Morning!

Okay, maintining is still clicking along, but I have no decent tools to measure body fat.  Hehe.  Here's today:

8/4 - CW: 172.2   BMI: 22.82  BF: 13.5 (gym hand thing)

8/7 - CW: 172.4   BMI: 22.85  BF: Anywhere between 13 and 16.5 according to my stupid upstairs scale!)

Good news being, I'm moving up and down on my weight by decimals, which is what I'm trying to do.  Body fat?  Not having much luck, but we'll see.  Maybe, at 43, that range is all I need...

Okay!  I'm back!  And I found out some specifics!

I started here:

  • CW: 172.8  (+.4 lbs, but I attribute to that to varied times of weighing)
  • GW: 169.0
  • BMI: 22.91 (Goal 22, up .06 from Monday) 
  • BF%: 15.0 (according to scale upstairs)

  • CW: 172.2  
  • GW: 169.0
  • BMI: 22,82 
  • BF%: 13.5 (According to the thingy at the gym)

  •  All in all, not bad.  A slow weight decline, a slow BMI decline and a Body Fat ratio that feels as fictional as it does convenient.  But for me, at least, this thing seems to be doing what I want it to do - more Body fat loss than weight loss.  This is good, I think!

    This week:  Need to keep focussing on having at least 2000 calories a day, which feels like I'm eating a whole person.  Also need to figure out why my knee hates me.

    Body fat a mystery today.

    I know I'm gaining a bit, but I am also working on gaining muscle.  Possible I gained that much?  Who knows...

    Hey there!

    Okay, I'm in the weird part where I might be gaining a little bit, but I'm working very hard to gain muscle.  I'm not sure what the ratio is but... whatever.  Here we go.

  • CW: 172.8  (+.4 lbs, but I attribute to that to varied times of weighing)
  • GW: 169.0
  • BMI: 22.91 (Goal 22, up .06 from Monday) 
  • BF%: 15.0 (according to scale upstairs)
  • I'm not being super aggressive on any of this stuff this week, mostly because it's my first day back in the gym in three weeks because of my back blow out.  HOWEVER... I want to make sure the weight isn't a trend, but a day by day fluctuation.

    Also, for ease of use, I'll be using my upstairs / old scale Body Fat calculator which might not be  spot on, but it will be consistent.  I can use it every day.

    Anyway:  Feels like I'm doing okay.  Maybe that's 7 ounces of muscle I put on since Monday.  Who knows?  Keeping you posted, and seeing you Monday...

    Okay, so, it ended with one point higher than I was four days ago but overall, this was a nine pound success.
    I allowed myself more food this weekend as I'm about to go into a different phase of diet and exercise and, to be fair, I haven't been to the can in two days.  But... on to new things!

    There are scales that do it (roughly) and hand held analyzers.  If you go to a gym, they probably have a device.

    Hey, all!

     

    Okay, so for more than 100 days, I've worked with a lot of great people to drop weight.  I've dropped a lot.

    I still want to drop a little more, but only as I add muscle.  So... this is a challenge for both.  Over the next eight weeks, we:

    1) Will weigh in twice a week.  Mondays and Thurdays.

    2) On Mondays, we need to check body fat and BMI and see where we're at.  It doesn't matter how you measure this stuff, as long as you keep measuring it the same way over the course of the challenge.  :)

    It won't be pretty.. BUT... I think it's a nice honing mechanism for those of us that are getting closer to our goal, while still working together with those that have a little more to lose.

    Eight weeks!  Who's in?

    So who's in?  :)

    P.S.  Right now, I have a lousy scale with a very rough estimate of Body fat.  Anybody got any suggestions of what I should buy before Monday?

    So, I'm gonna have to set up a maintenance, weight loss challenge for the next eight weeks otherwise, I'll have withdrawals for the camaraderie.  If you can put up with a group with split focus:  One side for loss, the other for losing body fat, I'm glad to keep the torch moving.

    Me, today:

    So, my interesting dilemma is - I want to push it to get down to the upper 160s - 160 is the lowest I should be according to every calculator - and then, I want to start building up.  Can a group do both?  We'll see.
    Crappity tho, Im tired.  Gonna go back to bed and burn the lowest amount of calories per activity I can...

    So... My "ideal weight" is based on whatever this place says it should be via my height and frame... I think I'm getting to where I wanna be.  I do think right now it's all about body fat, since I feel like I could lose a little in the gut, and put on a little more muscle, and stay where I'm at with my weight and be completely happy.
    Apparently I have ribs.  Did not know this...

    Good morning, everybody!

    Okay.  Nice to be back after a good 10 days of dick-all.  I miss the Wii Fit, and it's snotty little "Wow.  You're not very stable.  Do you fall a lot when you walk?"

    Of course, the fact that I ALMOST fell, and that's what made me screw up my back, makes me hate it even more.

    That being said, I'm finally better.  I'm gonna get back into an exercise routine starting next week.  But... here's the breakdown:

    • Okay, sweet!   Apparently a morning of egg beaters, taking fruit with me to go fishing and filling up on blueberries, and eating trout worked.

      The question for me now is...  I'm technically 2 or 3 pounds away from the high end of an "ideal weight" for me.  But "ideal weight" feels super thin - wrongly thin, actually?

     

    That being said, I have the musculistructure of a bendy straw, so perhaps that's the challenge... start building up correctly, now that I've torn down?  Focus more on the body fat ratio and less about what I see on the scale?

    Could use advice.  Don't want to become manorexic... and quite frankly, I am very much looking forward to enjoying a slice of pizza again....

    I'm back from my little hiatus... Even though tomorrow isn't a weigh day, I'm going to weigh in since it's almost been two weeks.

    Hey all!

    No idea what I weigh.  I won't be back at my scale until Monday of next week.  Trying to stay on the diet, doing the best I can...

    So far, I've been able to keep the intake down below 1900... trying to work in a little mountain exercise when I can, but it's not easy with the back screwed up and no gym in sight.

    But I'm following the news so... keep up the good work, all!

    Hey all! Okay, so... the July 4th Colorado Trip has begun. Hence the Thursday post on Frida. As of my Wii Fit on Thursday, I was 179.8. This is good. Now, I'm going to deal with being away from my food comfort zone, the stores I shop at, all that stuff.

    I get back on the 7th, and I have NO idea what I'll weigh, but I'm going to have to monitor stuff by sight and remembrance...  and will also do the best to fight family things and booze temptation.

    I think I can do it.  I've done it before.  But this time, I am incredibly bored with my diet, AND I do not have access to a gym.

    But.

    I am motivated.  And I'm 4.8 pounds away from where I wanna be.

    Wish me luck.  I will see you here...

    Okay, so between the back tweak and vacation, I'm not exercising as much as I like.. but there's a personal trainer waiting to kick my ass as of Wednesday, so I'll live.

    Im still doing well with the diet - lots of fruit to eat here, fish and salads.  I think I can keep it around 1700 and not screw myself with the crunchy and the fried...

    Ka - Welcome aboard.

     

    Eileneg - I loves me the wiifit.  The device itself is kind of prickish with it's advice, but I've figured out how to do the running exercises using my stationary bike (less hard on the knees) and the rhythm boxing is a good work out.

    Basically, if you'll use it, it's awesome.  Otherwise, it's another super heavy thing in the middle of my floor I can not trip over and hurt myself with.  :)

    It's not too late.  Welcome aboard.

    So, tomorrow will suck for me, I can see it already.

    Somehow, through the simple fact of attempting to NOT fall, I turned my hips one way, my lower torso another way, and my upper torso a third way.  As though I were a **** designed action figure.

    This has caused two things:

    1)  A lack of exercise.  Hard to lift weights when you can barely stand.

    2)  Something I'm going to call the "Celebrex Bump."  An anti-inflammatory pain medicine that can cause constipation AND water retention.

    So... Im holding fluids AND solids.  Woo.  If I get out of Thursday without gaining two, I'll be stunned beyond measure.

    And now, I'm going to return to uh... wincing.

    Hey there; 

           &nb sp; Welcome to the last challenge I plan on doing for a while.  I’m actually close to where I want to be… and I don’t want to become one of those manorexic dudes.  But… everybody here in this group that was in the previous two… you have been great.

           &nb sp; Great friends.  Great motivators. 

           &nb sp; Backstory:  The weekend before I joined this place, I ended up in the hospital for something stupid.  Stupid, but scary.  “You’re 40 now, idiot!” scary. So… I got out on a Sunday, joined this place, got a trainer, joined a gym and got to work.

           &nb sp; I was part of a forum for a month, then start a couple of short burst forums that were more about maintaining good habits than they were trying to lose weight.  For me, at least, I lost more that way.  Funny.

             Here’s how it broke down for me:

             Starting CC weight on 3/16:      &nbs p;         &nb sp; 215.0 lbs

             30 day sprint starting April 14:        &nb sp; 203.5 – 195.0 lbs

             30 day sprint starting May 12:          195.0 – 187.0 lbs

             About two pounds per week.  Feels healthy.  Smile

            This place works.  As annoyed with myself as I was at where I was on 3/16, I’m thrilled to be who I am on 6/9.  And that’s this place, these forums, you guys.

             So… now, I’ll be moving over to my scale on the Wii Fit, as that’s the one I’ll be hitting on a day to day basis.  I believe it to be more accurate, and it will also force me to exercise in my house as well.

            For those of you who don't know - we measure on Mondays and Thursdays, usually in the morning.  I'll be in Hawaii next Monday (HA!) but the good news is, I'll also be eating nothing but fish.  

            Starting weight June 9th:  181.9 lbs / BMI (allegedly) 24.11

            Goal weight for 42 days:  175.0 lbs.

            Cheers all!  And we're off!

    P.S.  I seem unable to get my weight chart to show me my entire progress... I can only get since June 1.  Anybody know how to toggle that?

    Nef - Yeah, I think you're body's probably taking a breather.  But the good news is, it's taking a breather because you have kicked much ass the first half of this year.  I'm glad to hear you thinking about this in such a positive way, as opposed to what I was doing earlier in the thread about me.

    20 pounds since Jan?  That's awesome!  Good for you!
