Thank you resabg3!  I'm definitely lacking in the motivation department right now.

I was sick all weekend so did not work out on my trainer's schedule.  Not to mention I a binged a bit...just couldn't help myself!  I was home in bed the whole weekend and ravenous!

Who knows what will happen tomorrow!

I need some motivation!

Just had my first meeting with the trainer this evening.  Unfortunately, I'm at 1500 calories for weight loss!  Which means I've been eating more than I should (1600).

I'm crossing my fingers for tomorrow!!!

Go team 1!

Fitness How do I know if I have a good personal trainer? Apr 29 2008

Okay, just started with my trainer this evening.  She has me on three different circuts using two or more muscle groups at once and also on a cardio plan.  More machines than free weights.  I'm going to go with this and ask about the free weights in a month when we change things again.  I know she uses them herself because I've seen her.

This month we are on more reps, she said next month we'd go to less reps and heavier weights.

I have a shoulder issue and a knee issue I need to get checked at the doctor.  I have an appt set for May 16th.

The metabolic test says I should be eating 1500 calories a day for weight loss.

I can feel a difference tonight just having changed my workout!

Well, I have already lost 10 lbs and have had a lot of people tell me that they notice which is a huge plus for me.  Having people tell me they notice really matters.

One of my friends apologized for that saying, "not that you looked bad before."  I am just not going to be offended by that, I'd rather have people notice...that's part of losing the weight!

Also, summer is coming.  I am in MN - you guys, we got 10 inches of snow last night...

So maybe summer is coming.  Getting that much snow is very odd (even for MN) this time of year.  But, I got another weekend of covering up which works for me.

I'm here full on!  I visit for the first time with a trainer tomorrow at 6am for a metabolic assessment.

Going to nail down exactly how many calories I should be consuming and what I am burning off when I work out.  I'm crossing my fingers they will tell me to be eating more!

I'm expecting to lose at least 1 lb next week as I plateaued last week and have been very good.

Thank you!  I believe she is in school for fitness.  I believe she is in a graduate program (she is appears more my own age (30) so not a kid).  She works at the YMCA and they have a fitness director.  He will be the one doing my metabolic assessment and I will start my training with her.

I will make sure to use your suggestions, although I feel funny asking for references after already setting up an appt with her.  I can ask her boss about her during my assessment though.

Way to go Team 1!!!

Starting Weight: 148

Week 1 - 147

Week 2 - 145

This weeks weight loss - 2 lbs!

Total weight loss - 3 lbs! (for me this is huge because it's all belly fat I've had for years...hard to get rid of)

I'm off my plateau!

Transformation your body is probably just in a little bit of shock.  Give it time, DON'T give up...if you read back, I was on a plateau up until this weekend.  I work out 5 days a week too so i know how you feel when you work so hard and don't get the results you were expecting.  Just keep going, it will happen.

Well, this morning I was back to my plateau number.  :(  We'll see what it looks like tomorrow.  Could have been a fluke I guess.

Lifting weights and taking a step class this evening.  Should make a difference.

vegan-  I have read that women in relationships tend to gain weight because they start fixing more meals and then end up eating similar to their husbands and/ or boyfriends who actually need the extra calories.  Did the weight creep up on you when he moved in?   Just something to consider (if you haven't already).

Remember gang...This is the time to finally get our weights where we want to be and create the lives we want.  Let's go for it.

We have the heart to make this happen!

A couple of years ago my mom found out she weighed as much as my dad and had the realizaion..."I've been eating as much as him why shouldn't we weigh the same."  Anyway, since then she's been very careful with portion control.  That is so true...easy to do if you don't consider too.

WELL TODAY I THINK I BROKE MY PLATEAU!!!  I'm not holding my breath or anything, we'll see what tomorrow brings but I got on the scale today and was 3 lbs lighter than yesterday.  It has been 17 days since I have changed in either direction of 1 lb.

I'm so excited!  I was really bumming out...eating 1600 calories a day, all "whole" foods, lifting 3 days a week, cardio 5 days a week.  I'm 5'8" with a small frame and it didn't seem right to eat less, plus my calorie deficit has been between 1000 and 500 lbs and I hear you aren't supposed to go more than that.

Yeaaaah!  GO TEAM ONE!

Well, I hate to be a downer but a heads up: I am on a plateau.  Do not know what to do about this?  Very frustrating.  I've only changed up/down by a pound since March 27th.

I made an appointment with a personal trainer for 4/28 (can't be stuck like this forever).  But, I am still really going to try to lose the 15 lbs I said I would in these weeks!

Good thing is, I have lost about an inch around my waste so my hard work is paying.  All the fat I need to lose is around my waste.

Faulker1 nice job on the 3+ lbs!!!

I'm trying to lose almost all belly fat (probably about 80%)...it is so hard!!!

I do cardio 5 days per week, lift weights 3 days per week and have a 1000-500 calorie deficit every day.

I am on a whole foods balanced diet and eating 6 times per day.

That's what it takes to lose one pound of belly fat.

ARgh!

Once it's off, it's not going back on!

My start date was March 10th at 155 lbs, Today is 147 so I am motivated!

today 147!

Last week was tough!  Yeah, only a pound but I'm never going to be able to lose 2 lbs in a week anyway.  I'd LIKE to, but that's not going to happen!

That's too bad he's not doing percentage.  I wonder why not, percentage seems more fair then pounds in this case.

Thank you Melkor, that's what I needed.

I'm going to take two days off a week for sure.  Work 3 days heavy and 2 days light and I think that will be a good mix.

My calorie deficit is usually between 1000 and 500; never over 1000.  I'm also on a "whole foods" diet.  Eating 6 times a day.

BTW on a whole foods diet, you have to eat A LOT of food to actually get in enough calories.  Not complaining about that at all!

I worked out for two hours - 45 minutes step class, 15 minutes core conditioning class, 60 minutes weigh lifting.

I feel great!  And tired!

I ate 1750 for calories today too.

Hopefully, I'll drop an lb for weigh in tomorrow!!!

Well, yesterday I did a 45 minute step class and also lifted free weights for about an hour.  THEN I went to my friends 40th b-day party and drank wine and snacked at the hors d'oeurve table.  I think I was somewhere around 2600 calories and then I stopped counting.

Today, I took a 45 minute spinning class and ate 1400 calories (all very healthy).

It's also ttom so we'll see what weighing in on Tuesday looks like.

Monday is step class and weights again so hopefully things will work out well.

Great job taking the stairs!

I think we're going to kick butt on this.

Sooooo, what are everyone's stats?

I'm 29, F, 5'8" 147lbs - need to lose 13lbs

My favorite form of exercise is step class, I don't like weight lifting but I do it 3 days a week.  I walk when I can and I have a horse I ride 3 days a week too.

On a low calorie, whole foods diet.  No processed anything.

I'm single with no kids so my life is pretty much all my own.   I love to cook and like trying new recipes...I'll eat just about anything which makes dieting very hard for me.

Melkor thank you very much for the top ten list.  That was very interesting.

It did confirm something new I tried this week...bigger breakfast and more calories pre-workout has dramatically changed the amount of energy, strength and endurance I have.

I was shocked, actually.  I'm going to add more weight my next weight workout.  I'm not ready for another riser on my step yet but I was able to do all the high options this last class which has never happened before.

you can't drown on a treadmill, so what is your concern?

lol - I was just wondering if it made a difference as far as calories burned, nutrients used, etc.

I think I read on here somewhere that it is optimal to "drink a protein shake the second that weight hits the ground" when weight lifting.

Wasn't sure if there was any other timing things I should know about.
