Fitness what to eat before an early morning workout? Apr 18 2007
21:45 (UTC)
If I work out in the morning I usually eat a small bowl of cereal, protein shake, oatmeal w/banana or raisins, or a piece of fruit. If it's on the weekends I'll eat scrambled eggs or a bran muffin.  I try not to eat something too heavy but something heavy enough to hold me over.  Hope this helps.
Health & Support Does BIRTH CONTROL make you gain weight? Mar 23 2007

I have tried about 10 different kinds of b/c.  Most made me very sick (throwing up the second I woke up till noon-you could time it)  I did gain some weight. The one I took the longest and most recent was Yasmin....it was great! No weight gain and no "up-and-down" emotions.  However, over the last two years my side affects became worse and more noticeable to where it interferred with my life.  I would be sick, couldn't pay attention, couldn't wear my contacts, migranes you name it.

I recently decided to quit taking them. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS TO SOMEONE WHO ISN'T IN A COMMITED RELATIONSHIP.  Now I feel soooo much better.  B/c pills affect people differently and my case is probably more extreme then others....I would suggest to try something different if you have bad side affects.  I liked Yasmin and Yaz because of their low dosage and their different type of hormones.  Good luck

I would suggest anything chicken (without the thick sauce) and rice OR....

Sushi.  I love anything sushi.  I know most people think it's all raw fish but it really isn't.  If you've never had it go for a California roll (usually has (cooked of course) shrimp, cucumber, rice) or a Bagel roll (usually has cream cheese, smoked salmon, rice) Spicy Tuna roll (usually has Tuna (this one is raw, but tuna is sooo good) diced and mixed with a spicy sause and is then rolled in rice.  One roll usually has 6-8 pieces.  Plus it's filling because of the rice and has great flavor.   Hope this helped.

Many people tell me I look like Tara Reid (during her good days).  I've actually had a girl in Publix stalk me whenever I went shopping.  She makes a huge scene!  It's pretty embarrasing.

I absolutely love Jamie Presley and Pamala Anderson's bodies (hey what can I say, those Blonde's are hot).

Foods This is bad, I know. When I am feeling like a chocolate candy bar, what do you suggest? Oct 19 2006

Just like some of the other posts have said, count it into your daily caloric intake and maybe eat a piece of dark chocolate.  You just can't deprive yourself of the goodness of chocolate because before you know it your cravings will take over and you'll binge.

I'm a chocoholic, yes, I actually get headaches if I don't eat a little bit every day.  Chocolate is not bad it just becomes "bad" when we mix it with other things to make it into a candy bar and eat too much of it.

What I do to satisfy my cravings is this, I eat a little bit of solid dark chocolate or a little bit of milk chocalote if that's all I have.  For example, I keep semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips in the cabinet, when I crave it I take a small palm full and eat one or two at a time (it makes it last longer :) )  I have sworn of "candy bars" (snickers, twix etc.)     Hope this helps.

The Lounge For the ladies: Does anyone take or has taken Yasmin? Oct 17 2006

I have been taking Yasmin for about two years now.  This is probably the 10th (no exageration) type of pill/BC I've tried in the last 6 years.  I've noticed that it doesn't put on extra weight or bloating, no mood swings unlike the rest.  But I have noticed that in the last few weeks/month I'm getting more headaches, that could be a hormone/chemical inbalance though.  I'm also looking into the mini pill to see if that will straighten me out.

Everyone and their bodies respond different to BC pills just keep that in mind, noone responds the same.  For example, a lot of people respond well to "the patch" I didn't.  I stuck it on my thigh and about 10 hours later I was puckin' sick.  Anyways, if that one doesn't work ask to try something else, you never know what could work for you!

In all seriousness, ninav does have a good point.  I also believe that taking vitamins and supplements in general are extremely important especially when you are dieting.  It helps every part of your body to become stronger and healthy.  Dieting and healthy living isn't just about losing weight, nutrition in very important as well.

I think it could swing either way.  Some lose weight and look older some look younger.  I think it depends on the peron, their body structure and face structure(since the face is what is usually the first thing people notice).  Personally I've noticed that when I wear glasses  people think I look smarter.

I'm at the maintenance level.  I would like to loose the extra 2.5 lbs. but I think it will happen with time.    But if I don't then I would be ok because I'm very happy where I'm at.  I'm actually kind of proud of myself for maintaining 122-125lbs. for the past 9 months now.  As long as I stick to a healthy lifestyle and feel good about myself I'm happy.

Hi, I'm 5'9", ok...it's not as tall as some of you (with heals it is) but tall enough not to be able to find jeans/pants that fit.  I hate going shopping for pants, I do agree that Gap has a great selection for tall women.  I have been "blessed" with a younger sister who is 5' 10/11"-ish and we used to share clothes, especially jeans (we live in different states now).  I currently weigh 124lbs. and am working on maintaining, counting calories and just staying healthy.

Weight Loss Can't Lose Weight...Can It Be My BIRTH CONTROL??? May 16 2006
16:29 (UTC)

I believe that certain birth control does add weight.  I have been through many different types for many different reasons.  Jasmin has been the absolute best.  Most people that I know who use it have no negative oppinions about it.  It does what it's made to do and doesn't effect weight, mood, cravings etc.   I think that most BC pills 'make' your cravings stronger to where it is much more likely to give in.   But remember everyone is different.  So see what works for you and talk with your gyno.

I drink a cup of water right before I eat. And if there is a pot luck lunch I eat a banana or apple or veggie mid morning so I'm not 'starving' by the time the pot luck starts.  Try a little bit of everything like some of the other posts recommended.  This way you don't deprive yourself and you won't offend anyone.  You'll be fine and enjoy your pot luck!!!!!

Do you eat out or stay home?  i've got some ideas that might help.

I'm from europe (Holland) and when I go home it's hard to resist all the good food.  Europeans do eat smaller portions and they do cook with more non-processed foods but a lot of food still can be high in fat and/or calories.  I could forward (e-mail) you some tips and receipes if you like.

isusiubeste...I am european so I get the 'red affect' more easily than others but not as bad as some. I usually take about 3-4 Vitamin C tablets before I go out.  If I go all day I'll bring extra to take midday.  Once I've done that I only have to use 15 SPF instead of 45 SPF, this way I still get a tan.  Everyone is different so see what works for you. Have a great trip, I'm sure you'll have LOTS of fun.

Speaking of Supplements......here is a tip.

I used to live in Florida and went to the beach just about every weekend.  If you take extra Vitamin C right before you go sun tan or do activities in the sun it will help you not get burnt as easily.  It keeps your skin from getting the lobster look.  Of course you need to put on sunscreen for ray protection but Vitamin C works wonders...TRUST ME.

I take;

Vitamin A, B, C, E, Multi-Vitamin, Zinc - for many different reasons.

Iron- I have to eat on a regular basis or i'll get real light headed (low blood-sugar).  Iron helps keep me more leveled.

Multi-Mineral-Many bottled waters barely have minerals in them compared to what you would get out of tap water.  Your body needs Minerals for many different things, muscles, bones etc.. Sometimes I'll aslo take a Calcium tablet for bone structure but I do drink A LOT of milk so I don't take them on a regular basis.
