whoops! yes sorry about the typo.. most definately dooont take inSulin. that would be..... bad. to say the least.

lalabanana: had a bad experience with bisacodyl myself. it's violent. i passed out in the middle of the night when i tried to get to the toilet.

basically.. all laxatives are a nono. you want to fix the problem, not medicate it (not to mention make it WORSE in the longrun). your doctor will throw laxatives at you very easily, but its because its such a common problem. if, however, you really do suffer with bad constipation....... fibre, it is our friend. and the one and only substance that can FIX digestive problems

hi there.

i had the same problem. was dependant on nerve stimulating laxatives which left me, weak, dizzy, vomitting. i had to do this once a week just to 'clear'

the only, i repeat the ONLY, thing that has helped me go naturally is inulin powder. now, if you're friend really wants this problem resolved, she !!!WILL!!! take this. i have been to hell and back with my bowels.

insulin inulin is a prebiotic, it's from chicory root. it's all natural... her body will LOVE IT. you can take as much as you want, in tea or coffee, or whatever. i started off on about 5 heaped teaspoonfuls a day. you'll need to take less and less as your bowels regulate themselves and stop relying on laxatives. don't let her take it for two days and then give up. she should have a natural bowel movement in a few days.. just have patience. and and the best thing is, you have natural, painless movement usually right after drinking your tea/coffee. i sound like a salesperson for this stuff, i swear i would be. it's the only health supplement i have real convinction in. and.... best of all, its just fibre. but its the type of fibre thats important.

Foods Are you feeding your kids the worst breakfast possible? Oct 23 2008

cereal isn't "good" for you. full stop. in most cases you'd be better eating a fried egg and bacon. and yeahyeah i know people are fed up of hearing the "protein BS" but that's what us humans are supposed to be eating to nourish ourselves. protein is what we've evolved eating. it's what comes naturally to us.

cereal bars are my real pet peeve. how they can market those things as healthy. low calorie = healthy? NO! apart from the fact that they weigh like 20g and keep you full for all of ten minutes.

when i have kids, ima try so hard to feed them well. no "special k challenges" or "weetabix weeks"

hi guys. im another anorexic turned binge eater (there's a lot of us apparently). it's weird. i've felt so alone in this, but reading all these comments makes me realise.. it's the exact same mentality for all of us.

i also like the thing that spaceoddity said about the food not going anywhere. it's crazy how i can convince myself that if i don't eat that thing, right away, really quick, i will never be able to. it's almost primitive the impulsiveness i feel in that moment.

binging is an odd syndrome. it's like, you're constantly beating yourself up about it.. tomorrow is a new day.. ill make up for it somehow. before you know it 2, 4, 6 months have passed and you're in the exact same state of mind. it's total self sabotage for me. i've realised that i punish myself in many aspects of my life.. i am working towards making a real change (i hope, i think). the best thing we can do is remember our lives are worth more than an eating disorder.

my mum won't let me near ANY artificial sweeteners. there is alot that the FDA don't tell people about our food. my mum banned aspartame from our house when i was a child.. long before they finally admitted it can cause cancer. anyhoo, if you're really against sugar.. stevia is brilliant. it's a herb and has zero calories. it also tastes alot better than any of the other sweeteners i've tasted.

Hiya, you're probably in america so I don't know how helpful this is. I buy mine from a shop called 'Premium Wellness' on ebay.. they're UK based but ship worldwide too. It's called NuNaturals NuStevia. If you're buying from somewhere else.. make sure you buy the stuff with 'no bitter aftertaste' because the unaltered stuff IS really bitter! Stevia is great stuff :)

this woman is my doctor and saw me through when i was ill with ME. i am also prone to candida in the gut. this is why i personally eat a low carb diet. http://www.drmyhill.co.uk/article.cfm?id=288 (am i allowed to post that?)

for me, its more about the carb content of bread.. also the fact that it's pretty nutrionally empty compared to most food i eat. i do eat it ocassionally but i'd rather have a portion of brown rice for dinner than a piece of bread for lunch. i keep my carbs to one meal per day (this is excluding sugar in fruits of course..) so yeah, for me it's not exactly "junk" food, just something i tend to avoid because it doesn't seem a worthy part of my daily diet!

Foods if calories were non existant, what would you eat EVERYDAY? Jun 07 2008

this reminds me of a man that was on This Morning.. he had a rare condition in which his body couldn't metabolise calories. they were asking him if he went mad and ate loads of junk and he was like "no, i have to look after and respect my health just like everyone else. i eat nutritious food." i'd be the same as him if calories weren't an issue. but if nutrition weren't an issue i would be pretty damn self indulgent.. haha

some of my old favourites.. ham and cheese toasties, chilli chicken wraps with sour cream, creamy spinach, tobacco onions, hagen daazs praline and cream icecream, crepes, cashew butter, banoffee pie with plenty of fresh whipped cream, profiteroles with hot chocolate sauce, ham and mushroom pizza from this local restaurant with garlic mayo dip (oh my lord...), XL sized bars of galaxy chocolate (couldve easily got through one of these at night infront of the tv), chicken pasanda, spaghetti cabonara, cheesy mash

seriously guys, i could go on..

these arent foods! sorry probably should have specified that. i really don't think it's down to what you eat. i have pretty much a stone aged diet.

but ground flax might help, but it doesnt matter what i eat.. still nothing.. and im assuming youre in pretty much the same situation!

seriously, im not getting any movement either. at all. ive taken every laxative under the sun at this stage. but we both know that it only makes things worse.

do a salt water flush for relief. and then try p&b shakes (research on google) also look into vit C flushes, castor oil packs.. and try colonic irrigation. im still in the process of trying to get my bowels to move naturally. i know how distressing it is!

Weight Loss St. Patty's Day Mar 19 2008
21:48 (UTC)

ahhh i just found this on wiki.

The consumption of corned beef is associated with Saint Patrick's Day, when many Irish Americans eat a traditional meal of corned beef and cabbage. According to the History Channel, while cabbage has become a traditional food item for Irish-Americans, corned beef was originally a substitute for bacon in the late 1800s. [2] Irish immigrants living in New York City's Lower East Side sought an equivalent in taste and texture to their traditional Irish bacon, and learned about this cheaper alternative to bacon from their Jewish neighbors.

Weight Loss can too much fruit make you fat? Mar 19 2008

no but you might try cutting down on them and eating some more veggies. fruit is naturally high in sugar, so if you're looking at it from a health rather than a weight perspective..

not that fruit is unhealthy, but you know what i mean. :)

is corned beef and cabbage tradition? i'm actually from ireland, i've never eaten it before. well obviously seperately. people more commonly eat cabbage with bacon.

Thanks for replying :) It's nice to know you're here anyway, sometimes I begin to panic and wish I could talk to someone who has actually FELT my symptoms

Well it fluctuates an awful lot.. but lets just say if I led a normal life.. I wouldn't be able to stand! I'm going through a relatively good spot atm so I can go out for a wee walk maybe three times a week. Wee walk meaning about 10 minutes at a moderate pace. There was a few months there where I couldn't get out of bed or even lift my head some days... but i was eating like normal so.. you know how it goes..

Yoga sounds like a great idea, I'll talk to my mum about it.

I have great difficulty with my arms more than anything else.. I basically can't lift them above my head for more than ten seconds but i suppose its all about adapting and concentrating on what you can do :)

I have this linwoods flaxseed, pumpkin seed and goji berry mix. You can put it in anything, porridge, yoghurts. It doesn't taste like much but you're getting LOADS more fibre.

I think linwoods is Irish though but you may find it on the internet :)
