I'll be a freshman in the fall. Yikes! I'm moving to a big city. And I still have a lot of weight to lose!

| Weight Loss | How? How can this be? | Jun 03 2008 17:53 (UTC) |

Besides the 10% thing, it also depends on where you're losing it from. If it all came from one area, you'd notice it. You're less likely to notice if you're losing a little bit from everywhere, which is probably what's happening. |

Original Post by sroscoe: sroscoe: Haha, oh wow. That sounds like my boyfriend. ~6' , 133 pounds.
So, I guess that answers one question. Yes, I would totally be with a guy who is lighter than I am. :D

| Young Calorie Counters | HELP! I can't give up diet soda! | May 28 2008 01:44 (UTC) |
10 |
I absolutely love Diet Dr. Pepper, and I don't think I'll give it up entirely any time soon. I don't think it's had a serious effect on my weight loss. I mean, I tried giving it up for 2 weeks, and I didn't see much of a difference.

| The Lounge | How many pounds do you lie about? | May 28 2008 01:18 (UTC) |

When I got my driver's license in 2006, I said I weighed 200 pounds. I was, at the time, about 210-215. After that, I gained maybe 5 more. But I am proud to say that I am currently approx. 13 pounds under instead of over my license weight. And still losing! I've gotten away with saying I weigh about 160 when I weighed over 200. I guess I could pass for about that or maybe 150 now. :D |

| Weight Loss | Question for the ladies | May 28 2008 01:04 (UTC) |

Yup. S'quite normal. I just started yesterday. And I'd been fluctuating up and down a few pounds the week before and the day before I was up 3 pounds or so. Don't worry. Afterwards, you ought to at least be back to where you were before, maybe even lower! |

| Young Calorie Counters | "guys dig curves" garbage | May 27 2008 23:24 (UTC) |
196 |
What I've heard is that generally (and this is not true for every man) boys are attracted to "curves" in the sense that they find a waist/hip ratio of approx. 0.7 to be attractive. And breasts tend to be attractive to them, too. ;) Of course, healthy curvy is going to be more attractive than fat curvy. Curves aren't the same as rolls. But different boys like different things. You simply can't say that all guys like curves. Or that all guys don't. Still. Keep in mind that generally, "curvy" is small waist, bigger ass. |

I'm in. :) I'm 17 years old, and I just finished senior year. I'll be going to college in New York next year. I'm about 5'6" (maybe a little under), I started at 215 or so. I'm somewhere between 185 and 190 right now (haven't weighed recently). I'm trying to get to 130-140.

| Weight Loss | But you're so skinny... | May 27 2008 21:33 (UTC) |
18 |
I don't really get called skinny. But none of my friends ever tell me I'm fat.
I have a friend who calls me a "Daft bird" every time I mention something about diet soda or low fat this or low cal that. I guess it's nice to think they don't think I need to lose weight. But I know what I need better than they do. ;) |

| Weight Loss | Aggggggg! what the **** do you guys eat? | May 27 2008 19:46 (UTC) |
39 |
You should eat enough to keep you satisfied. If you end up over 1400, that's not that big a deal. Go for a walk or a jog or do some weight lifting. But if you're still trying to keep the count down, I agree with Shanonna. Cut out things like honey mustard. Try and cut down on other things like cheese and mayonnaise. They taste great, but they add a lot of unnecessary calories. |

| Weight Loss | Has anyone tried hypnosis? | May 27 2008 17:49 (UTC) |

My grandmother paid for a few hypnosis sessions for my mum. I don't think it's made any difference. She's only lost about 2 pounds over the past 6 months. And she may have gained them back.

He's not my husband, but I know what you mean. My boyfriend is 6' and weighs maybe 140 pounds. I'm 5'6" and around 185. It makes me uncomfortable. :P |

As it is, our fridge has my sister's spelling tests and grocery lists. If I didn't live with my parents, though, I'd probably have a (relatively recent) picture of myself and a picture of a Victoria's Secret model or something to remind myself what I'm working for. :D |

| Foods | Luna Bar VS Special K Bar VS Rice Cake!!!!!! Which one would you suggest?? | May 03 2008 22:22 (UTC) |

I love, love, LOVE Special K snack bars. They're so yummy. Only problem is, they cause a bit of a self-control issue for me. Often, I'll eat 3 or 4 of them in a row. But if you can control yourself, they're a delicious snack, low calorie, mildly nutritious snack. |

| Weight Loss | gaining weight! | Apr 26 2008 17:37 (UTC) |

How many calories are you eating? If you're burning that many, you should eat at the very least 1500 calories a day. If you have more than 1000 calorie deficit, your body can interpret that as being starved. If it feels like it's being starved, it will store extra energy in the form of fat as a reserve source. So. It may be as simple as you need to eat more.

| Weight Loss | Confused by goals | Apr 23 2008 15:07 (UTC) |

Honestly, I'd ignore the weight goals that this site offers. If you want a more accurate idea of where you should be, ask your doctor about it. As for me, I'm going by sizes. This site says I have nearly 60 pounds to go. My mom looked at me the other day and said, "And where are those 60 pounds going to come from? The BMI calculators online are not very accurate. They're based on averages and don't take muscle into account. Just get to where you feel comfortable. :) |

| Fitness | Need peoples thorughts - Just started with yoga and pilates instructor | Apr 22 2008 23:51 (UTC) |

Well. I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with melkor. I did almost nothing but pilates about 2 years ago. And about 2 weeks after I started, my waist was an inch and a half smaller. Maybe that's just because I was standing up straighter or something. But over all, it's a good exercise for your muscles if you're going for lean muscle mass. I mean, I really felt it. It all depends on form, though.

| Weight Loss | Eating under 1000 calories | Apr 22 2008 17:58 (UTC) |

I'm sure after the initial stall from starvation mode, you would lose weight. You'd waste away. There's a medical term for eating 500-800 calories a day. It's anorexia.

| Weight Loss | Burn Calories ? | Apr 22 2008 00:46 (UTC) |

The burn meter is just based on what your body is burning to keep you going every day. That's what the sedentary/lightly active/moderately active thing was for when you first filled out your profile. Any exercises you do, you log in your activity log and the burn meter will change to show how much more you'll burn for the day. :) |

| Weight Loss | What is right for me? | Apr 22 2008 00:42 (UTC) |

The problem with fad diets is that you go to them for a quick fix. And might get it. But they are impossible to stick to and once you are "done" you lose it all back. The truth of the matter is, there are a lot of ways to lose weight, but only one smart way. Count calories. Workout. Maintain a calorie deficit of no more than 1000 calories a day. It'll take time. But it's permanent. And it's a good way to ensure you keep the weight off, paying close attention to what you eat. :) |

| Weight Loss | Eating too little = no weight loss? | Apr 21 2008 23:33 (UTC) |
7 |
If you have a calorie deficit over 1000, your body will think it's starving. So you don't have to eat 3000 calories. Just make sure your deficit isn't too high. And maybe to get rid of the muffin top, throw in a few sit ups. :) |

| Weight Loss | 3500 calories!! help!! | Apr 18 2008 16:26 (UTC) |
|
It adds up. Whenever your net calorie deficit is 3500 calories, you'll be down approximately a pound. If that takes you a week, then you had a daily deficit of 500 calories. See? It's not like you weigh the same amount until you burn the 3500 calories and then *poof* you're down a pound. You lose it in fractions of pounds depending on how much you've burned that day. |

Same deal. I'm 17. I'll be 18 in August. I'm going off to college. And my boyfriend is 16. 17 next week, though. He's a junior. My friends occasionally make comments like, "Oh my God, you cradle robber". But they don't really have a problem with him. And my best friend thinks he's cute. :) |
