chest and I should keep gaining so some more goes other places? Or am I okay where I am? |

I have trouble with that solution though. I was never diagnosed with an ED, but I showed anorexic behavior that I recognized, but hid from everyone else. I decided that I need to recover, and it has been going well until like, two days ago. So, I don't want to tell my parents or anyone about my food issues now that I'm recovering. Plus, 115 is where my doctor said I could be at my last visit (my mom took me in because I was so thin--103) |

I'll definetly ask my parents to get rid of the scale. I still had somebody tell me I looked 'anorexic' today and it made me feel bad. I don't know why. |

Thanks for all the good advice. Although I still feel like a cow, I think I can fight it off eventually, it will just take time. |

I don't get bloated anymore and I'm still eating 1600. Is that bad? |

If I keep eating at around 1600 (which is what I gained to 125 on, and what I lost to 115 on, previosly) will my weight start to go down again if I don't up my calories? |

Wow! I am SOOO in the same boat. I was at 103 (I'm 5'7") and I just got sick of eating 1000 cal a day and I bumped it up to 1600 on nonexcersise days and 2000 on excersise days. I gained up to 125 in FOUR WEEKS!! I started to freak out a little, but I just stopped weighing myself and I'm starting to feel better about myself, even though sometimes I still feel like a whale. |

I know that I'm a "growing teenager", but I've been at 5'7" for like a year and a half! Does that mean I still need to eat 2100 calories just to maintain? |

Just to make it clear, I'm not trying to lose weight, I'm just wondering if I will and if I should up my calories. Technically, I can be as low as 110 at my age. I don't really want to stay at 125-130. I know it's not fat, but I want to just be back at around 115. Is that all that bad? |

Okay, I have a related question: So, I when I was losing, I was eating around 1500-1600 cal a day and I lost down to 110 on that. Now that my weight is higher than 110 (recovering) from eating around 1500-1600, will I start to lost back to 110 once my metabolism restarts? |

Oh my gosh. I am totaly in the same boat. Four weeks ago, I weighed 110. and now I weigh 130!!! It will stop eventually. When your body is healthy again. Don't cut back calories. Just keep at it. You are beautiful. :) Good luck! |

| Health & Support | help and support please... i think i'm developing an ED | Apr 06 2008 23:26 (UTC) |

Wow. This seriously sounds like the story of my life. Last year, I went from 130 lb to 113 in about 3 months (I'm 5'7"). I remember one specific moment when I was standing on the scale and I said to myself: "Okay, 110, but no lower..." I went down to 110. Then 108. Then 105. Then 100. I didn't talk to my parents and that was a MISTAKE. As a consequence, I have had to recover from this alone. I never told anyone, so it has made my recovery much, much harder. Please don't be afraid to 'burden' them. You developing an ED would be even more of a burden. Trust me. Good luck. Love yourself. :) |

Oh my gosh. Thanks you guys SO MUCH. This site has helped me so much in increasing my self-esteem. I will go right now to the mirror, tell myself how awesome I am, and tell ED to go jump in a lake, becaue I don't need him. Not anymore. |

Oh, I feel your pain, babe. I feel like a freakin' blow up doll. Like all poofy and gross. But it does go away. Also, just repeat to yourself: "I'm not fat, I'm bloated". I stole it from another CC member, I won't take credit. I increased from 1000 calories to 1600 overnight and oh my goodness did I feel like a COW. But you are beatiful and it's all for the better in the ends, I promise. Good luck! You are gorgeous and you deserve it! :D |

Thanks for the good advice! But I haven't really told anyone about my eating issues. I was never diagnosed with an ED, but I recognize now that I was exhibiting extremely anorexic behavior. I lost a lot of weight and lied about why I lost it. So no one really knows about it and now that I am recovering, I see not reason to worry them all... I kind of wish I had told them. It might have been easier that way. |

| Weight Gain | Recovery - planning, thinking, eating food again! ARGH! | Apr 02 2008 23:17 (UTC) |

My goodness, darling. Maybe if you had more variety in your diet, you would enjoy it more! I think you should try for 1500 a day, or at least 1000 to start off with, because eating 700 is not going to help you. You actually won't gain significantly. I'd say just stop counting calories for like, one day, and see how you like it. With me, I have to force myself not to count or I start to restrict and I had to gain weight, so I couldn't allow that. And I've gone from 103 lb to 115 (at 5'7"). It's hard, but just tell yourself that you are BEAUTIFUL and you deserve to feel that way. |

| Weight Gain | starvation mode? | Mar 30 2008 21:30 (UTC) |

"Starvation mode" is when your metabolism becomes very, VERY slow. So therefore, when you begin eating normally again, weight is gained very quickly at first; I know, it happened to me. However, I think it's mostly water anyway. You may become hypermetabolic later, which means that your body suddenly needs a TON of calories to maintain/gain, so if you are hungry, by all means, EAT! :D Good luck, darlin'! |

I have experienced the same thing happening to me! I have gained 10 pounds in the last 2 weeks, (from 110 to 120 at 5'7"). It seems like a lot, but we need it! Your metabolism will probably recover and your weight will stabalize. Good luck! You are beautiful and you deserve to feel it! |
