K I have a butt hump also, and looking at my mother for my genes apparantly I can get fairly slim and it won't go away, WHICH IS SO BAD BECAUSE I HAVE NO ASS. It doesn't help ANYTHING. |

I have 2 goals, one is to reach 140 (in which case I will be satisfied if I can do no more) and the other is like, 120/125 (which is unreasonable and unrealistic but hay, I can dream can't I?) I'm lucky that I got into a financially stable-ish type of position, I can support buying new clothes (which i also need for work) so for now the shopping is not only necessary but also fun and encouraging. I get stuck at 160, but I figured if I got to 150 I'd buy a huge fancy hat and go to see the dinosaurs. If I got 120 I'd buy a bikini and get a tattoo. (I put those rewards at that because I'd never get there, and that's the likelihood that I would get a tattoo) I become pleasantly surprised to realize as my arm is pressed against me that I can actually feel my hip bone ... or how my upper stomach is becoming smaller and harder. I can't wait to see my collar bone though :D |

Prepare to let the rage trample all over my view, apparently I offend people when i bring all this up.
Ya, I'm on atkins, still in strong support of it. So I've been reading studies and people can eat up to 2, 900 calories a day on it and still lose weight while someone else can eat under recommended calorie intake can gain the weight. Even though I'm in support of this, I also realize everyone has their own "problems" and it's that problem you need to understand and tackle. My problem is it's been carbs every single meal and snack and over eating the carbs for my entire life. So this diet works for me :D btw being in the "induction" phase (first two weeks) I have less than 20 grams of carbs a day. |

Giving everyone a turn to cook would have been to scary a thought for my family. When I was younger my family philosophy was, on most nights, "fend for yourself". Which meant finding whatever leftovers were available and trying to eat them before anyone else saw. I admit the super mom thing is rediculous, I feel kind of bad being the kid whose every other words were "what's for dinner?" Maybe I can make a healthy suggestion or two for simple meals that are actually simple and don't require too much prep/clean up time (my life at the moment by the way).
Now that I think of it there's not so many options, I buy a frozen bag of stir fry, makes making stir fry real easy. I often get microwavable meals, only one kind though, the rest are quite awful. My uncle made supper when he passed through here, it was like, mango, papaya, pinapple, oranges, dragonfruit, just a massive variety of fruits, and then tomatoe cut up, cheese, and french bread, a little variety meal. A good option is to replace anything ground beef with ground turkey (did you know there's less cals and fat in a turkey burger than in a veggie burger? I know, it's weird) turkey wins.
Yay now I have to goto my second job for 8 hours on a saturday morning ~.~ |

ok so this thread is not in such heavy traffic. Anyway, artistsusan, I'm a teachers aid for an art program at this city's gallery. I noticed that three sisters are vegans, and basically the last day we gave out cupcakes to everyone and they said "we aren't allowed treats" I said, "Oh it's probably the dairy in it" and they said "no ... we're just not allowed treats". The youngest is 5, quite young, I gave one to her first without the other two knowing and she just ate it all up ^_^ That was on friday, I wonder how much fu nthe teacher had dealing with the parents. So it basically started me thinking, "treat" in adult terms means reward: "treat yourself". When the children say "we aren't allowed treats" it makes them look like bad children, although they mean it in a different way. Here's the question: Should parents be allowed to force vegan habits or eating healthy on children? I have heard that eating healthy as a child can expand their lifespan 30 years. Right there you should say "My childs health is more important than something tasty". However I believe that depriving a child of something like pizza their whole life, when they live on their own and goto a party and their friend orders pizza hut, what's going to happen? They'll probably try new things, and in my own opinion, they'd immediately indulge. The point is, it doesn't hurt to enforce children to eat healthier. It also gives you benefits and whatnot, personally, it'd be a lot more helpful if you actually felt the effects of "healthy eating" in an instant positive way which you could actually feel. I don't get sick eating burger king for a week therefor it seems like there is no reason to not do so. |

I think we kinda do weekly weigh ins ... I actually kind of check it here every day but when no one else posts and it's just me I feel kind of lonesome or something. That paperclip thing confused me at first, how cute! The name of this new thread should probably be "lose 20 pounds by anyones goal" because I'm not sure if anyone will be able to do this. ANYWAY, after my week of fast food it APPEARS that I'm losing on track again, I broke my 161 barrier, literally every other day it would always get stuck at 161, it was so annoying. So not only did I break that, I got through to 159.5 (which isn't that far in but still!!) I'm like 1 pound away from being the skinniest I ever got on a diet. Then I have ... 40 more to go ~.~ but like I said before, I'll be happy with "normal weight range" i.e. 145. |

oh noes, ok so the least I got was 161 so far, then I went up for a week eating fast food n such, and I started to rediet again (rather than zig-zag I thought a week would be more efficient) so I'm back at 161 and it looks very promising that I'll start to lose the weight again. Working 2 jobs and having 5 commissions to do is a pain in the ass, I no longer have time for excersize, thankfully, both of my jobs involve lots of standing/walking/arm moving. The good news about all that is, thankfully, working helps me lose weight. It lets me pack a lunch of veggies and fruit and others, and I eat it. Not only do I eat less but I also eat less calories this way. Keeping busy keeps me away from wanting to eat because I'm bored, which is often the case on evenings/weekend.
HAVE A GOOD WEEK YALL!! |

I always thought a food scale would be SO nifty ... oh the sweet mealsl I could make with it. I am the kind of cook who doesn't try it till it's done, so it's either awful or decent usually ~.~ and yeah I think DDR IS a great way to do a bit of excersize, while accomplishing something and getting high scores and whatnot. A girl on my friends list has a trampoline ... OMG I WANT ONE, that would actually be the best game ever. So much fun ~.~ if I got a house I'd totally get one when I could afford it, could you imagine drunken trampolining? (although I haven't drunk for two years) It's kind of fool proof it you dig a hole the same circumfrance and depth as the trampoline to fit in the ground, then there's no guarantee someone would get hurt, because they fall off the edge onto the ground that's level with the edge, get it? Anyway there's a guy re-doing my balcony which is creepy because I sit sit beside the balcony, we are literally 2 feet away from each other with a blind between us, I can see his shadow moving. Now I go do something else. :D |

Haha, I definately splurged a bit, I feel SO SILLY walking around going "let's eat mcdonalds, I need to severely up my calories for the day" eating a big mac thinking it'll help me lose weight. THE PLAN was to be "off the diet" for 1 week, essentially long-term resetting my metabolism or something. So yesterday I weighed 164, woaw I went up from 161 (which was a 1-time low) but I knew it was going to happen and I wasn't worried. Today I weigh in at 162, after mcdonalds last night, lost 2 pounds ... hmmm ... I'm laughing, I really am, this is silly. I don't even know how to eat as many calories as I'm supossed to, in combination with having no food in my house, I think I have 1 bowl of cereal yesterday and mcdonalds, popsicle (like 40 cals?), and a (100 calorie) bag of chips. Thank you everyone for birthday goodness, I feel soooooo old. AND I DIDN'T GET STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE, IT WAS BLUEBERRY, Oh I was pissed, I hate blueberries, my birthday cake was ruined, you all read how passionate I was about it, so my grandma felt bad and was like "I'm gunna buy you a cake tomarrow" and I was like "NOES!" so she got me dairy queen instead. Burger king, dairy queen, mcdonalds, I can't believe I've only gained 1 pound ... and I would've been this weight anyway. TOMARROW NIGHT PIZZA :D

k so it's my birthday weekend, so far I've gained a few pounds, which I'm fine with because I wasn't losing anymore anyway, and when this weekend is over, I'll go back to dieting and hopefully it'll be easier to lose the remaining weight =\ I have never engaged in potatoe chips (that aren't 100 calorie packs) I have not been to burger king or ANYTHING for MONTHS, so today I'm going to have burger king for supper, and then I'll have strawberry shortcake (it's kind of sad because me and my family were supossed to go for a dinner, but it turns out that I'm working, so all of them and my boyfriend will still go for my birthday supper, but there won't be no birthday girl :( ) so I'm running by burger king before I go get my cake :P

target weight, you mean 140 or less! I'm 21, 161 just today, never been pregnent though. I've been going for jogs for weeks now and I still need to walk most of it XD No matter what, this CAN be done, There's a girl on my friends list, star (not sure what the name is) but she was like 314 pounds or something and got down to 120, SO YES, THIS CAN BE DONE!! Not only did she lose a heck a lotta weight, but she got down to like, really really skinny, not just "I'm comfortable in old lady clothes" but "I'm actually ... pretty thin ... " I've lost 30 pounds so far and also hope to get to 140 or less, I'm almost over the 160 hub, into the 50's then the 40's ... *sigh* long way to go. It's most important to keep with it, and don't get discouraged at plateaus, pretty much everyone on this site knows about them and can help you out with that. |

awww, I know how you feel, I'm about to put up the white flag and hop over to Atkins myself ... it seems like with me, when I excersize and the healthier I eat the less weight I seem to lose. make sure you're eating enough calories, or not too much, try calorie zig-zagging (changing how many calories you take in per day, changing by about 200-500 per day or something) but always keep it around where you're supossed to be. I dunno, it happens malissa, i'm sorry ~.~ |

Ya there's no real harm in me staying ... WHO KNOWS, Maybe my increased calorie intake is what I need to get the fat loss going again, it really seemed to be the problem, I THINK I ate to my limit yesterday and weighed in at 172 (my lowest so far is 171.5 so that's good), to be honest though I'm having a real hard time eating to my limit, it feels really good to have so little be so filling. Like basically all I have in my house is cereal, soups, sandwhiches, chilli, veggie burgers, vegetable and fruit assortments ... (snacks such as applesauce and yoghurt tubes) I can still maks stir-fry but I'm so tired of making proper meals. The same weird problem is that this doesn't give me enough calories XD I learned the other day ... Ok well when I took my sister jogging, it was like I didn't eat all day or something, I didn't have supper and it was kind of late, I learned once again the value of actually eating and feeling the effects in the form of energy. It's so hard to push myself when I haven't eaten. Hah I forgot you started this threat Malissa, the height difference I think makes us about the same, or something. I really really want to join a sports team or something but basically I just don't have the time or social skills. Like I think it would be a great motivator for me to push myself harder if there's a goal to achieve, thing is that I'm a jogger not a runner. AND if anyone wants to ... they can see my weight chart in my profile in my gallery, my weight chart is actually QUITE ideal looking, I saw this one girls chart ... it was like ... abnormal heart beat in the form of waves and sharp zig-zags, it was absolutely absurd XD I weigh myself everyday because I find it helps seeing that chart to reassure me if I go up a pound, I know it'll go back down, if I go up another pound, I still know it'll go back down. sorry for writing so much :

Hahaha I went up 2.5 pounds then down 1 then down 1.5 so now I'm again at my all time low for this current diet (last time got a few lower then shot up 30 pounds) tomarrow I expect to go down again ... if not I am sad panda. Started my new job this week, I always find being at work (so long as there's no doughnuts) makes maintaining the diet easier if I bring a packed lunch, I bring so little ... and occasionally don't get all of it eaten because i'm trying to get work done. Few events have caused my week to be terribly stressful and depressing and especially today, very full of angst. Oh today was amazing! For my daily jog, my lungs are much better in shape now, I used to get out of breath when I started but now I can keep going because it's just my legs that get exhausted and not as bad as in the beginning either. I feel so fit! Kayla, for some reason I can eat out at restaurants once or twice but I just got into the mindset that mcdonalds and burger king are off limits, or any burger and fry place ... which I think is a good thing. But you should really try pita pit or extreme pita, it's SO tasty for a garden pita, and with just a bit of tsaziki, it's great and also stays way under. Or if anything, perhaps subway ... There are tasty things other than mcdonalds :( loseweight, I try to jog and stuff ... I figure since I'm only 3/4 months in then I shouldn't really be worrying about it, I'll do what I can. I'm also from canada, but southern alberta, you're prolly from BC or the maratimes? ... Oh gawd I don't want to be this way forever ~.~ well ... bits aren't so bad, namely being skinnier, I'd just like to eat out once in a while, at least once a week. Whatever I want. On Sunday when we weigh in should we post what the weight was the sunday before as well?

omg thanks malissa! I didn't know if it was helpless or not, I got jogging usually daily and I think that hels out the thighs a bit, but not on the upper inside, my arms are mostly problematic. But I just realized, to lose 20 pounds by sept, doesn't that mean like, at the very least 1.5 pounds per week? and if something goes wrong then all bets are off? At the moment I would really like to lose it, and I'm working really hard, but I won't cry if I don't ... Kayla ... I hope having to eat mcdonalds didn't ruin anything for you :( I ate at my grandmothers the other day and gained 2.5 pounds >:S??? then the next day I had humpty's because I had the worst day and lost a pound ... |

You could bring turkey burgers (which are better than veggie burgers for more reason than 1, 1 reason being it has less calories) and say "I'm sorry but I'm on a real strict diet so could you serve up a couple of these especially for me?" ~.~ suonds a bit bad maybe but it's prolly not as awful as you think, they shouldn't mind because it saves them burgers! |

ideally, too much of anything isn't good for you, I saw on tv once a guy who was like 600 pounds, and he loved oranges and oranges are good for you but he was eating 45 of them a day, I think oranges are less than apples, also required additional work, I don't know the answer here. |

I jog on my own during the day and then do it again with my sister because she needs to lose the weight bad (she's 11 and got to 195) EEEK! It motivates me more than anything though! I AM READY!! I wish I was them ... I wouldn't have a problem being fat ~.~ I want to get to the point where I would ide anywhere but work, or like, friends houses late at night ... well CC (Caloriecount) is big on nutrition, it recommends that females have no less than 1, 200 calories per day, that number is made because that's about how many calories you need to have your daily recommendation of everything, (calcium, vitamin A ... etc.) There is stuff in the Tools section that will tell you about how much you burn in a day, how many calories you should have in order to lose weight at about 1.5 pounds per week. So CC wants you to be nutritious, now whether you can or not, whatever. Make sure you drink about 2.5 litres of water, the actual number varies from person to person, I have been trying and can't really make it to 2.5 so do your best XD There is no set number as to how many meals per day you should have, some people prefer 6 small meals a day over 3 larger ones, apparantly it boosts your metabolic digestive rate ... I also heard spicey foods will do that a bit as well. the more you snack, even on raw baby carrots, your stomach is still going and going. what size portions ... ok well there is a calorie assistant thing on your "My Account" section, or just on the website you can look up foods and see how many calories are in them, thisi s where you calorie count, and depending on the calories is the size of your meal. Get it? ~.~ like I can of campbells soup without milk is 70 calories, I just made mine with water, so I have a massive bowl of soup for 70 calories ... you also have to search for yourself things like fat free milk, not 1% but like ... the most watery fat free skim milk you can find, and fat free cheese slices ... and weight watchers brown bread(which you can't find everywhere) things like broth soups, vegetables, lots of them, fruits and stufff ...... ya k bye ^_^ |
