Zia - I had the same problem (PCOS) about two years ago.  It is definitely related to eating & weight. I'm at the same weight when I had the PCOS, but when I cleaned up my diet my cycles began again and I've been regular since.

I must say my health has improved when I consciously gave up on foods that contained the following ingredients:

  • bleached enriched flour
  • hydrogenated oils
  • high fructose corn syrup

I try to limit nitrates/nitrites as well by cutting back on the amount of processed meats I eat.  What I found interesting was when I was diagnosed, I was a habitual Subway sandwiches eater, and the ingredient content of that food is just as bad as the major fast food joints. When I quit Subway (and other fast food spots) my health was much better.

I'm still way too heavy, but this is the beginning of a LONG journey :-)

Recipes Cooking question: margarine? Mar 13 2008

butter is perfectly fine although your recipe may be a bit softer and lighter.  recipes call for margarine because its more similar to shortening, and shortening is the best baking ingredient (but its high in fat).

hello everyone,

i'm new also - just joined the site. i'm 29, 5'5" 255lbs and I'm sick and tired of being fat. Its nice to see others going through the same struggle and finding success.  I lost about 40lbs about ten years ago, but I've gained all the weight back and then some. I really would like to lose weight.
