Health & Support anyone who has taken med for anxiety/depression?? Jun 24 2008

Prozac is the least likely to cause weight gain and it really helps with EDs and panic attacks.  I was a complete mess before they finally decided to put me on it. I owe my life to Prozac so don't be afraid of it.  And, yes, you can come off of it quickly if you don't like the way it makes you feel, but I can't think of any side effects execept loss of appetite that I ever experienced from it.

(Don't panic... I gained all my weight myself, the Prozac had nothing to do with it :P)

that really is an awesome idea.  For people like myself who love animals, but can't have them due to apartment restrictions, this sounds like a great way to help both yourself, your fitness level, and a pup who needs a friend and like the previous poster said some training to get them ready for their forever home.

I love this idea :)

Wow! So many responses.  The more the merrier!  I think i've added everyone who responded to my buddy list, I really wish I knew more about starting a group :/

EDIT: I guess the group setup here is to add friends and then support each other through commenting on journal posts and progress and answering questions and being encouraging.  So, make sure to add everyone to your friends list that posted to the board and we'll have a nice little support system going on!

Nice to meet you all and we can soooo do this!!

Weight Loss Do Beta Blockers reduce calorie's burned? Jun 18 2008

From a pharmaceutical opinion, I can't really speak as to the effects of beta blockers on calories burned.  However, I do know that patients taking beta blockers should not use target heart rate charts developed for people not taking the medications.

Your doctor should be able to help you determine what your target heart rate should be during exercise.

Hope this helps.

i'm 28 years old, 5'8'', right now i'm 450+ pounds (my scale stops at 450 so really not sure how much over I am).

My goal weight is 150 but i'd honestly be ecstatic just to be below 200.

I work at a sit down job.  I've just recently started stationary bicycling for 15 minutes per day (increasing by 5 minutes per week hopefully)  which doesn't seem like much I know but it's really hard when you're this large and doing the sit down weight training exercises for obese people  in the exercise section of the site which I've found really helpful and can feel them working my muscles.

I don't have much experience with working out that much, but adding some protein to your breakfast should help keep you feeling fuller longer and add some energy that your body needs with those strenuous workouts.
