Here are I am at a pretty low weight, though I can't remember how much I weigh. But you can see my hip bone well pronounced. Mind the gynecomastia :(

Here are my average calorie counts per month. In July and August I was doing hardcore strength training, thus the bump in calories.

I'm 6' tall and weighed 275 back in January of last year. I now weigh 152ish and was at about 146ish at my leanest (this was back in November.)

Check my profile for pics, though I have not uploaded any pics of me in the 150s or 140s. I will shortly though.

August 2200

October 1870

I did at least 30 minutes of cardio (treadmill) each day (6 days a week) as well.

clharr,

Yes, I know some of the weight I gained was water weight, but without a doubt, I put on at least 5 lbs of real weight. I gained about 15 lbs, but I already lost 10 of those lbs. The last 5 remained as pure fat.

Just keep a reasonable calorie deficit and over time your belly will shrink. I'm pretty much in the same predicament now. I overdid it this holiday season and packed on a horrible belly. It's gross, it sucks and there's really only one way to get rid of it: Keep a deficit.

I don't think you're unique, by any means. And if you understand what's happening then you're well-placed to stop it. Your starvation diet to lose weight probably triggered the problem... bingeing follows starving as sure as night follows day. You may be 'eating right' but if you're still not eating enough or if your food choices are poor then you could be low on energy and nutrition..... both of which will cause your body to look for quick-fix top ups in the form of (you guessed it) sugary, fatty, starchy foods like cakes and sweets. It becomes a vicious circle. Punishing compensatory exercise is not the solution, as you probably realise. Disordered eating takes many forms and that unfortunately is one of them.

Take a step back.... planning & structure are going to get you out of this behaviour pattern and back in the driving seat.

Think about your food day in advance. However many calories you need to mantain your weight, work out a way to plan that into your day. A sedentary adult male needs around 2500 cals... an active man needs a lot more. Are you getting that much? Aim for regular meals, light snacks, wholesome food choices and a good balance. If you wake up with a good appetite have a hearty breakfast on the cards to get your energy levels up right from the off. Rather than sweets and cakes, how about eggs, wholemeal toast, oatmeal, fruit juice.... same energy boost but more nourishing and satisfying. The CC food log works really well as a planning tool. And make it easier for yourself to eat well. If you don't have cookies and brownies in the cupboards you won't eat them for breakfast... guaranteed.

Hope something in there helps.

Hi,

Just wondering where you got this figure from? I'm wondering 'cause I'm a guy and am pretty damn sedentary these days. I'm about 6' tall and weigh about 151 lbs. Most online calculators tell me I burn about 2,100 calories per day. Think I can eat 2,500 calories per day and maintain?

I gained 1.5" to 2" around my waistline this Holiday season. It sucks, but that's just the way it is. All's I can do now is learn from my mistakes, be reasonable, and go back to a healthy lifestyle. I probably put on 5 to 9 lbs of pure fat. I'm presently looking to lose that excess weight and hope to do it in a healthy, realistic way. Hopefully in a month or two, I will be back to my lean self. I was at like I 149 lbs pre-Holidays, now I'm at about 156...

No reason you should be smoking unless it's medicinal. Quit smoking and you won't have to deal with poor eating.

600 calories for the day is completely unreasonable unless you're under Dr's orders; and even then I question the practice.

pizza and cereal. Though I'm learning to control myself by pairing each item with filling low cal items. 1 slice of pizza with a giant salad; 1.5 cups cereal, 1 cup skim milk, 1 cup strawberries.

Weight Loss what is going on with me Sep 24 2008

it's not fat, just fluid retention. It'll take a bit to flush it all out, but it will come off. I go up by as much as 8 lbs in fluid.

Drink lots of water and green tea and restrict your sodium intake and it may come off faster.

I'm ever so close to having a true 6 pack. Weird thing is, I haven't done a lick of ab training; just general strength training. Today I could see my 6 pack clear as day without even having to jiggle the thin sheet of fat over my belly. Just gotta drop that last bit of fat and the 6-pack will be in full force.

Foods Is Pizza that bad for you Sep 20 2008

The only problem is that it's generally a calorie rich food (not to mention high sodium.)

It's, therefore, very easy to accumulate a calorie surplus by eating pizza. I know that I, for instance, have to have my fill of pizza and find it very hard to stick to a small piece or two.

Good job on checking yourself with the pizza. A lesser man would have crumbled *points at self*

I didn't workout yesterday either, but I kept my diet under control. I managed to keep an estimated 300 calorie deficit.

I gotta listen to my body this week. I didn't workout yesterday 'cause I figured this is the only week I've taken off in months,; might as well give my body as much rest as possible. I really was tired yesterday anyway. Went to bed at 8 pm.

I'm ok with the relatively low physical activity 'cause I'm  controlling myself well enough. It's not like I'm slacking off just to slack off. I need to rest.
