I agree with etah, ranch sounds delightful :) Welp, Im with everyone else here who doesnt want to weigh in today! Totally tanked these past 2 days. Probably around 6-7000 calories over (most of that was in 3 little fried pies I ate...they are a legend in this town and my favorite food that I NEVER eat so I dont feel too bad haha, even tho it was upwards of 3000 cals!). Plus its TTOM and I feel like crap! stayed home sick yesterday it was so bad. Worst part is its messing up my motivation. But Im back on track today! Fainted this morning on my poor coworker and he freaked out and stuffed cookies down my throat, said Im not eating enough lol. Pretty embarressing really, but I tried to explain its just a normal thing for me with my heart condition, its not a big deal. First time its happened on this job tho. Anyways, that was the only thing bad I've eaten, and I intend to have a perfect weekend! Except I have a date tomorrow! We're going to dinner :D hopefully that goes well. Its a guy I met at the gym. He's a pianist lol. *shrug* its a switch. Ought to be interesting at least. See yall Monday! Be good girls :) |

I guess I been weighin in on mondays so here it is. Last monday I weighed 170 and today I weighed 168. so (-2)! However, YESTERDAY I was 166...which if I had been 166 today I would have made my goal of losing 4lbs this week. But its ok. Im feeling a little bloated and crampy for some reason. (whats new??) met a guy on valentines day unexpectedly and went on a date. that was fun i guess. hes 30 (im 23) and military and good looking but a liiiittle too into himself I think. on to the next! :P

Hey girls, happy weigh in day! and T. G. I. F. ! I weighed in at 170 flat today. I guess thats ok. I dont know why I havent lost any this week. Quite frustrating really. So yesterday i was closer to 171 (I was 170 last week) and decided maybe I wasnt eating enough...I ate 1940cals and exercised 505 cals off, so I still got a 480 calorie defecit. But I was hoping to boost my metabolism. 1300-1400 seems like plenty of food to me and its actually a pain in the butt to think of ways to eat more but Im trying. I dont want to eat a bunch of junk food. I loved eating 1400. that was perfect for me. *shrug* whatever. i guess my body is hungry and I dont know it? So Ill be trying for closer to 1500, bleh. maybe 1600....I do not want to. And i decided that its a control issue. Eating 1300-1400 I felt very in control of things and i liked that. i dont want to lose it. But Yesterday I ate 1940 and it was very controlled. I counted everything and planned it all out. I didnt just shove food in my face uncontrollably...I didn't lose control. Sweetkookie-yes do keep us updated Danielle-quit lurking and join in, we miss you! Way to go on 148 :) Thats awesome. The one 140s are a distant dream for me but I will reach 150 by May and then maybe I'll see about 148! I know what you mean about being bloated, yuck. Im so sick of it. Really makes you want to hide from the scale. Dizzy- yes 165 at 6'1 sounds very thin! Some of your dissatisfaction may be toning and some of it may just be wanting perfection. I notice that when I'm exercising and eating right I can still weigh the same and fit in my clothes the same, but I see my body differently...I like it a lot better! Maybe endorphins or maybe I see how capable and strong it is. Who knows! More than likely its because it boosts my confidence. Try working out, it works WONDERS! :) Carol- Happy Friday 13th to you :P A good friend of mine is getting married today, creepy huh? yea.... Have fun in London!! And dont worry too much about that 1.5 lbs, you really do look fantastic! Cali- yea birth control does that to ya. Especially if you screw up and miss one...that is miserable! I agree with Okie about drinking more water to flush out the bloat, it works pretty good most of the time. Okie- Sorry bout bein up a lb! That stinks. Seems like not eating enough is a theme in this group lately lol. EVERYONE is complaining they dont want to eat so much, haha. Kinda funny when ya think of it. Youd think eating more would be an attractive idea...but its kinda scary sometimes. I hope everyone has a great weekend, and a happy valentines day :) |

hey sweetkookie, are you new? I think you're not eating enough. I think Im not eating enough too! Last week i did a 1300-1350 calorie diet and lost 7lbs and this week Im eating the same basically and I've lost nothing so far, actually as of this morning gained a lb or 2. So Im hacked. I think Im needed some more food though. So today Im probably eating about 1600 or maintenance, not sure yet. I think we just need to eat more people!! ...not eat more people, but eat more...people. anyways. |

Glad to see you're still doing good Carol :) that 4lbs will melt away as it always does, no worries. Thats interesting about the carbs. I've never thought to watch them while Im calorie counting but maybe I'll give it a shot one day or two and see what happens. Sounds like it might make me groggy though. I upped my calorie intake as of yesterday like I said I was going to, even just that little bit really gave me an edge in my workouts last night. I did an hour of bootcamp (cardio+strength all at once...aka:hell) and then 10 minutes on the elliptical and still felt so energized! Try it out even if just for a few days, I bet you'll notice a difference too. |

Good Morning Ladies!! Thanks so much for the props this week! Feels so rewarding after all that hardwork :) Kate-Hope your exam week is going smoothly!! Hang in there! Mellisaann- Dont be afraid to weigh! if you've been consistently getting defecits you're on the right track. You are amazing! I dont think I ever heard of a Peanut Butter Pie but it sounds soooo good! Love peanut butter mmmm. Good for you ditching it! So I guess your ex is wanting to reconcile if hes bringing you treats! (I think a peanut butter pie would seal the deal for me lol) But I know what ya mean about feeling weird eating more. Its so hard to get over in my mind. I tried sooo hard to get to 1400 yesterday and the most I could manage was 1385. I was afraid of going over and then not losing or somethin...I dunno lol. But today I planned it perfectly to equal 1400 on the dot and I WILL do it :P And I said a prayer for you too so I know you will have a great week! Where is everybody at?? Carol? Danielle? I did it!!! Couldnt wait to tell you guys :) I lost not 6lbs but 7!!! I feel like a contestant of the Biggest Loser! Its great! Last Monday (2/2/09)- 177.6 and Today 2/9/09- 170.6!!! I did really good this week, the only unplanned eating I did was a 90cal granola bar on friday to stave off the evening munchies and sunday at church they gave us these AMAZING INCREDIBLE TASTY heaaavenly little brownies with cream cheese icing on top (from walmart) and I ate one...I couldnt stop, i never tasted anything so good! So I had to go to walmart and track them down to see how many calories it was lol. But I enjoyed every bite and dont regret it really. I still ended up with a 430 cal defecit and met my goal! I was really hoping for 171 too and to see 170 really spurred me on for this week. I want to lose 4lbs this week. I'd love to see 166. I think by setting such high goals it pushes me to through the week to see what my body can do, even if I dont reach 4lbs i dont really care as long as I feel motivated. The only thing I'll do differently this week is eat more. I was eating about 1200-1350 and it just wasnt enough. I got a little fainty and weak so this week I'll up it to 1400-1500 and see how that goes. Hope everyone had a great weekend! |

haha you know I was reading that and I hadnt looked up to see who wrote it and I thought "this sounds just like snowfence!!" and sure enough you wrote it! You are so encouraging! I've never known you to say a single discouraging word in this whole year! I really do like that counting to 100 idea too. Have to give that whirl sometime....this weekend would be good, weekends are killer for me! Great post though snow, with lots of excellent points. I am my own boss! genius :) |

Wow, all these new people! I love it! Welcome Ladies :) Well I been doin good on my 6lb plan! I have had excellent defecits all week! (M-1190, T-830, W-1000, Th-780) Today Im shootin for 900-1000 cal defecit. I really wanna report a 6lb loss to you guys on Monday!! I know some people think thats drastic but most of its water really. Im bein healthy about this! I promise :) Danielle- Spring is going to be great this year! I'm sure you will knock out the 140s in no time. And I hope you are right about seeing results soon! I feel a bit thinner after only 4 days so *crosses fingers* we'll see come Monday how much of that 6lbs is gone! Valerie-Welcome to the group! Its good to have you! Kate- Glad to see you are back down! That superbowl weekend was a killer for a lot of us. Cant wait to see ur weigh in today! 159 159 159! :P Calisun- you're picture is beautiful! Welcome to the group :) Im beginning to wonder if tall women are a rarity everywhere. I feel so out of place sometimes but its like mellisann said- you gotta walk like you own it! I love that! I wear heels quite a bit. The highest I have I think are 2 1/2 or 3 inches (Im 5'10). Everyone says I look taller than just 5'10 but thats not a bad thing at all! I think we do have to work at looking dainty tho lol. Blue- Welcome welcome! I think 150 by June is totally doable! 5 months to lose 30lbs...why not? Just gotta be strict on yourself, veeery strict! I dont think 10 minute workouts are a waste at all! I've heard it said "if you arent burning at least 250 cals a workout, work harder!" or somethin like that but somedays its better to do a little and then rest for the day. Sometimes your body needs rest more than it needs a workout. But movin is movin Carol- I did NOT go to the pancake gig lol. I love pancakes too (course everything sounds sooo good when ur on a diet!!) But I made up for it in other ways dont worry! Like cheeseburgers and french fries...Good luck with maintenance. Im sure you will figure something out. You look great! Okie- you are some kind of impressive!! 9 days on vaca and you only gained a pound and a half!? Thats nuts. Good job!!

I realized how out of control I was, how unhealthy I felt. What REALLY put the nail in the coffin though, was when it hit me that I had lost 15lbs last year then gained it all back within 4 months. 4 months?! Do you know how much you have to eat to gain that much in that little bit of time? So New years rolled around and January 1st, I started aaall over again. Been having to relearn all the basics. 5 small meals a day, exercise consistently, get a good defecit, think positive, and quit hating myself! I had become too lazy to care about anything anymore. I didnt expect anything out of myself. Threw the pity parties about how terrible my life was blah blah blah. Then I decided i didnt want it anymore. I faced the fact that no one can change my situation in life but me. No one can go to school for me, take care of my house, lose my weight....but me. It was time to take control. It's not easy but its worth it. Im losing weight to feel better about myself. Because it needs to be done before it gets any worse. :) |

oh. my. gosh! Etah, you are not alone! I am back up to 177 as of this morning (yesterday I was 172 lol) I ate so bad this weekend. But Okie, I DID avoid the pancake feed! :P Thousands of people were there, but I wasnt one of them :) Small victory but a victory none the less. I also noticed that while I didnt log this weekend and ate whatever I wanted, I made surprisingly better choices of junk food. I still read lables. I bought Graham Crackers and sunflower seeds to snack on during the superbowl, instead of ice cream and cookies and chips and dip. Smaall victories lol. And when I went to Sonic I got a kids size sundae instead of a big one...and realized that I dont even WANT a big one, its too much and makes me sick. Good for you Okie not feeling any guilt, I really dont either. I'm back on track more than ever today! This week i have a goal. 6lbs. it will be gone. i plan to exercise about 2 hours a day and eat under 1500 cals for this week. I'm absolutely determined. I will be attending Bootcamp at the YMCA 3 nights this week and if I can still move after class I'll be swimming some too. Riding my bike other days and walking and swimming. These 6lbs dont stand a chance.

Yea I could have written this post too (besides the purging thing, tried it but i couldnt get anything to come up-thank God, moments of desparation I spose). Its hard to gain control of your habits. DUH. I think you just have to get fed up. Make a solid decision that no matter what, no matter how many times in a day you have to convince yourself, again and again, that you are going to work at this and eat right and exercise, push yourself...you do it! Its not a one time decision, and thats why its so hard. But nothing worth having comes easily. You CAN do this though. Quit thinking about all the times you've failed before. You dont have to fail now. Learn from your mistakes but dont keep looking back. Looking back, in my opinion, is not a good thing. Look forward to today. I tell myself, "I may not be all that I want to be today, but if I work hard, I can be a little closer to that person tomorrow", and it works, and its true. Stay positive. Dont let anything get you down. No more complaining either because you are right, YOU control you. You may not be able to have control over how quickly the weight comes off or million other circumstances in your life, but you control your attitude. Attitude is everything. :) Hope that helps. |

Weigh in day is here and I weigh the same as last week!! lol. ugh, I'm so bad. Its terrible but Im got a good defecit yesterday and feel pretty good about today so far (5:00pm @ 850 very healthy cals). Tomorrow the company I work for is having a booth at the local pancake feed though. Not sure if I'm going or not. Pancakes sound delightful and its a social thing. Hmm. worth it or not? ...we'll see. Carol you crack me up. 350 cals?? lol. Cereal isnt THAT bad anyways, at least it wasnt donuts or something and now it's gone! Whew :P Welcome to the group Tcole! You will love it here. Congrats on the new low Init thats great!! They will all be new lows from here on out :) Yoga- you are doing great! I have been the same weight for 3 weeks now, and i just started back 4 weeks ago lol. 4lbs is a nice number. At least you arent losing and gaining back the same few pounds...That is so annoying. Congrats Okie on reaching goal!!! Missed Friday weigh in but this morning I was still 173 so thats 2 weeks (at the beginning!) with no loss. I havent been very good though I admit. keeping up with my exercising fine as is usually the case, its just the diet thats got me off. Been eating WAAAY too many 100 calorie treats. I've decided they are stupid. They all taste so good and I end up eating at least 2 or 3 when I intend to eat just one after dinner or something. So I may as well go get a ice cream shake or something for that many calories and really enjoy it instaed of eating "diet food". So I've gotten rid of (by consumption lol) all the 100 cal treats and other junk food and will now be eating fruits and veggies instead! Big fat duh really, but I felt like being stubborn I guess. Plus that fake sugar is soo BAD for my guts, I have been so sick, plus I feel really fatigued. All i want to do is sleep. Going to be working harder this week though! Good luck! |

lol right. Crazy we both joined last night! Yea your defecit is going to be the amount you burned minus the amount you eat (burn-intake) My BMR (basal metabolic rate or resting burn rate) is 1920 right now. So If I ate 920 (never good to eat below 1200 for us gals) I would have a 1000 calorie defecit (assuming I never got out of bed all day long-if I DID get out of bed I would have more like 1500 calorie defecit, shame shame :P) Soo I eat around 1500-1800 calories usually. Eating the most on days I swim because I burn a ton of calories (love swim days). I just add my workout cals to my BMR usually and that equals my BURN for the day. So if I swim my burn is bout 2400 so i can eat 1800 like I want to and still get a 600 calorie defecit. 600 calorie defecit all 7 days in the week equals 4200 calorie defecit for the week which equals a 1.2 lbs loss per week. (3500 calories=1 pound so 4200/3500=1.2). That said I been wingin it. Not been keepin a journal of what i eat or exercise just countin in my head. Whatever works for ya. Hope that makes sense! |

Welcome Mellisa! I agree, weighing everyday can be tough. Plus weighing in once a week gives me that extra push to get out of bed on Friday :P But I would definately say you need more like 1400-1500 calories a day. Remember, the way you lose weight is to have a defecit, but a defecit of over 1000 cals day after day will send your body into starve mode. (allegedly) I dont know what you have your burn meter set to (active, sedentary etc.) but if you have it set at sedentary then you definately need more cals. Because 2200 is what you burn just sittin doin nothin. When you add in daily activities like showering, walking around at work and stuff you burn more and so you need to eat more. Also if you START eating 1200-1300 cals if you hit a plateau then you cant lower your calories any to jumpstart things. Thats my thinkin. What do you girls say? Carol you are doing great! Im sure you will see a loss on the scale in no time. You always do!! Keep ur chin up, you get to go to London! :D that sounds so fun! Init-congrats on your saggy butt lol. Thats a good thing when ur losing weight! Well girls, I weigh the same this week as last week, well Im down .2 lbs lol. But wednesday I was 171 so Im not worried. I know I lost cuz I can see it and feel it. I just went out to eat last night to Texas Roadhouse and I think I am holding water maybe. I swam a mile and then some afterward to burn it off, and did some strength moves too. I too joined the gym! Last night my trial membership ended and I renewed! So Im an official YMCA member. I feel like Lady when she got her collar and license (in Lady & the Tramp) with my little card on my keychain. So proud :D |

i think the best thing about my gym is I look forward to it because of the people and getting out of the house. Plus with all of the classes, the pool, the hot tub the saunas, etc its hard to get bored! but i go to the YMCA so its cheaper than most gyms and they're runnin a special right now. First 6 months for 20 bucks a month. then it goes up to 33. still pretty cheap but its not a 24 hour gym. thats my 2 cents. :) |

D you look GREAT! i cant wait to get to 148! Im about to go try the pulsing thing, but you are for sure right about one thing and that is NO PUDGE! I forgot about that stuff lol. Its crazy that its so tasty and so low in calories. i like to put fat free cool whip on top and add a few pecans before I microwave it (one serving). Just a random note...i tried something new from healthy choice. Its a little steamer bowl (on the soup isle I believe at walmart). I dont normally eat asian food or even TRY it. The smell makes me gag and it has a bunch of weird stuff in it like peppers and what not that I try to avoid but a coworker gave me a bite of the "sweet and sour chicken" flavor and I got the shock of my life. It was SO GOOD! They're almost 3 bucks but if you like this kind of thing you should try it! |

Skookum- i think a good exercise for that specific area is to get on all fours and kick one leg up to the ceiling (keeping knee bent in an L shape). you really use ur butt to kick ur leg up. actually nicole from sparkpeople.com has a great butt exercise routine! you can look it up on youtube. trust me, it wont disappoint :P |

actually...continuing on that thought...i dont see how it would be any different than walking in freezing temperatures. I walk around the block at night when its 27 degrees for exercise and I dont feel that same hunger when I get thru as i do after i swim. maybe its all in my head. |

I think it may have to do with the cooler temperatures. If your body is not only having to work at an aerobic level to get you from one end of the pool to the other but also having to keep you from freezing (even tho the pool I swim in says the temp is 82 most days, which seems kind of warm for swimming laps once you get in and warmed up). *shrug* I truly have NO idea lol. big fat mystery right there. |

Im back too!! I've been counting (but not logging) and exercising for 7 days now! Feeling good. I can see that im losing weight already. Not sure of the pounds yet because I dont weigh in until tomorrow and then after that I will start weighing in on Fridays with you guys as my official day. Starting back at 178/176ish. I know...Holy crap. I gained 10lbs in the last 4 months! But its a new year!!! Anything can happen :) Im back to swimming and walking and have decided to not log because it makes me absolute crazy lol. Unless I find I cant lose without doing it. Does everyone in here log?? Even on maintenance?? Just curious to see what the census is on that. Whats your thoughts on logging? Heres to 2009! |

yep me too! i get sooo hungry! and its a different kind of hunger than I normally feel I think. It feels...deeper sort of. Yall swimmers probly know what I mean by that. Im not sure what to do about it either because i love swimming and need to lose the weight, but i have no idea how many calories im burning in the water so I dont know what I can afford to eat. *shrug* soo confusing :P |

Dawn...I hear you. Word for word. Start out juicing fruit and veggies for breakfast and end up getting dinner at the drive thru. (juiced this morning, now Im sittin here eatin 4 cookies...ugh). PMS is a serious problem for me because I have endometreosis. It makes the mood swings reaaaally violent! Like one minute Im in heavenly bliss and the world is my playground and its hugs all around, the next minute I feel like quitting my job and living on the beach because i hate myself and everyone else and "I just cant take it anymore!" lol. It sure is a trip being a woman. I've tried to go vegan. That didnt work out. So now I'm a vegetarian (who eats burgers and chicken tenders on occasion). No matter what I do in life, I cant seem to stick with anything long enough to finish it..not since high school anyways. So whats a chubby girl to do? I dont know. I need my motivation back but I dont know where it skirted off to. |
